After purchasing what should be every coffee lovers bible - The Good Cafe Guide for 2014, I went through the cafes in the Eastern suburbs where I live, and to my shock there was one I hadn't heard of before. Arthur Radley. How that was possible I'm not sure, but I'm very glad I found it. It's slightly different to the current trend of cafe that is fit out with exposed brick and treated timber benches (probably a salute to their ability to hang around in a industry where cafes turn over very quickly), and is themed in a fascinating manner around How to Kill a Mockingbird.
I went with some friends for brunch, so we were able to try out a fair bit of their interesting menu. It's not your conventional menu, with ingredients such as crab and steak used in the dishes, which is fun to try out. All three meals were throughly enjoyed, light and tasty whilst being very filling. Coffee is made with Mailing Room beans, a staple throughout cafes in the East, which does the job very well.
There were also adverts around the cafe mentioning dinner menus available on certain days, which appeared to be Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. From my experience for brunch, I'd be very keen to try Arthur Radley out for dinner as well! read more
