Doesn't listen to me...jumps to conclusions before fully understanding and when you talk and try to explain further details he cuts you off and gets more mad saying that "I don't understand the human body". On top of that the whole point of my appointment was to get tested for other possible allergens, which he didn't do. Dr Lubitz has been my go to MD for allergies and congestion for many years. When he first treated me, many years ago, no one was able to help control, let alone get rid of my congestion. I have had a few bad experiences with this office. I had one appointment cancelled ten minutes before my visit because the doctor had a dentist appointment. My pharmacy and I tried reaching out for a dose clarification for a prescription with a high dose and never heard back. I just left the office after traveling an hour to get there only to be told when I arrived that the medication I needed wasn't available and was still waiting for insurance approval - since December of last year. The office had the foresight to call me last week to tell me the doctor was leaving early and my appointment needed to be moved up but didn't think to mention that the medication wasn't available at all? Dr. Lubitz is a really kind doctor. He takes time to listen to your everyday lifestyle to find the root to your allergies. He was very knowledgeable as a doctor - and took the time to explain everything in detail. I would recommend him highly to family, friends, at colleagues. During my visit, I felt comfortable in the office, staff seemed very happy and kind. They were also eager to answer any questions that I had. The only reason my review is 4 stars instead of five, is because I had a prescription sent to my pharmacy and I had to call numerous times to get my prescription. It's the only doctors office this has ever happened with. The allergist receptionist was always with a client when I called, so I would have to wait another ten minutes for her to contact the pharmacy. She had said she waited an hour on hold - but I went back the next day, all same pharmacists, and the prescription was never called in. Here I am sitting at home, two visits to the pharmacy without my prescription and no follow up phone call to my personal number from the office. It is very upsetting. Ironic - am looking for an allergist and his name came up first. Good RP company I guess. Saw him some years ago when I was having a severe, undiagnosed skin rash. I was in severe discomfort. He did NOT diagnose it. All he had to say was he thought it was nerves. I said clearly I do NOT want an anti-depressant. So what did he do? Prescribed an anti-depressant! That old "I dont care what you think, I'm the doctor and I know best" just doesn't fly anymore. After starting my appointment about 45 minutes late - I was actually harassed by this doctor - was told I was overweight (I'm not). He made assumptions about my family based on my last name (truly mind blowing). Never have I been so uncomfortable in an appointment before. He barely listened to my symptoms and was just convinced that I had a sinus problem. I was told to sit in the waiting room during my Percut allergy skin test... only to have it wiped off without the doctor reviewing the hives on my arms. I was told the cost of the test was "normal" and nothing to raise an eyebrow about.THEN i received a bill for $900 for this "normal" test. Plus a $300 bill for the appointment itself. This doctor is highly unprofessional. Save your money and go somewhere else. If you do decide to roll the dice definitely get prices from your insurance company before you submit to any tests. Thank you to Regina in accounting for hearing me out and taking some $$ off the preposterous bill. Here's to hoping I actually receive some record of these skin test "results." Coming from the allergy department at MGH, maybe my standards were set too high when I moved, but from my first appointment where they scheduled me incorrectly, to then not transferring my vials like they said they would (ultimately wasting my time coming in for an appointment where they didn't even have my shots), to the way their desk staff acts as though they couldn't care less about anything you have to say (I ask to schedule my next appointment and get a look of pure disdain)...it's my least favorite time of the week having to come in for my allergy shots. Not only that, but something as simple as never having pain with my injections with my old doctor administering them to now always being stabbed in the arm here, I'm trying to find another allergist. read more

