What's not to like? The entire Art Bookbindery team, headed by Michael, are skilled at what they do and are wonderful to work with. An aspiring author can't ask for a better self-publishing partner. Help during the designing phase was always an email away and replies were prompt. I had a printing deadline to meet, and it was promised and delivered. The design of the cover was perfect and as the first selling point of the book, it's getting rave reviews. Sometimes you have to judge a book by its cover and this cover is a hit with all who have seen it. I never tire of hearing the word "WOW" each time someone looks at the book for the first time. The quality of the paper used is excellent, the cover material and laminate are superb. The printing inside is flawless. The book is selling well just through word of mouth. Can't wait to get it on Amazon for which I suspect I will need a second print run, as the current batch is moving steadily and keeping me and Canada Post busy. What I would like to see in the way of a value added feature for the author is for the packed boxes of books to indicate the quantity inside. Other than that, everything is great. The added special touches like posters and the first copy marked as such and individually wrapped just showed how much the people at Art Bookbindery love what they do and truly care about their customers. I have known Michael Schaact and Art Bookbindery for over 20 years and to me he is the most honest, trustworthy and decent person you could ever work with. Or call friend. Always willing to make things better (at no extra charge), and taking pride in serving his customers and knowing all by name. A more kinder, honest and caring man of the highest integrity, you will be hard to find in Winnipeg, Canada or anywhere. I will not believe he has done anything that would cause problems for his clients. Regardless of COVID or WW3, I TRUST Michael Schaact and know there must be something else to Art Book Bindery Disappearing so abruptly. I am not a writer but decided to publish a family history book. It was alot of work and Michael was very helpful over a long period of time when I asked him questions and this was before I had made any kind of commitment to art bookbindery. Once I had progressed thru to the actual publishing and doug took over this part of the process. He was very patient with me as I have no experience in any of the process. I think the biggest compliment this business can receive is when people see the actual book they are floored at the quality and workmanship of the hardcover color book. This business Art Bookbindery has gone bust, and its owner Mike Schacht took my money and books from me and not a penny in refund! Not a phone call or email from them to say anything was wrong! They just disappeared! Now they have the gaul to want to charge me (and their former customers) for my property back! And $45 US Dollars (not Canadian) on top of it??? Are they crazy! There needs to be a government investigation on how a company and its owners with thousands of customers can just disappear into thin air without their books or money! This is my second job done by Art Bookbindery. I went with them after they did such a great job on my family history book. Their entire staff is very helpful during all stages of the publishing and printing process. My order this time was not large, 25 books, 100 pages of text and figures, a few charts. Art Bookbindery was fast, the price was very fair and competitive with others I contacted, and you get the feeling that they actually care about the customer. What a business model, yes??!! I give a 4 star rating to Michael and his crew for past excellent service. Wish I knew more about the present situation. I would really like to hear from Michael or Doug to clear up some of the mystery surrounding Artbookbindery. I have used Art Bookbindery for both of my children's books and will have them print my third one as well. I tried CreateSpace and was unhappy with their color and paper quality. Art Bookbindery was able to upgrade my paper stock and the result was a beautiful full color children's book that is a stand out. I was given a contact person who made the entire process seamless. I am disappointed to see that this firm has gone out of business without as much as a note to customers. I used them two years ago to publish a family history. I was very pleased with the final project. I purchased 25 hardback copies--which was the minimum-- and was assured that I could buy more without having to meet the minimum ago.
