Today is the start of Royal Ascot week, although i wasn't in Ascot for this, however, it was 10.30am and wanting a breakfast of some kind. I can only write about my particular food. Well, all i can say, is don't have the Beans-on-Toast!... 1 side of the bread was barely toasted and the other side was still completely white, which was the side the beans went on.
It was horribly soggy....It didnt look like it was buttered either.
The beans were just slopped all over and looked messy., therefore, presentation was appalling.
With this i had a pot of Tea. Now i prefer a weak cuppa, however, this was just like slop.
I did complain and ask for a stronger pot,.... and was give a single t-bag on a saucer to just add to my pot!!.
I would have expected a more professional approach and given a fresh pot with 2 t-bags in.
There was was no appology and they didnt seem to care.
The assistant didnt seem that bothered i had complained and i am amazed that in a prestigous area, a place like this could serve up a low standered quality of food.
My father was with me and his meal wasn't any better either. He had a muffin which was dry and rubbery with a dried sausage and shriveled piece of bacon he could bare swallow it, and his tea was like dish water too.
This cafe is the first you come across when walking up the high street, so is quite convenient.....but please walk further first to decide going in here to find somewhere else.
They know this is a very well located cafe, and i feel therefore, they know they will make money as people dont want to walk far, and i felt they didnt take care of making sure the meals are served up as they should be.
At £3.85 i would have expected 2 slices of toast.
I might add, that before we went in the place was quite busy with 'race goers....and by the time we ordered, the place was almost empty... i just wished i had complained when it was full! read more