I've been going to Dr Lubitz for a little over a year with cough variant asthma and he's been a real lifesaver. Having a constant cough for months at a time is physically and emotionally exhausting and going to doctors who didn't seem to listen or care made the process feel even more hopeless. Dr Lubitz is the only doctor I've seen since I moved here 4 years ago who not only listens and cares but goes well above and beyond to improve my health. If something he prescribes doesn't work, he wants to hear about it ASAP so he can try something else. He always makes himself available to his patients and truly wants to help. I really liked Dr. Lubitz. I didn't have to wait long to see him and I got to spend time with him specifically, instead of a nurse. He was very knowledgeable, reassuring and confident about diagnosing the rash and also confident that he could effectively treat the rash. He was very concerned about my rash and recommended a wonderful dermatologist (Dr. Alvarez), so that a second person could take a look at it. He told me that after the rash heals up, we would do tests to figure out what caused it. When I came back for the allergy patch testing, Dr. Lubitz again was very thoughtful and expressed concern that it might be uncomfortable with it on since it had been so hot the past few days so he let me decide whether I wanted to do the patch test that day or postpone it. I decided to go ahead with it because I really wanted to know what I was allergic to, so Dr. Lubitz had his female PA put the patch test on my back. She put plenty of tape around it to make sure it stayed in place and even with all that tape, I still managed to get it a little messed up within the 2 days I had it on. Thankfully it wasn't as itchy or uncomfortable as I thought it would be. Next appointment, Dr. Lubitz took the patch test off my back and read it, then let me know what I was allergic to. I made another appointment with him for a few days later, so he could check my back to see if there were any delayed allergic reactions and there was one. We talked about the allergies, then Dr. Lubitz entered the products I was allergic to into a database and sent me more information (via email) about the allergies and a long list of products that are SAFE for me to use, which is invaluable. He also did a pollen test on my skin and nothing turned up for that, thank goodness! I really appreciated how thorough, caring and funny Dr. Lubitz was. read more

I have been getting allergy shots for over 10 years and have not had to stay after a shot (for observation) since my first two years of treatment. After waiting over 30 minutes, the nurse (a blonde woman) saw me. She did not have my serums ready and gave me attitude when I asked if I would have to stay after the shots. After I kindly declined to stay (stating my previous experience with shots) she brought in the doctor who frustratedly told me that staying after shots is a standard procedure. I again cited my previous experiences with shots. After agreeing that I could take my serums and go elsewhere for shots, the nurse went behind the reception area RIPPED UP MY FILE FOR ALL TO SEE and said to a receptionist, "She is no longer our patient." Although I had a sour experience at this allergist, it is important to note how kind, patient, and helpful the reception staff was to me. read more

I stand by my original review. Dr. Lubitz has saved my life. Seriously. The Xolair has been a tremendous help.. I still get sporadic hives maybe here or there but only when I forget to take my 1 daily Clairitin and 1 daily Zyrtec (generic). I can't say it'll help all people suffering CIU or Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria (welt like hives), but before I started Xolair I had researched like a maniac about it and connected with a few fellow people online and we actually keep in touch with one another now. This disease, autoimmune thing is no joke. Very scary stuff. I have a few more monthly shots left and then I'm done.. probably. One note, the Xolair KNOCKS ME OUT the next day or two following the shots. I feel like I'm on the Gravitron ride and I just stay in bed and rest. But it's basically biohacking as it reprograms your body to not attack so itself so it makes sense. God bless Dr Lubitz! read more

He was absolutely no help when I went into his office with an allergic reaction to something; he scraped a pen cap along my arm and just shrugged; all he did was talk about himself and bragged that he knew celebrities. The office is incredibly poorly run and frankly, it outweighs the quality of treatment. You will wait a minimum of 30 minutes regardless of how early you are for your appointment or when your appointment is. For example, I had a 8am appointment (technically first appt of the day) and it is now 8:27 - still haven't seen the doctor. And no, there hasn't been an emergency visit - patients are just quadruple booked for each time. Each appointment runs 1.5-2 hours in my experience (30-45 minutes waiting, 10-15 minutes seeing doc; another 15 mins waiting if you need a shot or a test, 5 mins for shot or test, and then potentially more waiting if you need to quickly see doc again regarding results) While it seems like Dr. Lubitz is good at what he does and has an instinct for diagnosis and treatment (at least based on my last two visits), I am strongly considering switching allergists. I work incredibly long hours and do not have time for an office that is run this poorly. To the office, I want to note it is incredibly inconsiderate and rude to patients. Have you considered optimizing the schedule so you can see patients on time and they are in and out the door in 15 minutes (vs seeing 6 patients at a time and having them all in for 90 minutes). read more

