I'd love to focus my review on the excellent doctors of Hudson Allergy, and the techs who have made years of monthly allergy shots something pleasant. Unfortunately, due to horrible billing practices and absolute apathy by whoever oversees billing, I haven't been back in months and will likely never return. Hudson Allergy bills thousands of dollars for the creation of vials for immunotherapy, a procedure with an average out-of-network cost (per Fair Health Consumer) of around $50. The total cost of this more than 400% markup was billed in chunks to get around a limit my insurance imposes on how much a provider can bill at once. A large part of that cost now falls on me, since my insurance doesn't think that this was for a single date of service based on how the charges were entered. After many, many emails back and forth between me, my insurance, and the billing department, the issue is still unresolved due to "incomplete information" 6 months later. Mind you, I had to bother the billing department just to get them to send my insurance verification on the dates of service as though that were some gargantuan task. You might think this means that their billing department is stretched too thin to do this for every patient that requests it, but you'd better believe they're VERY quick to call you up on not making enough payments and threatening to send you to collections over a balance you're not even sure is correct. As I write this today, the automated emails on my outstanding balance keep rolling in. I am happy to amend this review to focus solely on the excellent care I've received at Hudson Allergy and how wonderful it is to have my allergy symptoms under control. Until this nightmare tangle of billing is resolved, however, I can't recommend that you go here to pay more for something you can apparently get far cheaper and (hopefully) with less of a billing headache at another allergist in the area. read more

Just had my first appoint with Dr. Rushita Mehta this week for allergy testing. She was extremely thorough in getting my medical history and assessing what I would need out of the exam. The appointment, including allergy testing and assessment, took about 45 minutes in total. Quick and efficient, and she knows her stuff! The office itself was spotless and everyone was extremely friendly. Making an appointment on ZocDoc was super easy and the location is convenient. 5 stars well deserved! read more

Sadly it seems like this place only cares about money. My 5 yr old daughter starts kindergarten at a new school and I kindly requested that allergy forms be filled out before the start of school so they can administer an epi pen. Because my daughter was seen on September 23rd of 2022 they refused to sign the papers unless my daughter came in for an appointment because we were coming up on the year mark. The soonest the doctor was available was the first day of school. I said no problem, I can schedule an appointment and come that day but can you please just have the papers filled out, god forbid something happens that first day of school so they can administer the meds. They refused and said it's company policy. Exceptions should be made, especially since it has to do with the safety of my daughter and her severe food allergies. Shame on you Hudson Allergy. I will be finding another practice for my daughter. read more

Dr. Mainardi is the man! I was very pleased with my visit to Hudson Allergy. Before I get into why the doc was awesome, let's just talk about the office for a sec. This is easily one of the trendiest and cleanest doctor offices that I've ever visited. The lobby looks more like a West Elm than a waiting room and I had zero wait time for my visit- both glorious things. The doctor is extremely personable and friendly. He took the time to chat with me about all of my allergy issues, and I did not feel rushed at all. It's definitely frustrating when doctors rush you through an appointment and that is completely not the case here. It was apparent that the doctor genuinely cared about my allergy issues and making them better! He also knows his stuff. He had a through explanation and solution to address all of my concerns. Talk to him for one minute and you can tell that he is an expert in the field. I've had terrible allergies for the past few months, and after taking medication prescribed by the doctor I'm already feeling back to normal. Allergies can be an absolute pain, and it's nice to know that I have a reliable doctor to visit when I'm feeling sick. Strongly reccomend Hudson Allergy if you are being plagued with allergies and need help- they'll fix you up in no time! read more

It was super easy, no hassle, and technology friendly. Right after booking my appointment, the office sent me link to sign up for their patient portal, which include patient forms and insurance information prior to appointment. I also received a text reminder of my appointment and shortly after my appointment a text to thank me for the visit and a quick survey. I met with Dr.Tim Mainardi. He is thorough and took the time to listen and explain everything I have. The nurse was also very approachable and took the time to explain the process and the allergy test. Dr. M is one of the best physicians I've ever seen. Extremely knowledgeable, explains concepts in an understandable way, impeccable bedside manner. My allergies are severe, often causing me to miss work and my previous doctors on the West coast would give me quarterly steroid shots. Dr. M instead approached my treatment plan with safety first in mind. Being on immunotherapy significantly improved my symptoms over time and the three office locations are located close to major transportation hubs, making it easy to get your shots. This review is for their telephone system. I think it's outsourced because every time you call they seem more and more incompetent and dense about the doctors, insurance or other information. If you call before 11am the phone just rings and you have to call several times in a row before someone answers the phone. The customer service is really poor and their operators lack proper phone etiquette. Another thing I noticed recently is a lot of the allergist are leaving or have decreased their appointments to part-time. The only reason I keep going are for the allergy shots because they really do help. read more

