Arroyo Door was recommended by a friend, who had a garage door installed. I called to get a rough estimate and Jim was lower than the big names/brands around San Luis Obispo. Great value for what we ended up getting. When I was ready, I called him again, he is the owner, and he came out to take dimensions, etc.. Answered all our questions and loved the fact we would get a battery backup to open the door. This is great as we have lost power and it's hard to open the door. I received a quote via email and called to order. He said it would take about 4 weeks but it was less. He called and said the door was in, so made an appointment. Jim called and we made an appointment for installation. He called me to let me know he was 10 minutes out. I was so surprised he was here a little over 2 hours with his brother. He installed a keypad on the outside of the garage. He also setup my husband's car, mine would not work, to open the garage door. I even tried later, so will talk to the car dealer. read more

Arrived within a few hours of service request. Promptly replaced the broken spring and diagnosed/fixed the motor/limiter issue all within an hour and a half. He charged $380. A competing well known company gave us a bid earlier in the day for $1100 just to fix the spring and check the rollers, not addressing the motor issue at all - said he'd make it so we could 'manually lift the door'. To 'rebuild' the existing motor and fix the spring/assess the rollers was... wait for it... $3,450! For an all new motor and spring they wanted $4,300! I used him about 20 years ago when one of the door spring broke and he did a thorough repair then so I called him again for my latest problem. This time one of the garage door cables frayed and slipped off its drum causing the top door panel to come off its track and the rest of the door was tweaked. He installed new cables, two new roller hinges, adjusted the spring tension, checked the door opener safety reverse and lubed every moving part.
