I ordered a dining room set from Ashley's in Whitby. I was very happy with the customer service in the store. Great salesperson and wonderful manager. However...everything went wrong with the delivery and what has happened after. The first thing that happened was, the delivery people forgot one of the chairs! I had a 9 piece set (1 table, 6 chairs, 1 bench and 1 server) and they forgot one piece. I called the customer service line (which has the most annoying and aggravating hold music btw), and they had the driver return with the missing chair. No biggie...mistakes happen and they sorted it out. That would have been OK if that were the only issue. One of the chairs was not put together properly and had a huge gap between the crossbar and the leg. Upon a closer inspection of the server, I noticed that the two right cupboard doors did not close properly. The upper one is askew and scrapes when opening and closing, and the bottom one does not sit flush when closed (sticks out about 1 cm). I called the customer service line, and after being cut off twice, finally spoke to someone. I explained that the product was defective. Firstly, I was told to call back tomorrow because, since the product was just delivered, my file was "frozen" and couldn't be opened. What? After refusing to accept this explanation, the customer service representative then said she would send a technician out to look at it. I said ok, and she told me the earliest one could come was September 7. I called on August 20, shortly after the product was delivered!! Three weeks! I asked to speak to a manager and was told they would just tell me the same thing! I booked the service appointment for that date and just hung up because I was appalled at the terrible customer service I had just received! I decided to call back today to see if I could just return the server to the Whitby store myself, and have them ship me a new one. I was told I would be charged a restocking fee if I did that! After picking my chin up off the floor upon hearing this, I enquired as to why the technician would take 3 weeks to come... here's the WORST answer I have ever received as a customer.... "It is the end of the summer and all of our technicians are on holiday!!!" WHAT WHAT WHAT? Are you kidding me? She actually said that!
I have been shipped a defective product. I reported it immediately. I am being left out to dry by Ashley's and their TERRIBLE customer service. Don't EVER EVER order anything from them. Go to Leon's! They always resolve their problems in a timely manner, and treat their customers with respect! read more
