This is a very new visitor center for Voyageurs National Park, having opened in 2025. It's so new…read morethat they have only temporary information panels set up inside, and a very limited selection of gift shop offerings. They're working on getting the permanent exhibits in. The rangers staffing the desk are very helpful though! There's a short park film being shown about the wolves of the area. It covers the life of a litter of wolf pups as they grow up. I learned that summer, a season of warmth and prosperity for humans, is actually a season of starvation for wolves as their prey animals are usually healthy and get away during the hunt. The pups have to rely on berries and also deer fawns (just a small snack, really) to get by, but many young wolves do not make it. It's the circle of life. There are gender neutral restrooms in the vestibule, as well as a water fountain.

The place is immaculate and they changed linens, emptied baskets each day as well as restocking all the notions. We travel a lot to visit National Parks and typically stay in 2 star hotels as we don't spend much time in our room.Terry at the front desk was very helpful. The location is only 15 minutes away from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center of Voyageurs National Park (why else would you come to International Falls (unless you love to fish).

But, it just happened that I completed my activities in the Rainy Lake section of Voyageurs National Park and after grabbing some lunch in town, I figured...why not come check out this cool, little regional airport!? INL (abbreviation code) is located 14 miles west of Rainy Lake, one of the primary areas of activity for Voyageurs. And I will say...for those adventurers/tourists who don't drive to Voyageurs (which would be a mistake, imo)...here in International Falls, Minnesota, it is the gateway to this remote NP located on the borderline with Canada. When I stopped by around noontime in the middle of June, the airport was empty. There were no passengers or gate agents at the ticket counters. So...it gave me a chance to just walk around and check things out. I'm a fan of flying/traveling and being at regional airports like this one...I find looking at different aircrafts and watching planes leave their gates headed for the runways to be fun. Unfortunately for this day, there wasn't one plane...anywhere. Oh well, I didn't stay for long...but at least I got to explore around INL, which fulfilled my curiosity. Btw, for parking...it was free, whether for short term, long term, or hourly. Finally, just viewing International Falls' Airport website, Skywest...(which is a Delta Airlines affiliate) has a daily flight departing to and from MSP (Minneapolis St. Paul) which from there, you can connect to all over the USA.

They were more than accommodating, helpful, friendly and full of knowledge about Pelican Lake and the surrounding areas. I came with my boyfriends family who have been fishing for 30+ years. These past four years I fish regularly and really like it...but now I get it-and I love it. The Lake will make you a fisherman. The sun is up at 5a and doesn't set until almost 10p on some nights. When it's too hot try out the putting (it's pretty challenging and well maintained) They have Frisbee Golf, a bike boat, canoes and some great places to sit, relax and enjoy the view and sounds of Orr, MN. I was very comfortable and felt very safe. If you need anything town is just 15 minutes away. Each cabin has a BBQ and some come with a dock (we were lucky ours had one) I wish I had more time than a week. I just went into the lodge for the first time right before we left and it was amazing.
