One Beast Tree - Three Locations to remove it…read more The Tree Remover Dudes: Matt Sharpless of Sharpless Tree Service & Buddy Hupp from Rochester, PA are the most knowledgeable, safest, accommodating, respectful, courteous, and most fun tree cutter guys I ever met, & extremely reasonably priced. Labor helper guys: John and Jordon. The Tree: A 70ft Sumac tree which a lot of people don't know is actually a weed that if left unchecked will grow rogue. A very prolific weed, its roots system sends out sucker shoots that have a life all of their own popping up 20 feet away from its base root system to wreak havoc even if the host tree is cut down. Background: The neighbors had a sumac weed that grew from under their garage into a 70 ft tree over the past 28 years, onto my property line which now makes it my tree. As residential sumac's get older their branches become brittle and just start breaking off, they can do some serious damage. Over time the garage that this sumac was growing out from under started raising and breaking up the block work of the garage wall. The owner removed the garage which took away the trees root support, now the tree is leaning just a bit more towards my house. location #1: Using the neighbors drive way where the tree originated from was the original plan. However the bucket truck was a shade too large to get between the houses, so hitting the tree head on wasn't going to happen. Location #2: The neighbor behind us, permitted the guys to use her driveway. Buddy removes all the branches he could reach from the back and throws them into the first location, where John and Jordan quickly picked up. Location #3- my driveway- which is 40 or so feet away from the beast. Matts boom goes 60 ft., but they have to go over 3 other trees to get to the beast. Very carefully Matt drives his bucket truck up my drive which is a tad wider than the 1st drive location, so lucky us. John on top of the bucket truck holding up all the power lines that go across my drive. It was hold your breath minutes. Truck finally situated, stabilizer arms all secured. Buddy back up in the air precedes to cut down the rest of the limbs and branches. The only thing left is 20 feet of thick trunk. Back at the 1st drive location, Matt, John, and Jordon on the ground holding the trunk lines while Buddy working on the trunk. There was crack and a big boom and the beast was on the ground. Matt and Buddy attack the tree trunk with chain saws. They get the wood chipper going and have all of those limbs chipped up within a couple of hours, there were a lot of branches and limbs. Incredible! Bottom Line: Their determination to get 'er done really showed through. These guys really love what they do, it shows in their work, they know their trees and know how to cut them so they fall just right. Even in very tight spaces like mine. They clean up the mess, they were respectful of everyone's property and the neighbors, their prices are excellent. You cant go wrong with Sharpless Tree Service.