Dr. Lubitz is incredibly thorough and gives you the knowledge to succeed. I came in after developing atopic dermatitis. He gave me a list of likely irritants, we did a patch test, and compared what I'm allergic to to the products I use on the daily. I'm relieved to have found a doctor who takes his time and tries to see the big picture. I now have a list of products I can use and my skin already looks better. If I could do 0 stars, I actually would! I'm a pretty easy-going person but almost everything I have experienced has been pretty unacceptable and here's why? The Story: As I get older, I've noticed I have become more and more sensitive to beauty and health products (Shampoos & Conditions, lotions, makeup, etc) and then my pollen allergies, although not so apparent here in NY, have become worse as I visit the west so I thought it was time to see a professional. I got pricked and I got patch, pretty standard and my results came back January 30th. Dr. Lubitz asked for a list of products I use so he can compare it to the results so I know what to look for. Again, pretty standard. Results got emailed and I got a list of what I can use but no words on why I can't use any of the products I gave him. It even says in the report that even though I can use the products listed in the report, I still need to read the ingredients list to make sure their formula hasn't changed. So I call and leave a message to talk to the doctor. I asked for an email address but the office said they can't give it out and you just use the contact form on the website. Weird, why did he say he always will email you back? Well, I also put a request in the contact us form on the site. Next day, still nothing so i called back. The dr. eventually called back and I said I had a question about my allergy results and the first thing out of his mouth, "did you google?" Please, don't tell me to google because 1) Of course, I did 2) You shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet anyway 3) Shouldn't you help me because you're a doctor and this is your speciality? I finally got answers (if you want to call it that) on March 11th. If you recall, my results came January 30th? Over a month and guess what, he still did not tell me the reasons to why I'm allergic to any of the products I handed him. I gave him the ingredients list and even separated it by what I haven't and have reacted to. Just so you know, I'm allergic to propolis. He was not proactive and did not follow through. I understand that an allergy to propolis isn't as common but he could've told me that from the beginning that he didn't know. I even have an email of him saying, I googled too but I couldn't find much. (umm? thanks...) Now, I'm trying to get the results of the tests so I don't have to re-do it all. I called last week 3/12 and the receptionist took my info and said she'd call me back. It's 3/19 and I have not heard a call back. I called again today and the receptionist took my info and said the same thing. I said, excuse me, someone said that last week and I did not hear back. I want my results. The lady was rude, and you can tell she was rolling her eyes and annoyed. Obviously, I was too. Aren't customers supposed to be treated better? I just needed to know what to do to get them without having to show up. Maybe you'll have better luck but I sure didn't! read more

Oh what can I say? I know Dr. Lubitz is going to be reading this review, since we talked about Yelp and how he only has 4 reviews, and I also know that he's going to be a very familiar face for the next few weeks or so because I'm so allergic to everything! The office was bustling and I was worried that he would make me go in & out. But as soon as I sat down with him, he seemed like he wanted to get to know me and didn't seem rushed at all! Everything that everyone wrote was very true -- He himself thinks he's a funny man, and he is! He knows a lot about California and since that's where I'm from, we got along very well. I started off doing some testing on my arms, and of course my whole right arm puffs up. I started coughing at some point of the testing and I think I freaked everyone out because they thought my throat was closing. I wasn't even sure what was going on because before I knew it, they were whizzing by me, giving me an epi shot and putting a mask over my face. Definitely proves that they take extreme measures when they are worried about you! I felt like they cared about me and wanted to help me instead of squeeze money out of me through my crappy insurance. I like how they have several different locations and that they can accommodate new clients. They took the time to talk to me not only about my allergies, but about my life and my concerns. He handed me about 3-4 inhalers for FREE and a prescription that was only $6. (Yes, I'm a sick child) I also knew that I had been struggling with allergies all my life and never got it checked out. I can't believe that it's possible to be cured from my allergies and I think I'll definitely be coming back to make it happen! ...Is it bad that I like my allergist better than my doctor & dentist? read more

