They had a fun time and had a memory to keep from the party. Katie set up everything and cleaned up. All the parents loved the idea and were impressed with the artwork too. My favorite was the acrylic painting class, and I have continued to paint during open studio there for a couple of years now. I have also taken drawing and photography...and there is a huge majority of things to learn at Red Door. This is a great learning atmosphere for any age, and there are several shows per year which anyone can enter. I love coming here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to let their creative juices flow.

I booked a paint night for my sister and I as a way to get out after having given birth 10 weeks…read moreago. My sister was only in town for a short window of time and so we could only go to a paint night on 5/24. We were both so excited and showed up about 30 min early in order to have time to eat dinner first. Like I said before I am 10 weeks postpartum and I exclusively breastfeed so I brought my sleeping 10 week old with me. When we went to check in, I was told that the sleeping infant was not allowed to come in since the paint night was 21+ I tried to explain that he doesn't understand the things that make an adult evening inappropriate and when and if he wakes up I just breastfeed him and no one will know he is there. He cannot move and cannot be away from me. The painter was then very rude and said "what about all the other parents that left their other children at home, it's not fair to them". Besides the fact that I also left my other children at home, any person who has been a parent realizes how hectic and crazy the first few weeks with a new born can be and I'm sure any moms will understand the need to get out and try to have some fun. I have gone to over a dozen paint nights and love them. After this event I dont think I will ever go again. I felt offended and belittled.

My friends and I just shipped it together and picked it up at my place. They also provide great suggestions of designs and even have some pieces to buy.
