I have just got A Panasonic Ducted System installed by Arrow Air Conditioner. I have quite a bad experience with this installation. However some of the staff are good and friendly.
1. The installation day on 13-5-24 was not too bad until the end of the day. When I asked Triston, the last crew member remaining to help to set up the control and the WIFI, about the serial number of the units. He had to climbed up to the attic to check on the inside unit. He discovered that the plumbing work was no good with a puddle of water. He asked the office to arrange the next day to fixed up the plumbing issue. It is a credit to Triston. Otherwise the ceiling will be collapsed in the summer when I turn on the cooling system.
2. On 14-5-24 when the team coming back to fix the plumbing problem, I climbed up to the attic to check what was going wrong and then I could monitor the issue. When I was in the attic, I discovered that the team used the new duct to collect to the final meter of the existing old worn-out duct that collected to the existing outlets. The broken old duct has no insulation power at all. I asked the crew and he said that it should be done like that as the new duct couldn't fit to the existing outlets. He also said that the new drainage plumbing work was an extra to the job. The unit should be collected to the existing plumbing work. The under meaning is we are doing you a favour. However the contract Is:
* Supply and install all gas and plumbing components associated with the new air conditioning system
3. I contacted the office and complained about their crew using old duct in the final collection to the existing outlets. The office lady was friendly and caring and listening to my concern. She got Tory, the one who made the estimation (contract) to contact me. Tory admitted that they should use the new duct all the way to the existing outlets and he organised the team to come back on 20/5/24 to replace the old duct.
4. On 20-5-24 when I did the finally check up on the works before I give the final payment. I discovered that one of the fitting doesn't look new. I questioned the crew member and he said that they took it from their office to installed. He contacted Tory and asked Tory to explain to me. Tory explained to me that the fitting was an old stock from their office. I asked how long had the fitting sitting in their office. He couldn't answer. He just kept saying that the fitting should be ok if it is not being disturbed or stepped on. I just wonder why they are not getting new components for each new job. The estimation was * New return air grill, box and duct to be compatible with new installation.
5. From the above experience you need to thick about the following points before you asked Arrow Air Conditioner to have the new ducted system.
a. Are you fit enough to climb up to the attic to check on their job? I think some of the crew members will cut corners and think that you won't climb up to the attic to inspect.
b. Be very careful with the estimation and needs to be crystal cleared about what is included in your estimation.
c. Be prepare to confront with the crew member about your rights.