Dr. Julie Kuriakose is simply the best doctor I've ever had. She's corrected two major misdiagnoses for me so she has literally changed my life. First, in both New Jersey and in Florida I had allergists tell me I needed to get allergy shots for the remainder of my entire life. I believed them and followed along even though it didn't feel like the right thing. Finally after years of shots I saw Dr. Kuriakose and she told me that this was incorrect, that the body needs a break from the shots, and that after a few years the shots should be effective enough to allow you to come off of them. I had doctors in two different states who were lying to me and just trying to make me a lifetime patient to get my money. Dr. Kuriakose estimated that I probably had one to two unnecessary years worth of shots. Second, the NJ and FL doctors also failed to diagnose me as asthmatic. I've been through breathing tests three different times and all my other doctors never discussed the results with me. After testing me and hearing me talk about my difficult time breath after exercising Dr. Kuriakose finally diagnosed me as being asthmatic and prescribed me an inhaler. There is absolutely no reason someone should go undiagnosed with asthma until they are 29. I am so very thankful to Dr. Kuriakose that finally someone acknowledged me and took the time to figure out what is wrong with me. She's amazing. And the icing on the cake is that the office is clean, the receptionists are nice, and it's super easy to make an appointment. I have Federal Employee BCBS and everything was covered. This is absolutely the allergy office to go to. read more

TLDR: You're better off buying the food allergy test from amazon which tests 95 allergens for $239 than come to this farce and unknowingly be charged $2000+. I came to this clinic because it had such high reviews on Yelp, but my experience was pretty terrible. Before everything began I had a conversation with the front desk, who took my insurance card and told me that because they were in-network, they have a good deal with my insurance regarding price. I asked approximately how much I would be charged and how many allergens would be tested, and the answer was "it depends but since we are in-network, your insurance would be paying for most of it." Although I was hoping for any kind of estimate, I thought ok maybe it was reasonable that I wouldn't know until I was seen by the doctor. But I like to triple and quadruple check because the last doctor I went to charged my insurance $1700 for the visit alone. While the doctor was friendly, in conversation I feel like he was putting on a show, reciting from a pre-composed fact sheet that he regurgitates to each patient. Anyway, it just didn't do it for me, but I didn't think much of it, maybe he had side gig in acting, or he was just one of those people who were smart and really liked to show it? I asked again right after speaking with the doctor and right before receiving the test how many allergens would be tested. The answer remained "it depends". I then asked again as I was getting the test, and the answer was 70. This allergy test essentially did nothing, and what I mean by this is that I didn't even get any reactions from the controlled test. My bill somehow came out to be over $2000 and I still had to pay over $1000 out of pocket despite having one of the most comprehensive private health insurance plans possible. The girl on the phone at the billing department tried to be helpful and break the costs down for me, but ultimately there was nothing she could do. read more

This place is good. Today I went to see an allergist for some issues I have been having involving itching and such. I saw Tricia Lee. She was able to see me quickly but, was very thorough and friendly. She was able to initially see me and give me some quick tips/first steps to see what is causing my problem. Overall, I liked this facility. It is easy to find and access. It is also very close to the World Trade Center PATH station (about a 6 minute walk) so, it was easy for me to get there, considering I live in Jersey City. read more

I have allergies, but not the fatal kind. I am allergic to cats, dogs, and dust. I had a doctor in Miami prescribe me immunotherapy sublingual drops, a nasal steroid, and antihistamines. Few things are more frustrating than losing sleep from the agitation of congestion from a pet. I found Hudson Allergy on Yelp while searching allergists when I just needed a local doctor here in NYC. Dr. Mainardi was one of the most affable, articulate and helpful doctors that I have ever met. He was thorough, explaining to me exactly what was happening (it was engaging the way a TED talks speaker makes his or her subject interesting), provided an overview of all my options which would not only make my life easier, but also save me money. I am glad to call him my doctor from now on! The office is on the first floor and easily located from the street. The space itself is clean and perfectly kept. The staff is very friendly. It was overwhelming positive experience that I couldn't wait to write this review for other people to find this practice. read more

