I generally find Iceland stores to be OK, nothing too exciting, nothing too bad, this store is an…read moreexception for all the wrong reasons, located in Market Walk in Chorley town centre, it is a fairly small store and it is an older-style Iceland Store. The store was a mess, it seemed down every aisle, they had empty boxes, some of them based in, and warehouse cages which staff weren't anywhere near or attending too, from bits of paper from the packaging and random things all over the floor, it felt like a tip or a building site, not an actual shop, where people were shopping, this made aisles which were already pretty narrow, even more so. There was also a lack of checkouts, they also put barriers to block off empty checkouts, but this also meant there was a decreased amount of room to actually get to the checkout, meaning it was a tight squeeze again. The staff seemed rather rude, they basically shrugged their shoulders when I asked them why the store was such a mess. One of the most uncomfortable shopping experiences I've had, I just wanted to get out of there and go to a nearby supermarket (Booths, ASDA, Morrisons, B&M all are within 5-10 minutes on foot from here), the worst part was the staff just didn't care. 1*

The entrance to the store is pretty nightmarish, it's poorly lit and narrow and easy to miss, I ended up walking through the car-park to get into the store, and due to the construction around the petrol station (permanent barriers), it ruled out the possibility of cutting through and was quite a long and dangerous walk just to get into the store, so they do need to signpost how to get in/out much better. I did have an issue with the packaging of their bakery goods, after scanning at the till it ripped open and tipped up onto the counter, as I was buying this for a friend this was an item containing gluten so I didn't want to handle it, the staff member bagged it up again but I didn't notice until I got home one had become stale, as she had just put it in a small plastic bag. Pretty much typical of a Morrisons store in terms of design and layout. 3* - Not a bad supermarket, some good items, but there is much better in and around Chorley, and even nearby towns such as Preston and Bolton.

This location is a short walk away from Chorley Station, opposite Market Walk Shopping Centre, with parking close-by. The product range in most cases is pretty good, they seem to focus on great service and high-quality items, they have many counters selling fresh produce so I was able to get some excellent quality meat and cheese, at a good price. They did have another fresh counter selling hot food, however something I found strange was how the jacket potatoes were pre-made with toppings on, they only had one left which had chilli on, obviously as I don't like chilli and this contained gluten, it meant I couldn't have it and it would have gone to waste. Surely if you have to go to a manned hot food counter anyway, having them ready and adding toppings on demand would be much better for both Booths (They can sell more potatoes) and the customer (You can actually get the fillings you want) The Free From selection seemed limited, especially for the size of the store, they didn't have the Findlaters Gluten-Free bread, which is my favourite gluten-free bread, which they stock at their Media City branch in Manchester, they did, however, have the bread rolls/baps, however, after getting home I realised they were past their expiration date so I didn't want to chance eating them, being charged £3.65 for expired food just isn't good enough. No reduced stickers, so the staff weren't even aware they were expiring soon. The meal deals were also misleading, I thought I'd pick up a gluten-free sandwich (Don't bother with them - the bread is hard and inedible!) as well as two snacks and a drink for £4, however it wasn't until I arrived home that I realised my drink wasn't classed as in the meal deal. After speaking to the store, I was told only certain drinks are classed in the meal deal, even though they are all-together anyway - I find this to be rather ridiculous and misleading and ended up costing me £2.20 more than I should have paid. 4* - Despite its' flaws, the staff are great here and the store has a good vibe and a great selection of high-quality foods which can't compare with any other supermarket so it is worth a trip out for, they do need to work on some pretty major problems. They have promised me a refund on my future visit, if this is adhered to I will continue to visit this store which has been in Chorley for over 100 years, although at this location for a shorter period of time.

I will say this . although a little pricey the food does seem to be good quality. And if you want quality then prices will refect that. My biggest hate of the store is their fresh bread. On the side shelfs they sell alot of fresh uncut loafs unwrapped. You pick a paper bag and put the loaf or sticks in the bag yourself. You never know how many people have squeezed the loaf and moved on, or how many people have sneezed on it. No unwrapped bread or rolls for me thanks. My usual Supermarket wrapped fresh loaves.

According to the locals, this is a bigger store than the regular ones. If I get a chance to visit a regular store, I'll confirm, lol. They have cashiers for check out as well as self check-out lanes. Prices here are awesome! I'm a huge fan of their bakery bread and the snacks. Their sparkling water game is pretty strong, too. If you're around Liverpool, Tesco's of all versions are dotted around places: metro, local, express, superstore. If there are any more, you'll have to let me know! The Liverpool One branch of Superstore is not actually the most super I have come across in Liverpool as there is one in Litherland which is gargantuan in comparison. However, Liverpool One Tesco is certainly what the town needs. You still have plenty of choice here, a variety of sections such as deli, clothes and international foods to keep you adding more to your basket! I find this place more of a relaxing and enjoyable shopping experience as opposed to the Metro version by the big screen, because its more spacious and offers an abundance of products. The location isn't great if you're driving there as it'll cost you pounds to park somewhere nearby but certainly convenient when you have other chores to do around town.

The product range was OK, they had some good items at some good prices too, it can feel a little hectic/uncomfortable at times, especially when busy due to the layout of the store. It's mainly cheap stuff, so there isn't a set list of items you'll find here, which means you have to prepare for disappointment, I couldn't find what I wanted sadly as the cupboard drinks section was rather poor. 3* - OK, well worth a look in every now and then as some (but not all) items can be a good deal.
