Then another doctor told me it was an infection and put me on antibiotics. That didn't work. Then I was referred to Dr. Tufft. He literally was the ONLY person that could help me. After 7 months of dead ends, he took one look at me and said "I think you are allergic to your dissolvable stitches," and guess what? He was right. That was the very FIRST appointment with him. He put me on a pain free regiment of lotions and potions and in just over 2 months, I was completely healed. Today was my final appointment with him. I almost started crying when he said "No charge for today's appointment. You are totally healed." I gave him a hug and promised that I would spread the word about him. If you are in the same situation (or close to it), give him a call. He and his sister Pam are literal life savers. Thank you, Dr. Tufft.

The man who saved my life in my hands. I hesitated for several weeks before calling as I was afraid of yet again being looked at like I was a nut case. After nearly 20 physicians in various fields left me to die, this genius figured out exactly what I had. It was so rare & out there my HMO didn't believe him. UCSF & Stanford docs weren't there for me either. But we proved all of them wrong with a biopsy and such. He went up to bat against them more than once for me & many attacked him in the process. Dr. Tufft has created enough good Karma to last several hundred lives. If there was to be ever a hero in my life Dr. Tufft & a colleague he referred me to fit the bill.

The administrative process was very clear, the mention of tests to take to evaluate my situation seemed robust, and I really thought I would receive the help I need. When she transferred to her own clinic, I was asked to schedule an initial consult again to receive my test results. What was unclear was that this was an in-person meeting, unlike the initial consult at CCFM. The only place this was specified was in the calendar invitation, and it was not verified until 2 days before the appointment. Upon hearing there was no flexibility to meet virtually, I was then told that I had to pay a cancelation fee, even though I messaged 2 days before the appointment time. When I mentioned that I was unable to wait another month or so to receive my results due to current health concerns, I was told I should schedule in the system, and when I do, I would be subject to a $50 cancelation fee. This floored me. The process was clearly not ironed out, I acknowledged my confusion, but there was absolutely no flexibility or concern for my care. I've been told that functional medicine is expensive, experimental in some ways, but it wasn't until this moment that I realized this is not patient-oriented care, it's revenue-oriented care. I've worked in client services all my life, and I would never turn away a patient or client who needed care, and I'd always do what I could to meet their needs. Amy's office agreed to release my records, but it's been an awkward back and forth because even that documentation is confusing, and I've met with some hostile messages. After thousands of dollars in tests, I'm walking away with more questions and concerns than ever.

During my consultation, he was extremely thorough and addressed all of my concerns in a very genuine and professional manner. He wasn't just in and out in 2 seconds, we actually spoke at length about my problem, he brought up various options on how to deal with it, and was meticulous about explaining all the pros and cons in regards to all the possible treatments. I was very happy with my experience at his office. The staff was friendly and efficient and parking is available in the same building, which is a plus because I hate driving around looking for street parking. The office also validates parking so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. I was parked from 2:20pm to 4pm for about $4. Minus one star because of the wait. I'm a new patient and my appointment was at 2:45pm. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out necessary paperwork, but wasn't seen until sometime after 3:30pm. The staff and the doctor were very apologetic and explained that they had some emergency cases that backed them up. Sh** happens, I guess. There's really nothing I could do about that in such a situation. I'm just against waiting more than 30 minutes for any appointment I've arrived on time for. I'd say he was worth the wait, though.

I went to see Dr. O'Regan yesterday for a new patient exam. I indicated to the scheduling staff…read morethat I was experiencing severe neck and shoulder pain and needed to see the doctor. It has always been my understanding through the Anthem Blue Cross HMO system that if a patients wants a referral to a specialist, they can do so, but first must meet with their PCP. So while at first Dr. O'Regan seemed friendly, towards the end of my very short 15-minute appointment, she managed to leave a very bad first impression. So much so that I sat on the exam table in utter disbelief that a doctor of her "maturity" could be so apathetic towards a patient. Before deciding to switch to another PCP, I asked myself these questions. What sort of doctor would refuse your request to see a specialist when you've stated you've had chronic joint pain? Instead, Dr. O'Regan said she's determine my pain was solely muscular and that I didn't need a referral. I have never had a PCP refuse my request for a referral. What sort of doctor would refuse to write a letter to your employer to request certain work area accommodations be made to reduce your muscular pain (chronic or not)? Again, this wasn't a difficult request and it certainly wouldn't have taken Dr. O'Regan more than a couple of minutes to write. What sort of doctor would refuse to answer questions of a concerned patient who asks for her doctor's professional advice? Instead, Dr. O'Regan said she didn't have time because she had a busy schedule and that answering my question would require me to make another appointment for an office visit! I even explained to her that I worked in SF and try to minimize the time away from work. The time it took for her to explain why she couldn't answer my questions was enough time to answer most of my concerns to begin with! I have NEVER had a doctor tell me she didn't have time for me. How can she be a doctor with this attitude? I also shared my negative experience with my work colleagues, friends, and husband and the consensus was that if Dr. O'Regan could be so cold by showing more concern about the number of patients she had to see in the day (that's managed healthcare for you!) rather than show empathy and concern for her patient sitting in front of her, she would be unlikely to show empathy or concern for me in the future. No problem here, Dr. O'Regan. I will gladly give up my spot on your exam table for the next unlucky patient who doesn't value her time as much as I do. Bye-bye

And the rest of the doctors at Walnut Creek Medical Group are just as knowledgable and friendly as well. The only bummer about Dr. O'regan is that she's tough to get into sometimes if you need a same-day or next-day appointment, but I still give her 5 stars because she's surrounded herself with great colleagues...and I've seen all five of them by now! Unfortunately, the problem recurred after about one year, and he had to redo the surgery. (It's not uncommon for this kind of problem to recur, and I certainly am not blaming Dr. Tsoi.) In both situations, he was absolutely terrific to work with. He took his time with me, and never made me feel that he was rushing me along. Each time I saw him, both pre-surgery and post-surgery, he asked me a number of times if I had any questions. He (and his assistant Sandy) did everything they could to minimize the unpleasantness of the surgery experience.