I went in for a pretty severe allergy to dogs (my fiancé really wanted a pet). We ended up getting a pet a year later -- so the shots definitely worked! I'm in "maintenance," which means I have to go at least 1x a month. As a result, I've visited this location 50+ times. I really wanted to give Hudson Allergy 5 stars because they changed my life. But, the customer service/front desk at the Tribeca location is so rude and unaccommodating that it is infuriating as a customer. So my monthly visits are bitter-sweet. The "sweet" being I no longer have to deal with allergies which have been nothing short of life-changing. The "bitter" part is being met by staff that doesn't share the same enthusiasm as the company. I dread appointments, and while you are supposed to stay for 30 minutes to make sure there are no adverse effects from your shots, I make sure to leave as quickly as possible since I definitely do not feel welcome at this office. read more

Dr Mainardi was great, but WOW does Hudson Allergy overcharge. My bill for a allergy skin test (usually around $200-400) was $1,600. I have great insurance, was all paid up on my deductible but the bill was so high I still had to pay out $92 myself. Be warned if you use Hudson Allergy - it is going to cost you, no matter how good your insurance is. read more

I have food/mold/pollen allergies beyond what should be allowed and yet I hadn't seen an allergist since 2006. When I started feeling like I might collapse after drinking beer, I decided to seek a new one out. I mean, who can live without beer?? So I called a few places and asked if they knew if they took BCBS insurance but under the federal basic plan. Not one but TWO allergist receptionists were mean to me and made me rethink my need for beer. Then, I landed upon Hudson Allergy (Julie Kuriakose) and the receptionist (Danielle) was SO nice and called my insurance for me to make sure I would be covered. Amazing. So I already knew this would be a good experience before even stepping foot in the office. They were able to see me the next day which is a huge plus. Dr. Kuriakose did the allergy testing that day and then scheduled another appointment for just a few days later for further allergy testing. She was SO thorough and talked to me about anything and everything I had concerns about. I am starting allergy shots again next week to see if we can get my allergies a little more under control (I did them for 2 yrs but apparently you need to do them for 3+ years for it to help long term). The only bad news from this experience is that, at least in my case, I really will have to live without beer. OOF. read more

It is conveniently located next to the express trains, so it is easy for me to get back uptown for work or to go back home. It took me a couple visits to write this review. I need to make sure before I write anything from a doctor. Here we go .... I used to live in CT and I had an amazing allergist. So after I moved to NYC (3years ago) it was very hard to find someone that would treat me nicely as him. I started my search a little more than a year ago because my allergies started to get worse. I went to 2 different doctors before Dr. Kuriakose and it was awful ... everything from not caring doctor to very bad nurses that you would come in, get your injection, walk out and they wouldn't even ask me how I was doing Well, this past month I went to Hudson Allergy Tribeca and Dr. Julie K. is the doctor I'm seeing. She took time to read my chart from my other doctor and explain what we were going to do from now on. She is very nice!. I love the fact that they have an online system that I can just send a message and she will have the answer in my next visit or even better, one time she type something and gave me to bring home. My allergies are bad so I need to get shots treatments. I started last week with the "Rush" shots. I was there for 4 hours and she would come to check on me between patients and also the nurse Elizabeth ( I hope I got her name right) she is super nice and caring. I believe when you choose a doctor, it needs to be about how professional they are, how they approach you, and how they treat you If they make you feel comfortable and I feel they care. I had a rash two weeks ago and nothing helps after seeing a dermatologist so I decided to go see an allergist for a different opinion. The receptionist to the doctors were very nice and attentive. Dr. Rushita Mehta was exceptionally thorough. I love her!. Even though my rash has almost went away when I see her, she discuss with me what could have been happening and her reasoning seems to fit what I had experience. My allergy test came back that I am allergic to trees and I often have serious allergies in April and May. Rather than suggesting that I take oral histamines, she recommended preventive care and take nasal spray aka steriods a lot early on before my allergy symptoms kicks in. Very friendly and easy to talk to. She also recommended a list of products that I can try to avoid having an allergic reaction. Would definitely recommend Hudson Allergy.
