I was suffering for sever periodontal diseases. I had 2 laser treatments done in the past at other dentists but no significant improvements were seen. I finally found Dr. Farahmand on internet. How she explaining what I need blew my mind. I was looking for these answers for over 10 years! I wondered why other dentists didn't recommend other treatment options. If I could give no stars, I would. I was with Dr. Farahmand for a long time and thought highly of her until now. I went to get a second opinion about having a tooth extracted and an implant put in, which is a huge, long procedure (6-8 months). The second opinion endodontist told me I do NOT need to have my tooth pulled and he can do another procedure called an apicoectomy. Believe me, this is as good as it gets! Many people understandably dread a trip to the dentist, and visiting a periodontist can seem like descending into the vortex of Dante's Inferno. I actually like getting my teeth cleaned, but gum surgeries, extractions, implants, etc. are another matter, especially since I have had some painful prior experiences. Finally, I feel I've found someone I can trust to do a thorough, skillful, compassionate job addressing my periodontal disease. I recently had my first combined extraction and bone graft and can report that the procedure was about as pleasant as tooth pulling and bone grafting could possibly be. Dr. Farahmand and her assistant, Blanca, were both gentle and professional and always concerned about my comfort. The whole thing went so smoothly...I had no post-op bleeding and very little discomfort. I took one Vicodin when I got home as sort of a "preemptive strike." It just made me itchy and lazy; the anticipated pain never materialized. The prescription strength Motrin prescribed handled the post-op healing just fine--a testament to Dr. Farahmand's punctilious skill and artistry. Most of us tend to ignore periodontal disease until it becomes pretty advanced, and that's a bad thing. Dental health affects your overall physical (and I think mental) state of being. I'm writing this to help other people with periodontal disease overcome their fears and address their dental issues in a timely manner to achieve the best outcome. A phenomenal and amazing doctor! I initially went to Dr. Farahmand after numerous failed treatments on a tooth by 3 other doctors (dentists + specialists). Her examination was thorough, insightful, and honest. She has provided exceptional care for my complicated teeth over the years, and referred to me to other specialists when needed (she is very well-regarded by her network of colleagues - endodontists, dentists, etc - who are equally talented and meticulous). Where others could not, Dr. Farahmand was able to effectively investigate and diagnose my issues - I wish I would have seen her first! Some of the things that I believe make her so successful: she's brilliant, meticulous, technically talented, caring and honest. First, Dr Farahmand really cares about her patients. Her staff is very caring also and knowledgeable. She always takes the time to find out what the specific problems are and what needs to be done for treatments without shortcutting. I previously had the Chao Pinhole Technique, as I was afraid of gum grafting periodontal surgery. (This is a misconception because Dr Farahmand did not cause me any pain during her gum grafting procedure which I had recently). Once I had done the Pinhole Technique (twice, and not through Dr Farahmand of course), she had explained to me that you cannot merely stretch the gum. More gum tissue is needed in a two-step process to put the condition back to its strong, normal state around the teeth. She also explained how important bone loss/recovery is also below the tooth, which the Pinhole Technique will not help. I wasted time, money and health on the Pinhole surgery, which I thought would be less painful (not true). Your gums are being stretched and collagen strips are inserted. Some will not even hold correctly. In summary, I should have listened to Dr Farahmand several years ago but I thought I knew best and had to do it my way first (as usual, since I am a Taurus, I'll admit lol). Now, I realize that you get the expertise and the effective treatment that you pay for in this world. Your mouth/teeth must be a priority in your life. I have also recently paid the price of needing one tooth extracted (due to my own neglect the last several years I am sure). I am thankful that Dr Farahmand spotted it before it affected surrounding teeth or further bone/health issues. She took a CT image to make sure, and was also able to help me by doing the tooth extraction, adding bone grafting material, preparing for an implant once it heals. In summary, there is no better periodontist or specialist than Dr Farahmand in the vicinity. I highly recommend her, now that she has been treating me the past several months. I had awful customer service with this office including Dr. Farahmond personally brushed me off as "you don't have to come to this office then, Good Bye" before ever listening to me. I have never received such awful services on assumptions for insurance claims....seems to be more interested in getting paid by insurance claims than providing ethical services to her patients. We never made it past the paperwork and 2 cancelled appointments