I took a walk down Ashton Lane this afternoon because it was sunny, and that's when it's at its best (in my opinion)!
The beer gardens were in full swing, the lane was bustling as it always is no matter what time of the year, and the summer heat made it all the more relaxing. It's very family friendly, and there were some mums sitting outside sipping on some cold drinks while their tots lounged in the sun.
Ashton Lane, no matter if it's sunny, starlit or bitterly cold is always somehow magical. Set in the heart of the west end, there's no doubt it's high class. A few cynics may call it pretentious but I love its style, the cosy bars and how alive it feels into the early morning.
Playing host to Brel, G1 franchises The Loft, The Lane and Radio, Jinty Mc Ginty's, The Chip, Vodka Wodka, Ashoka and the boutique cinema the Grovsenor, there's plenty to do down here. It's always nice to stop in at The Lane to grab some drinks before catching a movie, or hopping over to Jinty's on a sunny day to enjoy a cider in their big beer garden at the back. If you're lucky, you might spot one of the talented buskers that tend to gravitate towards this part of the west end.
Today I caught up with some uni friends in Brel - absolutely perfect setting for a catch up, and with a lovely menu! It is the haunt of many students due to its convenient location for the uni, but all pubs in Ashton are enjoyed by all ages and groups. It's got something for everyone, and is a great setting in all seasons. read more
