Decent event overall. It costs $10 per person just to browse the art booths which is a little atypical I find, but I assume its to keep the hoards of people out and limit it somewhat? It certainly is a very different feel than say, the Pecan Street Festival, and seems to have more higher priced art and is not dog friendly. There definitely are some talented artists making some really interesting works in unusual mediums, so it was fun to see everything from incredibly detailed embroidered artwork to hammered metal sculpture/paintings, to beautiful photography, jewelry, paintings, etc...
The music was all the way at the end of the festival and was nearly completely dead. Awkwardly empty to the point where you almost feel bad getting up and leaving, despite the music being great (Elias Haslanger) because it dimished the crowd size by 20%. It would definitely have helped to have covered seating for the music considering the blazing hot sun and zero shade. There were a few good food trucks including garbos, chilantro, coolhaus, and some others so that is a plus.
Not crowded at all, so it is not difficult to move around comfortably at your own pace. Worth seeing once, and then I'd say I'm iffy on a return. read more
