I was a hair model for Autumn while she is in training this week, & the experience was fantastic! I had my hair done still from the showcase with lots of product in it so I got a little add-on to pre-wash & clear buildup while moisturizing & hydrating the hair. I loved the scalp massage and hair wash, and I loved how all the products smelled & felt! Then just sitting in the chair getting the hair styled, it was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. It was the perfect way to pamper myself after the showcase! Autumn did a fantastic job and her manager was awesome stopping by throughout the whole process to watch her, demonstrate techniques, & help her along the way. It was great to see how supportive & encouraging he was while she tested out doing the Mai Tai on me. I would never think to do something like this, but I absolutely loved it & would totally do it again for a special occasion or to just pamper myself! Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and the place is clean. I love how everything (services and products) are all bar-themed! Such a cute concept! When I arrived for my appointment, I found the salon permanently closed and the door locked. After some digging, I saw a Facebook post stating the business had closed, but relying solely on a Facebook post is not sufficient when the booking system is still active and sending confirmation texts. As an out-of-town client, there was no way for me to know my appointment was no longer valid. No call, no text, no cancellation notice. This was not a casual appointment -- it was for a wedding -- and the lack of communication forced me to scramble at the last minute. If a business is closing, booked clients should be proactively notified and all booking systems disabled. This situation could have been avoided with basic communication. Thankfully, I was able to find another salon last minute -- Primp and Blow Chandler -- who completely saved the day. Five stars to them for stepping in on short notice and doing an amazing job.

I also explained to my stylist that I'm currently recovering from major surgery and was only four days post-op, which is why I came in for the service since I'm unable to wash my hair myself right now. My stylist was very sweet, but the service itself felt rough during the wash and blow-dry. When the blowout was finished, I was honestly shocked at how underwhelming the result was. There was barely any curl, very little volume, and my hair was frizzy and poofy rather than smooth and polished. It looked nothing like the style I requested or what I've received at Drybar in the past. Because I was already feeling lightheaded and exhausted from surgery recovery, I didn't have the energy to address it in the salon and decided to just go home. However, I called the salon shortly after leaving to explain the situation. Unfortunately, the conversation with the manager, Bailey, made the experience even worse. She immediately came across as defensive and cold rather than empathetic. She told me she would call me back before the end of the day, but I never received a call. During the conversation she questioned why I hadn't said something while I was still there so another stylist could fix it, which felt dismissive given the circumstances I had already explained. I understand that things don't always go perfectly with services, but the way concerns are handled makes all the difference. The lack of empathy and follow-through left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed enough that I will not be returning.

The week of my appointment I began to get nervous and was contemplating changing my appointment from a 1st time curl define appointment to a silk press (because I was more comfortable with doing my hair straight). I contacted the owner Kemi and she called me back and answered my questions (mostly I was concerned that I would not be able to replicate or maintain the style at home).
