After a long search across different cities and states, Alissa is the best massage therapist I've found. Full stop. She is well studied and understands the root causes for physical ailments and how to solve for them. She not only addresses them in her massage but also educates on why they are an issue and how to address them in everyday life too. I am more agile and in less pain after ever massage. I tend to ask more more intense sports-style massage, but she adjusts based on my needs at my request. She is a good-natured person who I like and trust. And she is very precaution in the time of COVID, always taking the utmost precautions and being sensitive to other's level of comfort as well. The space is indoors but extremely well kept. I highly recommend Lani Collins ! I received incredible massages from her from approximately 1995 to 2015, and only stopped because I moved far away from Sonoma county. Out of around 100 or so different massage therapist I've tried over my life she's only one of 2 that could give extended deep tissue work for well over 2 hours, and not just with power but with intuition and creativity. She probably has the strongest hands of any massage therapist I've seen and that is extremely important when you need deep tissue work in the neck. She also knows quite an extensive variety of modalities well beyond standard deep tissue and how and when to employ those techniques. Alissa is great at what she does! I had a 60 minute massage on my patio with her. I wanted a brief full body massage but focusing mostly on my back and neck and that's exactly what she did! Allisa is a wonderful, extremely skilled CMT. I've been suffering from shoulder issues for years that staring at my computer all day and then surfing my brains out really aggravated (shocker). Allisa worked on the shoulders for an hour and half and delivered real healing, not just temporary relief. She also dealt with the whole covid thing in a manner that was both graceful and comforting. Alissa is an amazing massage therapist. I woke up one morning last week with sorer-than-usual shoulders and lower back so hopped on Yelp to see if I could find somewhere nearby that could take me same day. Alissa had a late afternoon appointment available, which was perfect. I scheduled a 30 min appointment. We talked about how I was feeling and she told me about her techniques. I like her method for pressure scaling (numbers, as opposed to firm, medium, light). But I didn't even end up needing to say anything; her pressure was perfect and consistent the entire time. I especially liked her broad pressure; I've been to massage therapists that put so much pressure into their thumb (or elbow or other single point of contact) and that just hurts sometimes. She accidentally went over my 30 minute appointment time but didn't charge me extra. The extra time on her was much appreciated, of course; who doesn't like bonus massage time? And she takes credit cards. Fantastic experience overall. I'll be back for sure, especially since it's so conveniently located near my office. :) read more

I came to see Alissa the day before I was scheduled to have a mind/body experience near the Russian River. I was tense and uptight. I arrived at her Forestville location, which she apparently just opened. Alissa's warm smile and kind being immediately set me at ease. She has a little dog who has to be some kind of Buddhist monk from a past life. He looks at you like you are the most important and interesting person on earth. Alissa's massage was absolutely amazing. I left softened and tenderized. The pain I was having in my neck from the motorcycle helmet I had been using decreased by 80%. I could actually move my neck again. I loved having her pup in the massage room. His presence was sweet and loving and a few times he came to sniff my fingers. This review is long overdue. I first went to Alissa back in November 2014 for this excruciating pain I was having in my arms. I had it pretty much everyday since I had my baby who at the time was 3 months old. The pain just kept getting worse and worse to a point where I could no longer move my arms. My nerves felt raw and the pain was so piercing that I was depressed and in tears. Being somewhat new to the area I didn't have a network of healthcare workers so I searched on yelp and found Alissa. I called her up and asked if she could see me that day. I think she could hear the desperation in my voice so she made some changes to her schedule to fit me in. Looking back I am so very grateful she was kind enough to go out of her way to accommodate me. Alissa has a very calm and nurturing way about her. She is warm and definitely a gifted massage therapist. Although she asked me some questions I didn't have to say much before I was on the table receiving her massage. She used her hands and intuition to work out my tight muscles not missing any area. She stretched my body and also gave me some stretches to do at home. That night I slept better than I had slept in years. The next day I felt 95% better. The pain in my arms was mostly gone and I was able to lift my baby without the fear of that horrible crippling pain. I went back to see her for another massage a few days later and after that my arm pain was gone for good. With all the 5 star reviews, I know I won't sound original. Still, after my AMAZING massage yesterday, I felt it absolutely necessary. I'm pretty sure I qualify as a massage aficionado as I do get massages fairly regularly locally and out of town. There are many talented bodyworkers here in the Berkeley area, however, Alissa is in a class all my herself. The passion for her work is palpable. And, it was evident that I was in caring and talented hands from her first touch. I loved how she eased into the deeper work, using different modalities (Chinese and Thai) to augment the long Swedish strokes. It was abslutely heaven where she really worked out some kinks from cardio boxing and also made me aware of tension I'd been unknowingly holding in my lower back.
