Started out great..... then went downhill. It has been just over a year since we had our deck done and it is peeling. The guarantee was for 5 years. Jeff was very thorough in his delivery and explanation of the process prior to the job beginning. Key quoted note " we will not come out and stain/paint when the temperature is above 80 plus degrees, the surface is too hot and will not hold the stain/paint. Well he sent his one guy out to complete the floor part of the deck in what was well over 80 degrees. The poor kid was a mess, He was doing everything he could to stay cool and his stamina was slowing down, and he was spreading the stain so thin, I asked him about it and he said that is all they have. I called Jeff and told him he should not be out here in these temps, what about your statement regarding that, he tried to convince me it was just fine, and he needs to finish up today. I was very upset and told the worker he does not need to do this, he had to continue. Well fast forward.. the deck is peeling in the exact places where the temps on the deck exceeded his temps. Rather than own up to it, he is blaming Sherwin Williams as faulty product. Funny how no other area is peeling like the floor. I told him I am sorry about that but you need to come back out and take care of it. He argued that is is not his fault and asked if would join him in a class action claim ? I initially though ok maybe a good idea. But then I realized let him fight this battle, I am the customer and whatever you decide to do with Sherwin Williams is his battle. Just please come out and live up to your warranty and take care of the deck . To date I have reached out and no FOLLOW UP. I can provide photos, copies of the agreement if anyone would like to see it. Bottom line is I paid for the service and he is required to take care of me the customer, and worry about the quality of the stain/paint to him and Sherwin Williams. That day no one should have come out and paint in that heat. I told him I have a gallon of stain I bought and if necessary he can use. ( how can a contractor run out of stain) usually the customer is left some for spot touch ups. I will give him a chance to make all this right and rescind my negative comments if he takes care of the problem. read more
