Anna was very sweet and did try to correct the styling when she realized I was unhappy, which I appreciated, but ultimately the experience did not feel like the specialized curly service I had booked and paid for. UPDATE: The owner reached out after my experience and offered me a complimentary appointment with another curly hair specialist. I decided to give the salon another chance, and I'm very glad I did. My second experience was completely different. I was extremely happy with my hair and, just as importantly, I left feeling educated about my curls and confident that I could recreate the results at home. My stylist took the time to explain the techniques and products that worked best for my hair, which was exactly what I had hoped for from the beginning. I really appreciate the owner listening to my concerns and making an effort to make things right. While my first experience was disappointing, I'm very happy with how the salon handled the situation and with the service I received the second time around. The cutest spot to get your hair done!…read more I've been getting my hair done here for a little over a year. My stylist moved here from another salon, and I've been super impressed with the spot. Parking is always plentiful, as it's located in a shopping center. The location is located right next to Rich and Charlie's and is easy to find. Right when you walk in there is a small seating area to sit and wait if your stylist isn't ready quite yet. To the right side there is a coffee machine and cookies that patrons are able to help themselves to. There are also bottles of water. Small touches like this make all the difference. On the left hand side there is a row of seats and stations, and on the right hand side there are small studios that have doors and are a bit more private. More towards the back are the drying stations and sinks. The spot is decorated wonderfully and is so cute- love the natural aesthetic. It's warm but not over the top. The seats, drying stations, sinks are all up to date and well taken care of. It's very clean! I enjoy coming here every month. Plus, they have Wi-Fi :)

You had my client history from the past two years. I went to this salon because a stylist I had been seeing for over a year moved here. She had been maintaining my cherry cola color for about a year, and when she moved to The Boulevard, I told her I wanted to start the process of going back to my natural level 6 brown. I understood that removing red is a process and specifically told her I was completely fine doing it over multiple appointments. I also asked if we could keep the first appointment within a certain timeframe because I had dinner plans, and she agreed. My appointment was scheduled for noon. When I arrived, I sat alone for 30 minutes without being greeted, consulted, or acknowledged by anyone before my stylist finally came over. The appointment ultimately lasted 7 hours, and I had bleach on my hair for approximately 3 hours. When I left, my hair was severely damaged. In fact, my stylist knew it didn't look right because as I was leaving, she told me to "wear a ponytail to dinner." That is not something you say to a client who just spent hundreds of dollars and received a successful service. I have since shown photos from that appointment to other licensed cosmetologists, and multiple have told me the damage was evident as soon as the foils came out. I have always taken excellent care of my hair, use professional products, and have never experienced damage like this. My hair is now rough, difficult to manage, and completely different from how it felt before. I can't run my fingers through it, my natural texture is gone, and it is genuinely unrecognizable to me. I was so upset that I spent the entire weekend crying and had to miss work on Monday. When I called the salon Monday morning, I was told the owner would contact me. I never received a call. When I called back two hours later, the owner suddenly answered. She offered a free treatment if I came in immediately, but the first thing she said to me in person was, "It's not that bad." After spending two days devastated over the condition of my hair, that was incredibly dismissive and upsetting to hear. The owner then told me that the original stylist would perform my next treatment and that I could pay for a new color service. I explained that after what happened, I believed I deserved both a refund and a corrective color service. The stylist refused a refund, and offered the color service for free. I agreed to this, and then stylist put red back on my hair, leaving me looking almost exactly as I did before I started this process, except now my hair is badly damaged and I am out $700. I came to this salon because I trusted my stylist and trusted the salon to guide me through this process responsibly. Instead, I have walked out feeling worse every single time. The most disappointing part is that the owner never apologized, never took accountability, and never made a meaningful attempt to make this right. I wish I had never come here. I am now left paying for the damage done to my hair, and multiple people who have seen the condition of it have told me I should pursue legal action because of how severe the damage is.

So when you strike gold, it's worth sharing. I've recently been coming to Homegrown Hair Co. and Paige is now my permanent stylist FOREVER. Like seriously this girl better not up and move. She is friendly and funny and immediately you know this girl loves what she does. She consults and goes over ideas and suggestions and together we figure out what the heck is going on with my hair. I tend to change my style a lot but Paige moves full force with me and never skips a beat. The salon itself is beautiful. You walk in and feel that this space is an extension of the people that have come together in it. It's warm and inviting and sets the tone for my experience. The walls are brought to life with collages from magazine clippings and dried flowers. I can sip a canned cocktail and chill out for a few hours and not feel a sense of rush or urgency. There doesn't need to be mirrors on the wall. I can sit in that chair and know I'm going to look fire when I leave. Period.

I came here in May to get a red color. From the bleach treatment, my hair is extremely damaged and the red color faded after 3 washes in cold water/with color safe shampoo/conditioner. I contacted salon, and they redid the red color, and again the same fading happened. They also didn't use a toner at all during this process. I've gotten my hair done by a different stylist at a different salon to fix it, but the bleach treatment that was done at Homegrown was so damaging that no red color is sticking to my hair at all anymore. I've had my hair colored red before and never had any problems with the color sticking--but it was never bleached before that red. I paid $385 for the first color appt at Homegrown and tipped $80. Since then, I have tried and tried to contact Homegrown to get a refund as I've had to pay even more to try and fix it with a new stylist. Homegrown ghosted me after multiple people at their salon gaslighted me saying it was "my hair and hair changes" and that they were "writing down my message and would have management contact me". It's been weeks and I haven't heard anything back. Do not trust these people with your hair. Mine is now very damaged and there's nothing I can do to keep the red color I initially asked for.

And I'm very particular about my hair length and how I want it, my hair is insanely thick, textured, and grows fast so it is a nightmare to do any regular upkeep. I just recently moved back from the military so I've moved around a lot the last few years, and honestly I've never had a haircut anywhere else that comes anywhere close to what i get here. Since moving back to the area a few months ago, I have gone to Sue's twice (once with Michelle cutting and once with Brittany) both experiences were so therapeutic and wonderful, the first time I had Michelle do some thinning and get my split ends fixed but I kept my length and she did such an amazing job at keeping my length but also getting those split ends trimmed up. This last time I told Brittany she has full rein to do what she thinks my hair needs, since it's so thick and being down to my butt it was soo heavy I was getting headaches and I literally just used to throw my hair up every single day bc I couldn't manage it, I'm a long hair girl and always have been, so when I told her she can take as much as she thinks would be best I was so nervous, but LET ME TELL YOU she did the BEST thinning I've ever had, layering that is so clean and somehow lines perfectly to the contour of my wavy texture (because sometimes layers with waves like mine causes some weird frizzy poky ends) and she gave me a little face framing. My hair has legit never felt or looked this good in my whole life, I wear it down and style it all the time now because the layers she gave me are so perfect I can do straight, or light curls, or let my natural texture go. It has been yearsss since Ive actually loved my hair, and not had to fight with it every single day. And just the experience here is always so nice, im literally counting down the days until I get to go back and get my haircut again bc it's like a form of therapy for me.