Ah, this guy. Dr. Lubitz is a hoot and a wonderful, chatty guy. I definitely appreciate a doctor who'll give me the real story on medications I need (and whether or not a generic is available) along with which hypoallergenic items are necessary and which ones are just preying on the pockets of sneezers. I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to get into the doctor's office (a rarity in Manhattan), and I've always left more informed than when I started. He gave me an allergy test and told me I was free of allergies, then prescribed some simple antibiotics, and my nose infection went away just like that! Dr. L is chatty, friendly, funny and very helpful. When he asked how I came to know about his practice, I mentioned my fiance's name and he immediately knew who I was talking about, even asking about specific medications he prescribed him more than 2 months prior. I especially appreciated the straight-talk about generic options for prescriptions, and the fact that he actually encouraged me to try methods that would mean I would not have to be a regular patient of his. Dr. L practices out of multiple convenient locations, so scheduling an appointment with him was super easy. (Incidentally, I notice that Yelp screened out 15 reviews for Dr.L that would have put his overall rating at almost 5 stars, even from more established Yelpers. I had my first appointment with Dr. Lubitz today. He is a definitely a character. He even said to me that he sometimes gets bad reviews because he talks too much or tells too many jokes. To me, I found it very endearing, it put me at ease, and even may have gotten me to reveal things that may not have come out in the normal doctor interrogation. I really felt that he got to know me, my background, my life habits, and my health issues. In fact, I found he was so intuitive about people, that HE told ME about some aspects about my life! I went to their Murray Hill offices. It's a little hidden behind Grand Central station, but convenient to get to. The office space is not fancy, a no-frills space, but I had no problem with that. A nurse administered my allergy test and then Dr. Lubitz came back and told me my results. I had a blood test that the doctor will call me back with my results. I've read some other reviews both on Yelp and other websites complaining about making appointments on their website. Since I did it the old-fashioned way, by phone, I didn't have a problem. I would definitely recommend him and I will definitely be back if I have further problems with allergies (which I hope I don't). read more

I recently found Dr. Lubitz. Again, that is. You see, when I was growing up, I had a ton of allergies (similar to now) and I had a specialist I saw in my hometown, just North of Manhattan. Years later, I'm living in Manhattan, but my allergies are still going strong. In fact, I've had trouble sleeping because of them. I found Dr. Lubitz who ran a full battery of tests for allergies. He also put me through a number of tests to explore my deviated septum. He's been super thorough. Well now, I'm enjoying the simple pleasure that most people take for granted. You know, breathing? Dr. Lubitz has been a real life-saver for me. I have been suffering with a litany of allergies forever, and have dealt with too many unresponsive doctors to count. I found Dr. Lubitz through my insurance company and I thank my lucky stars that I did. He is incredibly patient and thoughtful. He asked me a lot of questions, allowed me to give my whole history without just jumping to conclusions. He reached out to my other doctors immediately (dermatologist, rheumatologist) to ensure that they were all on the same page before prescribing anything. Unlike other allergists I have been to, when I said that I thought foods might be a trigger, he didn't blow me off with the old "there is no such thing as adult-onset food allergy" which is crazy but I have been told this by 2 other doctors! Dr. Lubitz respects my preference to simply cover up my symptoms with strong meds, and instead try to pinpoint the underlying cause. He did a bunch of research on his own time and called me with his findings - once even on a Sunday. In fact, he also called me the day after my initial visit just to check on me. I am really glad to be working with Dr. Llubitz. There is no magic bullet for me, I realize that, but after years of dealing with eczema, fevers and hives, I finally feel like I am at least on a path to recovery. read more

