When I arrived the following day I was given a tour of the salon including the coffee/snack area, color mixing bar and lather lounge. When I met with my stylist Katie, she gave me a thorough consultation and I provided her a picture of what I had in mind for the cut. It was a pleasure speaking with her throughout my visit and she did an excellent job at reproducing the style I had requested. Me and the stylist had decided on going through with a color correction since i was originally going to go blonde from brown and had red color in my hair. They were super accommodating when I had to reschedule because of jury duty to 7/17. The issues came when I called ahead of time (6/25) if i should stick to the colour correction since I had changed my mind from going bleach blonde to something close to my natural with chunky highlight. The receptionist gave me her number and asked me to send her photos of my current hair and an inspo which i did during our call at 2:02 pm. She said the owner was out of town and wanted to consult her first. I had to take the time off of work way in advance so I was hoping they would call me if they cancelled. The day before I call and the part time receptionist finds out my appointment was cancelled and no one knows why. I am slightly frustrated because again I took time off work and no one seems to know about why it's canceled or anything about the photos I had sent. She offered to rebook me and then go find out but being wary of scheduling more time off without a service I just asked if she could find out first and then call me back. I never received a call back. They were nothing but kind to me but I just felt like as a new client they weren't too interested in doing my hair so I will be going somewhere else. Just a shame because I liked the place before but I feel like its more effort than it's worth when it seems so disorganized.

The stylist featured in the video wasn't available, so I assumed that because I saw someone with hair similar to mine being styled there, I would be in good hands. I was assigned to Daysha. Unfortunately, I left looking worse than when I arrived. My hair was soft when I came in, but I left with hair that was hard and crunchy from the products that Daysha used. Even more concerning, the back of my hair was still wet when I left the salon. I didn't realize it until I was almost home. I don't understand how Daysha could finish the service without noticing that my hair wasn't completely dry. To make matters worse, I was charged nearly double the price that was listed on the salon's website. There was no clear explanation for the significant difference in cost. As the stylist providing my service, Daysha should have explained any additional charges before proceeding so there were no surprises at checkout. Not every hair product works for every hair type, and I expected a professional stylist to understand how to work with 4C hair. Based on my experience, I do not feel confident in the quality of the service I received. I personally would not trust anyone else at this salon if this is the standard of care they are willing to provide. This was a very disappointing experience, especially since I traveled expecting professional service and left feeling like my hair had been mishandled.

Abby no longer works at Le Petite so I saw Christine for my appointment. I have to say, I enjoyed Abby so much more. I also did not appreciate having to wait in the middle of my appointment for another client to be shampooed and glazed. When Christine returned my hair had pretty much air dried. Upon checkout I was shocked when I was charged $40 more than Abby. Christine told me she had been "doing this for 20 years". I was a lot happier with Abby based on her attentiveness, demeanor and skill. I'm disappointed in this experience and will not return.

Once you find someone as gifted, down to earth and genuine as Gina, you'll never go anywhere else again! I have very long hair (it goes down to the top of my but) and I never worry that she's going to take too much off. That's usually a huge concern for people with long hair, that the hair dresser will take too much off. Gina cuts EXACTLY what you either show her you want off, or that she shows you she thinks should be taken off, no more, no less. I just got my hair cut, about a week ago by Gina and I walked out of Hair's Talent like I always do... Feeling like a million bucks, knowing that my hair is now on point! They both have a loyal client base and are very good at discussing what kind of look you are going for and how it would suit you. I have never seen anybody leave this salon in anger or regret. I drive from the Bronx every few weeks just to see Kristen that is how pleased I am with my look and treatment. She gives me a beautful cut and color that is easy to maintain (I am a single mother that works full time) I am constantly getting complimented even weeks after my last appointment. Lucky for me, I was able to get an appointment with Marisa for a cut on a recent visit back to Hamden, June 3, 2015. I have the best haircuts from Marisa, she really takes the time with my hair. It can be a challenge to get it just right due to the thickness and natural wave. Now I am trying to figure out how to schedule my next trip back to Hamden to see Marisa again. She is the best!
