We asked for a quiet end of corridor room and were given one however it overlooked the side of a square and thus we thought it could be noisy....how wrong we were. The glazing is superb and despite having two doors out to balcony we heard nothing. The room was compact but very well designed having enough furniture to be useful but none to get in the way. The small bathroom had a deep tub with excellent shower over it. A small fridge kept my quickly delivered small jug of fresh milk cool. We travel with our own tea bags so did not use the in room espresso machine on this occasion. The bed with an excellent king mattress, pillows and linen were top notch. It is rare to find such a good selection of pillows in a hotel these days. Most importantly the room preparation crew did an excellent job and the whole hotel was spotless. Being give some custard tarts, a small bottle of port upon arrival and a bottle of red vino for our last night were lovely touches. ALL the staff we came across were friendly and helpful and the waiters in the restaurant were delightful and chatty in the best way. We ate in the bar one night and found the selection of foods to be very interesting and tasty. Breakfast buffet was exceptionally managed and never looked unkept or swamped and provided a plethora of foods including some excellent yoghurt in little glass jars as well as a impressive selection of hot and cold food. Would we return....you bet as the hotel is central to most of the sights in Lisbon and right opposite the train station for trains to Sintra. We left for the short taxi ride to the airport and hour too early as Lisbon airport which was exceptionally busy, seemed able to cope with hordes of passengers until you get to your boarding gate where seats are at a minimum.

There was a group before us who was dealing with service issues too. They initially charged us to move rooms. The clogged up shower, broken toilet seat, lack of cleanliness etc. They did credit that back after having going back and forth about it, but it seemed ridiculous with all the issues we were having. Breakfast was not good and I was hounded by being hovered over for them not having me on a list which was their error. The fact that you'd have to stand over me after I explain we changed rooms was so embarrassing. There are many other hotels we saw in the area. We will never stay here again. Too many options for this type of service.

We tried a bit of everything: croquetas, cheese plate, potato skins, and bruschetta. I wasn't a huge fan of the bruschetta only because it didn't have any sauce. It was just tomatoes and meat on a little toast. Everything else was great though! Come here for a snack and a drink at sunset!

Well we decided on our last night to give it a shot and so glad we did. The food was phenomenal. I appreciate they put effort into their vegetarian options by using plant based meats to add interest. The spring rolls were amazing. One fault was the service was super nice although at various times seemed to completely disappear. There are many restaurant options to chose from in this area but I highly recommend Elevador.

We did have a car and the hotel recommended a good underground lot about a 10 minute walk away that was not too expensive. Our room was smaller but it was very efficient and well appointed. The room came with complimentary teas and Nespresso pods plus a large 2 liter bottle of "still water" and a gorgeous bathroom. The pillows, bedding and towels were fantastic. The water pressure was wonderful also. We were there in August and the air conditioning worked well also. The room also had a ceiling fan. The restaurant and bar was really good also. Casa Balthazar is an ideal bed and breakfast style hotel, perfectly situated for a traveler like me…read morevisiting Lisbon for the first time. As a guest, you are - quite literally - handed the keys to the kingdom. You receive a set to let you in and out of the living space previously owned by a single family. It took me a minute to get my bearings - why does every door lead to the Jacuzzi? - but Xavier and the rest of the delightful staff are quick to smile and assist when needed. My room was quite big with a sizeable shower, tons of closet space and, my God, is that a bidet? Huge bed, which was also super comfortable. Breakfast was a real treat - they will take your coffee order first and then leave you to choose from the sumptuous buffet (they even had a fresh honeycomb out - wow!). My only issues were with the teeny tiny garbage can in the bathroom and an inability to get the A/C to work properly. Also, I strongly recommend requesting a top floor when staying here. Because it is a house, the walls are fairly thin and the upstairs guests made getting a good night's sleep difficult. But the team on-site cleaned my room each day and just up the street is the delightful Solidó - a great place to dine and listen to the exquisite Fado musicians. I wish I could have stayed longer because Casa Balthazar is a space designed for maximum enjoyment. Obrigado!

Exactly what you expect from a luxury property that understands moments matter. The rooms are beautifully designed: plush bedding, minimalist elegance, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sweeping Lisbon views that make you want to slow down and actually enjoy being in the space. The bathroom? Immaculate and refined, stocked with Acqua di Parma toiletries--always a win and very on-brand for the elevated aesthetic here.
