Elliot's Emporium is the small gift shop on the first floor of the Elliott museum in Stuart next to…read morethe reception desk. The museum and shop is run by the Martin County Historical Society. You don't have to purchase a museum admission to shop at the store. Whenever I visit the museum I always make a point to visit the gift shop because they have so many unique items. They have a smaller room in the back with photography by local artists. Other items they sell relate to the exhibits they have like King Tut, their antique cars, and the Ashley gang that terrorized the Treasure Coast in the early 1900's. You can shop boutique clothing, t-shirts, jewelry, toys, models, mugs, magnets, and so much more. If you are interested in local Treasure Coast history they have a number of fascinating books on the subject. Proceeds from this shop help the Martin County Historical Society run the Elliot Museum and Gilbert's Bar House of Refuge. The historical society does a wonderful job of preserving and sharing the history of Martin County so everyone can enjoy learning about it.

Climbing aboard "Rusty" ( the yellow bus) was my son's favorite thing to do. He truly thought he was driving it and enjoyed playing there. They have a coloring table and some things to play with for little kids to keep things interesting and enjoyable. Depending on when you visit they have different exhibits that rotate throughout the year. It was great to see all the cars they have ( just remember if you have little kids, they can take pictures but not touch the cars). Overall not a bad way to spend a few hours, go out and explore what Stuart/Jenses has to offer and not break the bank. Will come back again.

I came upon this place trying to find an artist's work I saw at ArtiGras (stained glass night lights) and was delighted to see all kinds of art pieces from a variety of artists (it's actually a coop where artists pay for space to show their pieces). Everything from hand-crafted to oil paintings to knitted colorful scarves. Also, the place is laid back and the prices are reasonable - not your pretentious gallery at all. If you are in the area or have visitors (like your mother) in town, check it out....great place to get custom tropical gifts!

Festival season is in full swing in Florida and this past weekend was the 23rd year of the annual…read morecraft festival in Stuart which is held over two days from 10 AM until 5 PM in historic downtown Stuart. The street is shut down so crafters and artists can sell their wares. Admission to the festival is free. There were many tents selling clothes, jewelry, art, ceramics, food, plants, accessories, and so much more. You can also shop and dine at all of the businesses lining the street and there was live music by the water. Parking was free and a breeze and Kiwanis Park. There are also many other free lots in the downtown area. Stuart is one of my favorite cities because it is so quaint and picturesque. They were the perfect hosts for a such a family friendly festival.
