I was not made aware that Dr…read more Clodfelter was leaving this practice and my latest visit lacked all of the reasons I ever returned after so many years. The cleaning I had was very non-personable and not very thorough. Plus the office has now become sterile and lacks the small town private-owned vibe that it used to have.

Okay, I am NOT the type to leave a review if it's bad, but this is worth someone else being warned…read more I went to Nashville Smile Creations back in October after a 6 year stint of no cleanings (gross, I know), and the cleaning itself was fine. I was told I had a few small cavities, nothing major. I wasn't thrilled with the dentist's bedside manner that came to tell me about the cavities but whatever. I booked an appointment that day to get them taken care of and booked my 6 month cleaning in advance. I go in to get 2 of the cavities filled by Dr. Clodfelter, it's very painful, it takes forever, but I suck it up and get it done, pay my $75 bill and leave with them saying they'll call me about the other cavities to book an appointment. My tooth is suddenly extremely sensitive after the filling and I never hear from them again, I don't call them as I'm frustrated with the new pain and already have a mild fear of dentists. I show up for my biannual cleaning today and mention the sensitivity to Dr. Mena. Turns out, the filling was done too close to the nerve and -- of course -- he recommends a root canal because "it wasn't their fault". I had ZERO pain before I got this filled. This was also after a very painful cleaning by Dr. Mena, after I winced and flinched several times in his chair as he dug sharply into my gums. My last cleaning by a hygienist wasn't nearly as painful as this, dude did not care. THEN, I get to the front desk, and they tell me I still owe $43 from my previous fillings? I pay but tell them I paid in full at my last appointment and she said she "must have let it slip", and that it's such a small amount and can't "catch everything". Okay. I'm done. It's going to cost me WAY more to get this damn tooth fixed because of the filling being so close to the nerve, and I can go elsewhere and get way less painful cleanings/fillings. Do not waste your time or money. They're a mess at this place.

I am very excited to be getting my dental work done at Interfaith Dental! I will be getting some major procedures done by there team over the next several moths. They are very willing and easy to work with on a sliding pay scale. Wonderful! I am excited to see how all my work turns out in the next several months! I will keep you all posted ; ) Interfaith is a 501-C3 non profit organization that accepts a limited amount of applications from people once a year. I was accepted this past month. I will be able to obtain quality, professional dental work, for more than half the price of dental work at a regular dental office. There mission is to make peoples dental dreams come true! For people who could not afford the procedures needed for reasons like no dental insurance, low income, or just not as privileged as others. Main point is... they are WONDERFUL people, with a WONDERFUL mission! They all work for the better of the patients! They are not out to make large amounts of cash. They are there to help you and me get dental work done for a affordable price!!! Hey, if you feel that you could fall into the category of someone in need of dental work, and may need some help with the high costs of dental work, then check out there website. http://www.interfaithdentalclinic.com/

With both of these things coupled together, I was ready to obtain my NEW SMILE. But, that is where all of the positive things stopped. Once arriving in the office, I was barely acknowledge but required to complete paperwork. The initial wait was not long nor was the wait in the back-but it became evident that it was all about the money. They do not accept insurance of any type but will gladly give you a form for dental reimbursement--only after you pay in full. They will not even consider given you that form to submit to your insurance to find out how much you could possibly get back from reimbursement. The first question they ask is, "what is your budget?" I stated my budget was no more than $3,000.00 and surprisingly enough my estimated total was $2,833.73---that is close to the budge correct. When I called the next day with questions, I could not get past the receptionist who only said, once I paid they would answer anything or give me a form. I have not looked back but I did smile again by going to another dentist.

After neglecting to go for a couple years and a change in insurance, I decided now was the time. From my immediate phone call with Brigette, I knew I was in good hands. She was thorough, calming, and informative. No hidden anything. During my visit today, I was greeted with many pleasant faces and attitudes. Bree, my hygienist, was thorough and covered all necessary points and explained everything before completing it. Dr. Montee was probably the first dentist that I've not been intimidated or scared of. Usually when the dentist walks in, it's just to state the negative and that's it. She was wonderful! And explained everything to me in a way that was going to improve my behaviors instead of knock me down. All pricing was laid out for me and agreed to before any work was to be done. Great dental company!!

I was really happy with my work, service seemed fine , wait times were reasonable- and I really…read moreliked that they had a diverse staff. Not sure what changed, but I had a string of not great experiences, and then no follow up from management : At that time, I usually let my dr/physicians know that my employer issued Blue Cross of Michigan, because they were based out of Michigan, but it was never an issue- I just made sure to clarify because BC of TN would be more typical. Per usual, I had explained that to them when I gave them my card after my first visit, they kind of waved me off and assured me they would pick up on it. I had been going for about a year when this happened: The suites aren't actual rooms- it's just open. I was full reclined in a chair with a mouthpiece holding my mouth wide for an exam, when one of the admin stomped through the suites and kind of whisper-shouted (if you know, you know) that I wasn't getting any care that day until I resolved my balance- , and proceeded to let me and the two patients next to me know ('you owe us like $1400'). I kind of wiggled to get the mouthguard speakable, and asked if they had billed my insurance (I had routine checkups and some fillings, all of which was 100% covered)- she said I didn't have any insurance on file- so I sat up and grabbed my wallet to give her my card. She probably realized the error then and there, but she just kind of snorted and stormed off. I sat back on the chair, it was pretty embarrassing - I would think they could find a better place to bring up an issue if they saw one. I had never missed a call from them about billing or anything else. There was no acknowledgment/ apology for their error, but the experience was so uncomfortable that I just kind of shrugged it off, and figured that admin wouldn't be there much longer. I know it's frustrating to make mistakes, but that was so really poorly handled- and really wasn't something I had any control over. I started noticing a change- the work seemed a little less careful (walked away with some pokes), but I was done after the last incident. I called to reschedule my appointment (I had just started a new job, and my insurance had changed) and the conversation somehow ended in them hanging up on me. This was after arguing to keep the appointment, I had to explain that I wasn't sure that my new employer's insurance even covered them, so either way I probably shouldn't be keeping that appointment to risk paying out of network- the lady just hung up. Since then, I found out they are in-network, but I didn't want to go back until I figured out what had changed management-wise. I sent them an email via their website under their 'feedback' contact, and responded to their review emails... but you can decided for yourself whether that was effective. I've included my original email verbatim and their response. I gave up- but hopefully they can use this review to improve service for future patients, or maybe just have a conversation about privacy -------------------- (see images for the email I sent to management following all of this, and their reply).