based on her and her staff's inability to communicate. Unprofessional and unethical. No stars for them. I genuinely wish there were more than 5 stars for this review. If you are fortunate enough to know of this doctor when you need a miracle, you will understand why I wish for "a trillion" star rating as an option. I have been blessed with straight, white, strong teeth my whole life. Nonetheless, I damaged my front tooth slightly and chose to get a veneer on my front tooth. I selected a specialist that is amazing and have loved my veneer for several years now. On a recent visit to that specialist, she found infection in my gum and sent me to emergency periodontal inspection. Instead of going to her recommendation, I found Dr. Farahmand through a friend who had fortuitously recently had success with her surrounding an extremely difficult front tooth situation resulting in hard earned great success. In describing Dr Farahmand, my friend used words like, "the ultimate perfectionist" ... "extremely professional and detail-oriented" ... unfettered by any situation" ... can speak to patients with thoughtfulness, transparency, fiscal responsibility" ... "only interested in saving your natural tooth before going to any other options." Bottom line: Dr. Farahmand took every step to determine the issue before considering root damage - something not able to be detected without cutting into the gum and all roads risking damage to the external appearance of your smile. This assessment was quick and involved only the highest skilled professionals who treated me like I was top of their list of concerns. When we had to look under the gum, she found that a tiny particle of glue from the installation of my gum had eaten through the root of my front tooth. MY FRONT TOOTH. She extracted the decay and stitched me up like a plastic surgeon to ensure the best possible results. She sent me on my way with a very simple and specific plan involving rules like "do not bite or chew on that tooth" for months. I was diligent. She was on top of it with every appointment. And, by the way, accommodated my work schedule affording me early appointments and was never late or uninformed. Her staff, too, was meticulous in knowing my goal and Dr. Farahmand's expectations for a professional, organized, personalized experience every single visit. Today, I have my front tooth healthy and strong. If you go to Dr. Farahmand, you will save yourself the worry and chaos of wasting time with ANYONE ELSE. ANY ONE! On a personal note, she is honest, humble, aware of her hard earned experience and & wonderfully normal while being one of the smartest doctors I have ever met. I scheduled weeks in advance, but when I arrived for my 1PM appointment, there was a "out to lunch" sign that indicated they would not be back until 1:30. I left a message that I would wait in the area until 1:15. By 1:15, I still hadn't received a call back from them. The woman who finally called me back after 1:15 admitted that I did have an appointment at 1PM, but that their morning patients had taken longer than expected. So, they had a late lunch. They did not call to let me know or to cancel. The woman was very apologetic, but I decided that such unprofessional behavior was not something that I was willing to deal with. The office is 30 minutes from my home, so I just don't have time to waste on doctors who schedule appointments for when they aren't even in the office and don't even call to notify me. read more

Everyone who is writing five stars including myself means it. Had YEARS of sensitivity on one of my upper teeth - the kind where you eat weird every time you put chocolate or something cold in your mouth and you have to overly warn your dentist about that area. It's a hassle. So finally addressed the issue and as scary as gum grafting seemed and sounded to me with my low pain tolerance. the procedure was remarkably smooth and not painful. The hardest part honestly was not being able to chomp into a burger during the week of healing lol. Dr. Farahmand is very kind and detailed about the whole procedure and follow up and has a finesse in the whole surgical procedure (it is quite complicated and she executes it perfectly). Before seeing Dr Farahmand I had a referral by my dentist to see a periodontist however I misplaced that referral slip. I ended up doing my own research for the best periodontist because I did not want to settle for less when it comes to my teeth then I found Dr Farahmand. I called and I was already able to tell how kind and knowledgeable she was within our short phone conversation. Once we met she explained to me so much more information that I was not aware of regarding my teeth, gums, and overall oral health that a dentist had never explained to me before. I needed to get a gum graft done and Dr. Farahmand explained everything that was going to happen with the surgery and the after care. My surgery went well and I was actually really nervous but Dr Farahmand and her assistant were amazing through it all and helped calm me down. I appreciated that because not everyone has patience to deal with situations like that. The after care was fine and I had no pain at all and the healing went by very smoothly. I went to Dr. Farahmand with an inflammation and bleeding in my upper right portion of my mouth. Turns