As a Colombian who has been craving authentic Colombian cuisine since my last visit to New York in…read moreDecember, I can confidently say this restaurant truly satisfied those cravings. Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.

We were trying to figure out where to eat lunch and this place popped up. We got a Cuban sandwich to split and a tamal. There's not really seating inside but there are tables outside. The woman at the front counter is very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious my friend isn't much of a tamal person so I enjoyed that on my own I loved the lime garlic sauce that came with it so much I was putting it on my half of the delicious sandwich. The sandwich was crispy on the outside everything you expect from a Cuban sandwich and came with a lovely cilantro aioli. The women asked if it was our first time and then gifted us dessert a delicious flakey guava pastry. They have a larger catering menu as well we saw someone picking up a tray to go. Definitely will be back when I'm on a Mochi run when I'm San Diego.

I was at Andale Restaurant several years ago and thought my friends and I would have some lunch…read more I've never been and neither have they. We sat in the patio area for couple minutes and then a couple more minutes hoping to see a server stop by and offer us drinks first prior to ordering. Still no server action, so we left. From what I recall, there were 2 other people at the bar when we arrived. On same note, my adult daughter and her girlfriends went out on a Friday or Saturday night sometime last summer and then went back again the following weekend and loved everything about their night out at Andale. Music was lit with 80s jam, drinks were on point and they had good old fashion fun. I believe they went a few times more and somehow after that, their outings had died out. So, back to my story again .... This past Wednesday my friends and I felt the need to decompress and shake off all the jeebie -weebies after attending a viewing that evening (my friend's father's viewing). Andale came to mind...it was open and it was just down the street from Glen Abbey. What a few drinks was for starters, the group ended racking up a $230 tab. There was party of 8-10 persons sitting at the reserved long table next to bar area. There were a couple more people sitting at the bar, while a few others were on stage karaoking and/or dancing. We liked it so much, we came back to Andale for part 2 ! Our experience at Andale was a good one. I hope, if you do try them out, that you will have nothing but positive reviews to share. We plan to return for karaoke night !

Came here from a FB event that popped up on my feed and thought to myself... we gotta go! Made the trek here, the location of off Bonita rd with plenty of parking. It is a restaurant bar but gives more of bar vibes. The bar is VERY large but didn't partake in any alcoholic drinks. We came for TACOS! I was surprised to see that we were the only other customers there, only one other table had people so our food came out very quick. A plus for us... but if you want taco Tuesday with a not so busy place this is it! The tacos available were carne asada, pollo, fish, tripitas and a few others that I can't remember but they don't skip out on the options. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars and this is more of a personal preference is that the tortillas were kinda hard along the edges and didn't seem fresh to me. They had a good flavor nonetheless and the meat in the tacos was on point! Our server was very nice and attentive, made our visit an easy one. We might make it our Tuesday spot moving forward just need more fresh tortillas :)

I drove into the center just to see what was there, and that's when I found Casera. The pictures in the window caught my eye, so I figured I'd stop in and try a few empanadas. The woman behind the counter told me they had three kinds that day: spinach and cheese, chicken, and beef. I ordered two of each and literally cleaned her out. From the moment I walked in, the place had such an authentic, family-run feel -- you can just tell when food is made with care. She asked if I wanted hot sauce, and I told her I love hot sauce. She handed me both a salsa verde and a salsa rojo, and man... after the very first bite (I started with the chicken), I completely lost my mind. I added the sauces and went to town. Before I knew it, I had eaten all six empanadas. I am ridiculously full right now, but they were so good I honestly couldn't stop myself. If I had ordered a dozen, I would've eaten a dozen. Thank you for being here, thank you for the amazing food, and thank you for giving me something to look forward to every week. I'll definitely be back.

I've had everything from their saltado dishes, empanadas of various kinds, an assortment of their pastries, and ready to go drinks. Everything has been good for the most part. Tho when I'm craving a dessert stop here I favor the guava pastry and the alfajores, & you have to special order the cheese Pastry/bread. I'm a huge fan of "pudim" that's how you say flan in Portuguese! Yet the flan is not my favorite here since the sugar caramelization it's usually cooked too much, causing a burnt flavor, and the consistency is too aerated rather than having a creamy and smooth consistency. I've tried it a few times and that seems to be their consistent style. We get cravings for this place and like that we're mainly serviced by the nice owners of this restaurant. The restaurant is decorated in their native culture in mind. I love that! If you're craving a good empanada or a sweet tooth treat come and give them a try!
