Paul Mathew, DDS - Artisan Dentistry

I've had the absolute pleasure of completing a total dental restoration project in the care of the…read morewonderful Dr. Paul Mathew and his incredible team at Artisan Dentistry. I don't even know where to begin, but let me tell you--I hadn't pursued dental care since my late teens (I'm now in my mid-50s) due to a crippling dental fear that made me endure pain rather than visit a provider. At my wit's end, I searched for a dental office that could accommodate my phobia. I happened upon Artisan Dentistry and booked my consultation. I was visibly shaking and dizzy (literally!) with fear as I made my way to his practice and chair. (The office is beautifully and calmly decorated, and his staff is wonderfully trained to deal with us "chickens.") Dr. Mathew immediately greeted me warmly and asked me to talk about myself and my history. He has wonderful bedside manner and is quite gregarious--he genuinely enjoys a good chat. We just talked for about half an hour to an hour, and together we decided to take some careful steps forward. I asked about full sedation, and he was completely open to it and any options I wanted to pursue. I could call the shots at any time and switch sedation plans. He gently suggested that I start with a few teeth cleaning sessions using topical anesthetics and Novocain as needed, guaranteeing that I wouldn't feel anything. I went in for my cleanings, and it was exactly as he described--I didn't feel a thing! Here was the turning point: I asked him point-blank, "So I had some Novocain during my cleanings--is that what you would use if we didn't do sedation dentistry?" "Yes," he said, "the same type of pain management for each part of your mouth that I work on." I said, "You know what? Let's try it." That decision changed everything! For all the massive work that was done, I wasn't sedated in any way! Let me tell you, I've had major work done, and his priority was always pain management. Dr. Mathew literally changed my life by showing me "here is what a medical professional can be." Since being under his care, I no longer fear having minor medical procedures done in other doctors' offices. It turns out my epic teeth issues were only symptoms of the real problem: my fear of dentists (and medical professionals), the perceived loss of control, and procedures that were unknown to me. Yes, Dr. Mathew is at the top of his technical dental game--this is obvious (he loves to talk about the many seminars and practicals he still attends and the new things he's learned)--but for me? His ability to help people like me overcome life-long fear-based obstacles. He removed (extracted, lol?) my fundamental fear. I can't say it any clearer than that. He has done nothing short of changing my life. Oh, and as for my new dental work? The best compliment I get is how nice my teeth look and that I must be hawkish about brushing. They look completely natural, which has changed my face and definitely my smile. And as for being hawkish about brushing? Ha--well, I am now! Thank you, Dr. Mathew and Jaime. You have a friend for life. With all my love and gratitude--CK

I will never forgive myself nor will my family ever forgive me from putting all my trust, faith,…read moretime and money into Charles Burliss and David P. Gordon's half-baked idea. These two con men squandered and stole every cent I could have saved. The implants seen in the photo at 11 and 1 o'clock were put in for no reason. It has been 9 years now and they have never been attached to the denture and used. Burliss took medical advise from Gordon (who was never licensed to do this work) to drill 2 more holes in my head to hold the denture in place. Burliss recommended Gordon knowing he had no experience at reconstructive dentistry but yet took his advice and did it. It gets much worse! Had Gordon not been off by a staggering 9mm the dentures would have held in just fine. In fact, this picture was taken Dec 2017 and since then I have had only 3 implants holding the denture in. The implant at 2 o'clock had to be removed, it didn't even last 8 years what a shame! If you want a great audio of what it will be like once these 2 scam artists get done with you and lifting the money from your wallet listen to The Doors Absolutely Live song called Backdoor Man. Listen to the first 10 sec of the song...that is exactly what you will be doing! I have showed these pictures to both Burliss and Gordon. Burliss laughs and say to call his lawyer, he could care less as long as he got paid upfront first. Gutless coward, the same as Gordon. Gordon doesn't have the sack to answer his own phone. He hangs up on you. Neither had the balls to man up at the start of this nightmare and be done with it.

Consider the fact that they are a private business and apparently that means they can deny you…read moremedical service at anytime if you owe them any money. I have a physical condition that I needed medication right away for and these sobs told me they WOULD NOT help me until I make a substantial payment. So CONSIDER this before you make them your pcp. That one day you might really really need medical help and they reserve the right to tell you we will NOT help you...I regret ever being a patient after how I was just treated if I knew they could treat anybody that way I wouldn't have given them a cent...I would never have chosen them as my pcp. I RECOMMEND going ELSEWHERE if you need medical help.

I informed the receptionist that i would probably be needing a transfer of records because i needed an appointment before then. He was nice, i was nice, the conversation was nice. We ended it at that. This morning, I got a phone call with no prompting from Lisa, asking why I was upset over not seeing my PCP. I told her I was infact NOT upset. I just want to transfer records. She told me I needed to understand Windhams guidelines, and i need to know that my PCP has many other jobs, including the sleep clinic and acute care on weekends. She was not calling to know why I needed an appointment or how serious it was. She just had to say that if I expected to be seen when I wanted, maybe I should go to another practice. She also downgraded my severity of my situation, saying... well, if you did what we said back in April, maybe it wouldn't be this way. And... It mustn't be as bad as I'm making it out to be. We were both trying to speak, and she told me to close my mouth and let her finish a sentence. That's when I asked to speak with her manager, Janet. Lisa refused to transfer me, telling me I could call back and go through the call center. So I did! There was absolutely NO reason for her call, and there was absolutely nothing good that came out of it. I have spoken to her boss, Janet, who promptly got me in first thing next week. She also informed me that Lisa could infact have transferred me to her direct line. I am also waiting for a call back from the Director of Operations.
