I'm not a fanboy of French food as I think it can be a bit heavy at times, but boy oh boy was this place great! The salmon was perfectly cooked( with a slightly raw interior, served on some of the best roasted vegetables you can imagine. Around it was a delicious sesame ribbon breadstick, absolutely amazing. They also gave us some complementary rose and a shot of lentil consomme, all excellent. The prices were elevated a bit, most diners arrived in jackets, so it if definitely a higher end joint, but it is probably one of the few French themed places I will seek out again. And if you like French fare in the slightest, or even if you are slightly against it, it is definitely worth a try. Oh and since it's a French place I should also mention the bread was served as petite almost crossaint shaped rolls with the balance of a crispy, toasted crust and a perfectly leavened yet glutinous and porous pliable interior. It was so good we saved it for dessert and it was a fantastic finish. Happy eating from John Seeto!

EAR-MAIMING MUSIC. pianist playing elevator music with constant blunders -- one of the people in my party, a pianist herself, was going insane. lol. service good, slow. pros: the waiter Oscar was highly professional and kind. the best thing i tasted was the Sancerre. good wine list cons: the bad food, ambience, bad music, .....bad food....

An uncomp romising luxury experience. Full stop…read more Diego the chef's love for his craft exudes through each course of the meal in ingredients, taste and presentation. Thom the Captain and his service team set a perfect table in a perfect table accompanied with classic French service that was at once intimate with the warmth of sharing stories with family. Francisco's unique Vulcan tequila cocktail started the feast. A citrus, rosemary, tequila glass of Spring coming to life in your mouth. Next was learning to and then opening a bottle of Krug with a saber. A first for us. Two of the courses: foie gras and octopus were also a first to me. To just say foie gras and octopus is akin to describing a PB & J sandwich and doesn't do justice to the private chef experience. These courses, along with Diego's version of onion soup, buttermilk - truffle- caviar butter and different breads; the white fish and rhubarb emulsion; beef tartare with flavors never before combined - subtle and lush at the the same time; squash blossoms with mushrooms; glazed octopus; a lemony-passion fruit marshmallow and finally - my favorite dessert - chocolate soufflé with salted caramel ice cream - all accompanied by a bottle of Krug and perfectly matched Pinot Noir from Provence that you'd never guess was a Pinot Noir given it's rich and full body. There is no other way to say it -- it was 3+ hour food orgy but not overdone. Plates garnished with cauliflower dust, micro coriander, flower petals giving certain dishes a little heat akin to wasabi. I can't describe it all but all the courses were sophisticated with flavor profiles that awakened all your senses. From the beauty to smell and taste it was a sensation. The portions were appropriate in size for the feast we experienced. I can't recommend the La Krug Table experience more. I am at a loss why it is not listed everywhere as the #1 restaurant event in Mexico City, if not Latin America. Thanks guys -- come visit in California.

But we heard the buzz about Monsieur Croque in Roma Norte, and we figured we'd test the hype. Our move? We arrived just after opening and walked right to a table, which is the only way to do it here. Don't let the size fool you--it's a small-to-medium spot, but it's a constant revolving door. People flow in, they eat, they flow out, and the line outside starts forming fast. Clearly, this place is the anchor for brunch in the neighborhood. We went with a holy trinity of items, and every one of them was operating on a level I wasn't ready for. - The Croissant'wich: The pastry was buttery and held its structure, and the filling wasn't just stuffed in--it was seriously seasoned. It was savory, rich, and exactly what you want from a brunch sandwich. - The Avocado Toast: I've had more than enough bland avo toast to last a lifetime. This one is different. The bread was robust, the toppings were generous, and the overall flavor profile was precise. They know how to use salt and pepper (and whatever else they're sprinkling on there) without overdoing it. - The French Toast: It was fluffy, tender, and achieved that rare balance where it was sweet without being syrupy or heavy (they actually use a berry compote rather than syrup). It's the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes for a second. If you're in Roma Norte and need a solid breakfast/brunch that's beyond the usual fare, hit up Monsieur Croque. Go early, grab a coffee, and get ready for a serious meal. The vibe is chill, the service is tight, and the food is pretty tasty. 4/5 stars. If you see me standing in that line next time, you know it's worth the wait.

If you're into healthy flavours, you'll like it. With no additives, the flavours depend on what's added so it's not a crazy flavour. Two of us had the avocado toasts - one bacon and one salmon. The bacon had an obscene amount of bacon on it. We shared around the table. And the salmon was more conservative. I think there was a whole avocado on the toast. Toast was a little too toasted for me, was more like a crouton and the salmon avocado toasts lacked a spice to it. It needed some chili flakes to finish the dish or a sharp cheese. The French toast was like a sweet, eggy brioche. Delicious. No complaints. Don't get it if you don't like sweet things. The coffee and tea drinks we had were good but not the best I've had. I like a spicy chai and the chai was a little weak in flavour. The mocha was delicious and very close to my favourite. The next door bakery and panadería (Ficelle) is the star of the show. We tried two pastries which were well-stuffed and very flaky. Excellent. I'll update my review once we eat the pastries! And likely put them on the Ficelle location.

There are several different little restaurants in a row and we decided to try Catalina. It exceeded all expectations! First, the ambience, decor, bar area, music and wait staff were all top notch! Five star all the way around. We had an excellent red wine and superb service from start to finish. They have an excellent cocktail and wine list, full bar, and everything from the most delicious appetizers and soups and salads to entrees and desserts. You cannot go wrong with this place. I highly recommend it and will revisit!!!

Different perspectives on Pain Perdu, Tartines, Ouefs en Cocotte, and Croque Monsieurs are to be found on nearly every corner in La Condesa & La Roma. Catalina is part of this newer outbreak of French cookeries, offering its own take on dishes from la belle France. Stepping into Catalina is a mixture of different cultures, experiences and ambiances. The seating outside follows the norm of La Roma, of happy, well-off types sipping coffee, wine, or beer, depending on the hour; the inside with its own unique scene: a Parisian look with a bright interior and elegant table settings on marble countertops; the decor following a New York aesthetic, a couple of pictures of Penn Station hanging on a bright white wall that round out a Brooklyn-like vibe; the owner sitting in the back, watching with vigilant eyes, inspecting every aspect of service. The meal, in the morning, starts with baked goods, which are made in a neighboring bakery. The conchas are flavorful albeit an odd texture, the croissants and pain aux amandes full of flakiness and buttery goodness. The breakfast menu is short but appetizing. The open faced sandwiches are one of the most delicious offerings, Pan Campesino is topped off with scrambled eggs, shaved cheeses, and seasonal mushrooms. The frittata is also a good option, served in an iron skillet with a couple of slices of artisanal bread. The often photographed Pan Francés is indeed a pretty sight. Served with a poached egg, scallions, maple syrup, and a thick slice of bacon, it is meant to portray a play of sweetness and saltiness, and although personally I am not convinced about the flavor combinations, most people crave fried chicken and waffles, so I will leave it up to those who enjoy these kind of things. It seems that gastronomes everywhere cannot get enough French food, and even though I believe Mexicans should be proud of their own cuisine and should endeavor more and more to explore the vastness and depth of Mexican gastronomy, having a piece of sweet French toast readily available is a good option to have.
