I was visiting my mom and wanted to get the kiddo and I out of the house. I wanted to go to Wisconsin Dells but didn't want to do a water park so I let the kiddo be the fun coordinator. She looked at a bunch of stuff and picked Asgard Axe Throwing. Not for the axes but for the unlimited arcade in the basement! Located off what I'd guess to be downtown Dells on Oak St, Asgard is pretty easy to find. It's next to the fire department and there's a metered parking lot directly across the street. We got there when they opened so we purchased our cards at the bar upstairs. $20 for an hour or $25 for unlimited. No brainer. Gimme unlimited! The arcade is not the biggest but it's mighty! Driving games, pinball, rifle games and retro. The Mario Kart and Big Buck hunting cabinets were standouts. And everything worked perfectly. I can say we beat X-Men in two different states! We were there for about two hours and played everything we wanted multiple times. It never got busy when we were there. We had a great time at the Asgard Underground Arcade. The $25 unlimited is definitely the way to go if you're there. Even if it gets a little busy, chances are there's something you'll want to play while you wait for another game to open up. Me and my family went to the downstairs arcade. It was a little pricy at $20 per hour or $25 per day. At least 5 machines were broken and that was a big bummer. But if you like the buck hunter game and Mario kart you would enjoy this. read more

This was great place with awesome service. The staff were great and it was a very safe fun activity. X trained my party on how to axe throw and made it a awesome experience. I appreciated the time he took to get us comfortable and the tips he offered along the way. The locations was fun, the food was very tasty! Totally great pizza and tenders. Nothing was bad. The vibe was great with good music. And your parking and restroom options were good. Cannot go wrong trying this out. Was in The Dells for a girls weekend and decided to try Axe throwing while enjoying a beer. None of us had thrown before, but Tom gave us each great instruction and he would check back with us even though they were busy. I recommend this place for a fun night. The pizza looked good too. We spent 2hours throwing axes and had a blast!!! The host really knew what he was doing and was able to give helpful hints to improve our aim. We played 4 different games including one that was similar to cricket (darts), one where you play against each other and the beast you are throwing at, a count up to 100 and a card game. All of the games were fun, but the card game was the best. It gave us the opportunity to use several different types of axes. We have been to several different axe throwing places in the Chicago area and Nashville. Asgard Axe is our favorite place. We will return!! read more

I've been there a few times and have never been disappointed with the staff, food, or drinks. The menu has been updated with new items that I can't wait to try. This was an impulse stop while walking around the Dells. And it was the most fun we had during the entire trip! Dennis, the owner, showed us how to safely throw axes, and even the 16 year old daughter learned immediately. We had a terrific time, and would go again anytime we were in the area. We had a group of 5 people and tried out axe throwing at Asgard. It was definitely a fun time and our skills improved as we played. We received good direction and throwing suggestions which was very much appreciated. But I think their pricing should be modified a bit. It was $35 per person/per hour. We played one hour on a single lane and it ended up being close to $200 for the hour, but we did not have enough time to finish our game. I think it would be better if it was just a price per hour for a lane (or price per person for a game similar to how bowling is charged). I think next time I would take up 2 or 3 lanes so we could have more people throwing at a time and be able to finish our games (it would be the same price with their current pricing structure). read more

Brian here at Asgard is fantastic. I've gone axe throwing before and thought I knew what I was doing but Brian showed me proper throwing and made it fun and interesting. He was fully supportive and kept encouraging our group of 5 to keep going. I highly recommend this if you want something new and fun to do in the Dells. If you've never been axe throwing, this is the place to start. Excellent in-depth training prior to your sessions time actually beginning. Everyone is required to stick the axe twice before you're set loose. Staff is extremely personable and funny, cool beer selection, and all around a great experience. It's a little off the "Dell strip" downtown but worth the extra block of walking, especially because the rent on the strip is unreal. read more

I have been to several axe bars in Wisconsin, and this one was by far the worst experience. Overpriced and underwhelming unfortunately. They did not have a coach facilitate the game like other locations. When our coach was giving our group throwing instructions, we asked if she could speak up because the music was so ridiculously loud. Their fermented imported whiskey made all of us who drank it sick! Boards were so hard it didn't matter who threw, how hard or soft they threw, the axe would rarely stick in the board. Made for a very disappointing night. read more

This was our groups first time axe throwing and it ended up being our favorite thing we did while visiting the Dells. Dennis was funny and patient and was always close by to offer additional instruction. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the Dells. read more