out that there was significant bone loss and after two procedures, she saved my tooth. My regular dentist (whose opinion I highly respect) referred me to Dr. Farahmand because of my gum recession and painful sensitivity on multiple teeth. Dr. Farahmand was extremely thorough in presenting options, and recommended several potential courses of action based on varying costs. Together, we were able to make the best choice for me, which was gum graft surgery on two teeth. Prior to the surgery itself, she went over the details of what happen, showed me photographs of her work on other patients, and allowed me time to ask my numerous questions, so that I never felt like she was trying to rush me through the procedure or out of her office. The surgery itself went smoothly, and Dr. Farahmand even gave me her personal cell phone number to call in case of emergency. I couldn't believe how painless the recovery ended up being. I've only gone through a few surgeries in my lifetime, but this was by far the easiest surgery I have ever experienced. Additionally, Dr. Farahmand's responsiveness, communication, and accessibility are beyond reproach. She sends email and text message appointment reminders as well as follow-up letters and photos. And when the pack on the back of my teeth covering the sutures crumbled off on a Friday evening, I called her office the next day (Saturday) and left a voicemail for when she arrived Monday morning, as it was not an emergency. I was pleasantly surprised when she personally called me back just two minutes later. Apparently she checks her work voicemails even when not in the office! She told me I could come in on Monday morning to have a new pack put on. A month after surgery, my gum graft is healthy, my exposed roots are covered, and my sensitivity on those teeth gone. Dr. Farahmand is the most professional and nurturing dental health professional I have ever dealt with. Due to some negligence from my prior dentist, and ignorance on my behalf, by the time I arrived to Dr. Farahmand I had some major issues with my gums. I was frustrated and didn't feel comfortable with the periodontist referred to me by my dentist at the time, who by the way wanted to operate immediately. I decided do some research here on Yelp and called Dr. Farahmand for a consultation. She was very understanding and thorough with how periodontal disease not only affects the health of your gums but your overall health as well. Basically we started from scratch and redid X-rays and a step by step attack plan on improving my gum health. She even called an out of state friend of mine who happens to be a periodontist to consult with him about my situation and get his thoughts. I underwent my first gum surgery with Dr. Farahmand in April, and I have to say it was not as painful as I thought it would be and my recovery was very quick. Since then, I continued to see the Dr. and she is always genuinely concerned on my well-being and I have definitely noticed my gum health to have improved. Dr has been my periodontist for about 15 years. She has taken care of my perio needs and is never in a rush to perform unnecessary procedures. She takes the least invasive routes possible, so if you end up needing surgery, you know it is being done as a last resort. It is comforting when you feel like your needs are the number one priority. She is conscientious, caring, extremely intelligent, knows her field and is in tune with her abilities. Over the past 15 years, she has done two surgeries on two small areas of my gums. I must admit it was tested for a few weeks rececently after I had a gum and bone graft which was not healing according to schedule.The love and support of Dr. Farahmand and the whole staff comforted me and encouraged me. I never write negative reviews for doctors, even if I am not completely satisfied with their service, however, I feel that this is one case where something must be said. My 80 year old mom has been going to Dr. Farahmand for over a year for periodontal disease. From the beginning of her treatment, the doctor has been more of a salesman than anything else. She convinced my mom that she needed many rounds of treatment and the office even billed her dental insurance even before the treatment was done. When my mom missed an appointment, she was billed for the time. Fine--that is their policy. A couple of weeks later, my mom was diagnosed with shingles on the day she was scheduled for another appointment with Dr. Farahmand. She went from the dermatologists office straight to Dr. Farahmand's office (she was afraid to cancel it and be charged!) and was told that they would not see her because of the shingles. Understood. She was extremely sick and on a lot of sedating medication for an entire month with shingles then, and did not call to reschedule another appointment that was scheduled for 2 weeks later. She forgot. She is 80 and was sick. It was an honest and understandable mistake. She received a letter from Dr. Farahmand's office telling her that she was no longer welcomed back as a patient and that they were keeping $75 that they owed her as a fee for not showing up! This, in my opinion, is a terrible way to treat a patient! No referral for her ongoing dental issue--nothing. Is this what she was taught in dental school--to abandon patient who need services?
