Ordered an iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich. As I was about to pay (using my card), the guy asked me if I wanted to leave a tip so I said yes and left one dollar. I pulled up to the next window to receive my items and I asked for a ketchup and he says "next time if you could let me know if you need ketchup when you are ordering because of inventory" I'm sorry what? I have been going to the Beech St. Aroma Joe's for over four years, and it is one of the busiest "chain" coffee shops in the city. On this particular day, the drive-thru line was out to the road, so my boyfriend & I decided it would be best to run inside. Service was fast, but as we were ordering I noticed the food display they have to the left of the counter. While none of this food is actively "for sale" it serves as a representation of the menu. Inside this display, there were IMMENSE amounts of mold (both grey and green) and swarms of fruit flies. We had already ordered, but it made me sick to my stomach had I seen this before I likely would have passed on ordering my coffee, or food. (I worked in the service industry for years and have seen a lot of nasty food, but this may take the cake). It is now the next day and I'm still thinking about the clouds of mold growing off of those sad looking hash browns. Will I never go to AJs again? Not a chance. Will I take the extra few minutes to go to the Hanover Street location going forward & opt out of the food menu? Likely. read more

The regional manager of this place needs to refresh their staff in their customer service. Our business are new to the area and I went in there for two consecutive days to get a box of Joe (a box of coffee) and I was only handed the box with the coffee. During those two days the sales person didn't seem to understand my need for cups after selling me a box of coffee. When I asked for cups to pour the coffee that was sold to me, I was treated like I've been given her attitude when all I was asking the sales rep for was cups to distribute the coffee to my workers. During those two days, I know the rest of the staff there was listening and didn't even try to correct her, when all I was asking for was cups to put the coffee into. How the heck is a box of coffee being sold to me and not want to give me cups for the amount of coffee I bought. I specifically told her that I'm taking the coffee to a place where we didn't have cups and she got uncomfortable and told me that she couldn't just sell me cups. I told her that everywhere they sell boxes of coffee they automatically give you cups, toppers, creamer and sugar. The first day she made me pay for milk, I didn't fuss about it because I didn't want to irritate the female that was helping me. But she still kind of gave me a feeling that I irritated her by just asking for cups. Unbelievable right? honestly, during those two days of just getting my staff coffee I was very irritated by the staff's reaction of me just asking for cups. But since she's a food server and I'm sure they go through some stuff dealing with difficult people, I didn't want to be another one. Every single time I asked, I was polite and soft spoken. So, her attitude towards me infuriated me a little and that's when I told her that other businesses normally don't react dismissive when the client only asks for basic utensils to consume the product they just bought. anyway, as much as I enjoyed this brand's coffee, I rather drive further to get my coffee. Gave it a few try's just for the benefit of doubt. I tried the caramel sauced iced macchiato and out of the 4 separate times I didn't enjoy any. On the flip side I commend the staff for their work and smiles, and also the owner for reaching out and trying to make things right. Five stars all day long. Great coffee, fast friendly service. Scones are great. The only thing I didn't love was the donuts. They are okay but nothing to rave about. My husband said his sandwich was okay. Nothing special but fine. After all it's really about the coffee and that is superb. Next time we are visiting NH we will stop by! read more

We love Aroma Joe's. The espresso bombs are to die for! Hot or iced, either way they are good! The drip coffee has the strength and flavor of Starbucks with none of the harshness. Way better than that boiling hot brown water that is Dunkins. You'll pay a bit more than Dunkins but not as much as Starbucks. The only downside is that service can be slow in the drive-thru. The staff are very nice and friendly, but seem to get overwhelmed a bit easy. But even so, it's our favorite coffee place! read more

This is the most inconsistent place I have ever had coffee. Even if I order the same drink twice in a row, it is never made the same and always tastes different. Clearly there is an issue with staff not being trained or supported. This weekend I went in to order and the music was so loud and obnoxious. It was hard to hear and the clerk asked me twice for my order. The clerk seemed new as she took a few minutes to find the right buttons and asked us to be patient (which was not a problem, we've all been there). I watched her make my drinks and she did so without measuring anything and by looking up at the menu to see what was in the drink. My drink (an iced latte) was served room temperature with most of the ice already melted before my first sip. Of the 3 staff working, no one talked to each other and it was very clear no one was going to help anyone else. As much as I would love to support a smaller chain and local company, the constant disappointment of that first sip is no longer something I can subject myself to. read more

I went back to this aromas.... disappointed.... again. the coffee is un-drinkable. UGH. Iced coffee with two pieces of ice, watery & burnt tasting. Sent it back for cream once, just took it the second time. I won't get coffee here again. Maybe a rush but I can't stand how aromas is turning into bad coffee. The first or one in East Rochester has AMAZING coffee, I grew up a mile down the road. I just do not understand how most of the aroma joes now have bad coffee. Still loving AJ's! My whole group of friends loves them as well, and if we are having a "movie night" with all of us on that side of town (2 of my friends have places in the south end) it is tradition to take everyones AJ order and pick it up on the way. Finally got to try some more of their treats, since I usually go in I assumed if the front case was empty they were out of food but I guess they have a rack near the drive thru window with more items, just ask the barista to see what is left. Heard good things, but the latte I got there was not good. The latte was poorly made and the flavoring was gross. They have a ton of options for flavored lattes I feel they were too focused on having a bunch of options rather than having them taste great. Maybe their drip coffee would be better.
