Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting

Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting

(1 review)

We took my wife's car here only because her car dealership had an arrangement with MAACO even…read morethough it was against my better judgment from the very beginning. The car need warranty work done to correct the manufacturers paint flaking and dull finish area problems. We took the car to them on a Monday and promptly discovered the so-called desk clerk asleep on a couch in the waiting room. After waking him and wondering if he was awake yet, we went over the areas of the car to be painted and a couple of other very minor areas to be addressed such as the door handle and a ding on the passage side. He never once took any notes or photographs. They called us back 3 days later and said the car was ready. Absolutely not! They didn't prep any of the areas to be painted and simply painting over the areas in question. Dull paint, scratches and rock marks were still visible and they just painted over the flaking/fading problem areas. The manager #1 told us to leave the car and it would be corrected in two more days. After 3 days more, I called their corporate office and was told by them (after waiting another day for them to call me back) that the car would be finished the next day. Called the local dealer the next day and they told me that it wasn't finished yet and to call back tomorrow. When they didn't call me back that day, I went there to see the car that afternoon.. They had just begun to prep the car before painting at that time. A different (#2) so-called manager told me that it would be ready the next day. Two days later I called and they said it would be ready the following day. After a total of 11 days in their shop, they said the car was ready. Went to pick up her car and it was parked out front in the bright sunlight. They told me that the car needed an additional $600 in additional body work which I requested. But when questioned, they couldn't verify any of this because no one there took any notes or any photographs when the car was brought in to them. Looking over the car, it was indeed painted and the scratches, dull areas and rock marks looked OK.....BUT: They had painted over the soft rubber trim all around the windows (they seemed not to mask off anything). They painted over the black front spoiler, the black grill, the black fog-light surround grills, inside the grill area onto the radiator and inside the hood, plus there was paint on both headlights. They had even cut the "brand-new" headlight lenses with a knife leaving permanent marks on both. They even painted over all the 'door and trunk' locks. There were also paint edge marks where they improperly masked off the rear spoiler and trunk. The paint had minor runs and there were areas all around the bottom of the car where the paint was completely dull. The manager (now #3) told me that it would be OK as the paint would "shine up the more we washed it." What kind of fools do MAACO take their customers for. Outright lies! . At that point, I had enough lies, poor customer service and unprofessional conduct and told him that I would now take the car. I let them know that their corporate headquarter had just been notified of their incompetence while I was waiting.. I left with the car after my wife and I were surrounded by their 2 painters and the manager showing their disdain for my faulting of their work. They deserved it! I subsequently traded the car in at a loss of about $2000 because that is what it would cost them to repair the damage done by Maaco. Their warranty is not worth the paper on which it is printed. Uh Oh!...better NOT call MAACO. Do NOT ever take your car here. This place is the absolute worst in the history of automobile painting. Simply pathetic workmanship and customer service.. Very unprofessional! You would be better off to give your pubescent teenage son and his friends some extra fine sandpaper, a few cans of spray paint and polish and let them have a go at it. Sincerely
