However, I don't appreciate the way I was treated here and I was not satisfied with the instruction I received. 1) There was a bad storm one day and my teacher called me to tell me that class was canceled. Later, the owner blamed the missed class on me and said that because "I" didn't show up then I couldn't make the class up or get a refund. Eventually, she told me that I could make it up, which is fine. But I didn't appreciate being told that I was at fault for missing the class when my teacher was the one who canceled it. 2) My teacher was impossible to contact. He didn't have a cell phone and then blamed students for not contacting him. 3) My teacher was a nice guy but I could barely understand him and he could barely understand me. He would get frustrated with me for not understanding his English. I am from the Miami area and should speak Spanish but unfortunately I don't. It doesn't matter though because this place is supposed to be bilingual. 3) My teacher never really taught me how to draw, and as early as the first class he had me doing pastels. I felt like I never really got any real instruction. A lot of it was just trial and error and trying to guess what he wanted me to do. I wasn't ready to move onto pastels because I hadn't learned to draw yet, but drawing instruction stopped after the first class. 4) Payment: payment time was not clear, and when I did not pay on time (due to the canceled class), the owner got nasty with me, but I had no idea when the payment was due in the first place because no one told me. I wasn't evading the payment but she acted as if I was. 5) I switched teachers and classes. When I went to the new class, the new teacher looked at my pastel work and said "You will get better after time", threw a landscape magazine with work that was way too difficult for me, then walked away to attend to someone else leaving me without any instruction for over 20 minutes. I was just sitting there without anything to do waiting for him so I walked out. 6) Before I walked out, I called the owner who told me that I could not get a refund for the classes even though I didn't take any of them. I am in an emergency situation which is why I had to stop attending classes and leave South Florida, but she was not sympathetic to my situation at all and I ended up losing $90. I'd rather spend more money to get quality instruction and better treatment somewhere else.

All of the teachers are professional and extremely knowledgeable in their medium. Every month we participate in the District Art Walk, the 3rd Saturday evening most of the local galleries open their doors to the public. Miami Art Club has recently added wine painting parties to the schedule. They are hosted by real art teachers and include all supplies and wine!! This past March we had a small group paint roosters for the Chinese New Year. I'm planning my daughter's birthday party for later this summer, she is so excited. Six weeks later, I can finally write this review…read more Woohoo! For those not aware, my latest endeavor was signing up for a six-week pottery course with one of my best friends who also happens to be my work husband. What motivated this endeavor? I am a bored and crazy soul. That, and admittedly, this was on my bucket list for years. You see, my mother used to do ceramics and she would never stop talking about how I needed to try it as well. Turns out that while my mother had talent for pottery, I am abysmal at it. The only real competition I have is my dear friend. We cannot seem to decide whose pottery is worse. Semantics aside, the Ceramic League of Miami can be located in the village of Pinecrest. It essentially is an open-spaced garage full of pottery wheels, bookshelves, and clay galore. They have an area for parking, and on the off chance it's packed, there's plenty of businesses around where you can park. Everything in this area is pretty relaxed. Classes can either be daytime or nighttime Monday through Saturday. We signed up for the 2:30 PM Saturday class for the pottery wheel and soda kiln with James. The signing up process was relatively simple. We did everything online. When we began the class, we were given the option of purchasing a tool set. You needed to bring exact change for this. $14 to be specific. If you didn't get this for whatever reason (usually the school running out of them), you could share with the instructor and/or other students. This is what ended up happening to me. This six-week pottery course cost $155 and it included two and a half hours of instruction every Saturday, as well as what I refer to as that horribly heavy 20+ lb of clay bag. The class is over and I have leftover clay. What the heck am I supposed to do with it? I have clay in places I never thought I would. Cough; I am referencing my box of art supplies in my car. Yes, I can effectively now say I've become an artist. If you become a member of this non-profit organization, the class will cost you $145 instead. Overall, I thought the prices fair for what we did. We received a lot of personal instruction and got to get our hands down and dirty. Unfortunately the movie Ghost sets up unrealistic expectations when it comes to clay. Noting that, if you go in with an open mind, this is a blast; a frustrating blast but a blast nevertheless. I found James to be an efficient and kind instructor. I just wish there had been more organization on his part. We never really got to mark our pieces properly, but oh well. I would probably do this again in the future. For now though, this girl is off to her next venture: aerial yoga!

I had never taken a pottery class and was so excited to learn the ropes. There are 10 wheels here, so our group of 10 was able to arrive a little early, drink wine and eat some snacks we brought before learning the ropes of ceramics. Victor was our instructor and he was amazing! He first did a demonstration on how to work with the clay and start to make your piece. Then he helped us to create our own pieces. We got to make 3 different things. One item is included in your class price and you can purchase the other 2 for just $8 each. It's a hands on experience but so awesome to learn a new skill and get to be able to take your creation home. I will definitely look into more classes as I truly enjoyed my experience with the class.

I signed up a month ago for the Wednesday evening Five Week Pottery Class at their Casa Ferber…read morelocation; $300 and already bought my apron and tools. The day before my first class, I got a call saying it was canceled due to low enrollment. That's on them, not me. What made it worse? When they called to inform me of the cancellation, they told me the 4% credit card fee was non-refundable and that it was their policy. Except it's not. Their own written refund policy clearly states that if they cancel a class due to low enrollment, they will issue a full refund. They straight up lied to my face. It took my husband calling back and calling them out on it before they finally honored what was written in their own policy. $300 is not cheap, and a business that misrepresents its own refund policy to shortchange customers is not one I can trust or recommend. Really bummed, because I was looking forward to the class and genuinely wanted this to work out.