He really knows his stuff from a straight allergies perspective (like when the seasons change, where different plant pollens come from, times of day or month when they're at their worst. He also did some crazy due diligence to get acquainted with my medical history to figure out any anomalies besides genetic predisposition that might have been causing my allergies. In doing this he made some crazy connections that i wouldn't have thought could cause allergies like my thyroid and my birth control! In addition to digging into my medical history he spent a lot of time getting to know me as a person which really helped me feel comfortable getting pricked with 30 different allergens to figure out what was troubling me. In that time he made me laugh a ton and forget how miserable I was feeling! Lastly, he was extremely mindful of the cost of what he was prescribing. In short, Dr. Lubitz is heroic. After seeing five other doctors about an excruciatingly painful and endlessly frustrating medical issue, I finally found the doctor who will help me! Within moments of meeting him, I knew that he had at least two things the other doctors I had seen sorely lacked: he cared about me and my situation and was dedicated to finding out what was going on. Dr. Lubitz is the kind of doctor that kids in medical school should aim to be: extremely smart, hilarious, sweet, and puts patients first. While juggling several other patients in other rooms, he made sure I had everything that I needed for my first scratch test and made sure that all went well afterward. He made me feel like my situation mattered to him, a feeling I rarely get from doctors. My next appointment was setting up a patch test, one that only happened because Dr. Lubitz took a bunch of time to research dozens of allergens he thought could be causing my condition. The day after my patch test (which was supposed to remain on for 48 hours), I started having a really bad reaction to it, and his office got me in only a couple of hours after I called. When I got there, Dr. Lubitz immediately brought me back into the exam room and immediately got the patches off me and rubbed a soothing cream on my back. It was such a relief! I had completely fallen to bits (what can I say, I'm a crier), but he reassured me that it would get better. After a few minutes my back felt nearly back to normal, and I'm seeing him again in a few days to see what reactions happened from the test. Though we haven't yet figured out what's causing my allergic reaction, I am confident that Dr. Lubitz will solve my problem. I know that he is as dedicated to that result as I am, and it is such a relief to be in the caring hands of Dr. Lubitz and his team. Also, he has several offices throughout Manhattan, so he's always within quick reach. I've been to his offices on 57th St (for regular appointments) and E 40th St (for my emergency OMG HELP ME! visit). Dr.Lubitz has been my allergist since 1996. Dr.Lubitz understands that asthma is different from person to person. He treats his patients individually and knows that different treatment methods work for different people. He's unusually intelligent and understands the physiology of asthma like no other Dr I've encountered. He has good staff, with moderate wait times. Dr. Lubitz is one of the MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE doctors I have ever met. He is not only an expert in his field, but has demonstrated a great understanding of the health/medical field in general. I have enjoyed my experience with Dr. Lubitz so much that I value his recommendations for all other doctors that I see as well. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM MORE. HE IS TRULY SPECTACULAR. I first visited Dr. Lubitz in 2016 at his FiDi location. I was suffering from a particularly bad spring allergy season here in NYC after spending a few years in North Carolina. Dr. Lubitz took time to explain why my body was reacting differently to the allergies in New York vs. those down south. He explained the different pollen/tree allergens and never made me feel rushed- despite having a full waiting room! He took time to ask about my medical/health history to make sure his treatment plan was one that worked well for ME. Most doctors may suggest allergy shots, or simply avert to what works well for other patients or may bring in the most money. NOT Dr. Lubitz- he provides a highly specialized plan. He chose a route for me that included eye drops, nasal spray and prescription pills. He decided it was best to avoid shots as I already take monthly injections for a skin disease called psoriasis. I couldn't be more thankful for his WELL THOUGHT-OUT, HIGHY CUSTOMIZED plan. I have survived every allergy season since feeling great. Over the past 4 years of working with Dr. Lubitz, I have learned more about my medical history than I could have imagined through our short discussions. I learned that my sensitivity to eating raw apples (itchy throat) actually stems from my pollen allergy. I learned a bit of history and how my genetic makeup of being Northern European may cause some of the reactions my body has to certain medications. Dr. Lubitz is VERY INTELLIGENT and WELL-READ. Dr. Lubitz is one of the greatest docs I have ever been to, if not THE greatest. If all docs were like him, then they wouldnt have the rep that they do. He is very personable, caring and of course very knowledgable. He takes the time to not only understand the symptoms, but also the patient. I love that he takes a step back to see the bigger picture...and because of that, he was able to give me a lot of new insight on my own situation. The staff was nice/accommodating as well and there was little wait time. If you have allergies/asthma...there is no other doc you should see! It may be corny to say he changed my life. but in the new approach I have now taken with my allergies and asthma, I can say he did. Thanks! read more

Dr. Lubitz is one of the most thorough Allergists (and Doctor, for that matter) that I have been to. He has a wonderful bedside manner and really took the time getting to know me and my ailments. Although this was only my first time here, I felt so reassured that, in time, he will be able to get me feeling better.
