I have been wordering for awhile since I moved here, if there a cantonese restaurant around. Somehow I managed to find this way and gave it a try. It sure brought back some memories to me with their food. The food I ordered was most common thing you could get back in Hongkong or Guangdong area back in China. I also tired some dim Sums there, it teasted good. I think there are something people should try when they get here. There are some other thing on the menu I haven't even heard, but it seems could be tasty. The restaurant's location wasn't so difficult to find me for me. but it did took me quite some time from the Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten. There are many other Asian shops or restaurant around the place, cool to walk around. espically if you try to get something special from Asia. The price was alright, the staff were also friendly when I was there. I think, it is quite cool place to try out some cantonese food. read more

Sesame balls were alright, but then again, coming from the SF area, I have high standards for these kinds of things. * Moderate price range: 9-15 euro dishes, dim sum was all around 3.50 per portion * Service relatively friendly and quick, but also a bit disorganized: we ordered four different dishes, three of which came in a timely manner, and the fourth of which we had to remind them about. The sesame balls came third, so what we considered our dessert was semi-awkwardly in the middle. OVERALL I'd recommend coming here if you want a moderately upscale Chinese food. Went there with my family. Service was poor and unfriendly. Waited for one of my dishes for 30 min. When I enquired, the waiter rudely said You can also cancel your order. Observed that all the waiters were generally unmotivated. The cha siew looked and tasted like dead and colorless. The siew mai was hard. D17 was supposed to be vegetarian. But it came filled with minced meat inside. I was told by many Asian friends in Berlin how bad this place is. I could not believe it. Now I do. Will not go there again! Might be one of the most authentic dimsum places in Berlin... A huge variety of cantonese food/dimsum. The bbq pork was not that good and tasted weird and they didn't have egg yolk custard bun which is kind of sad. The pork bun was ok and most dimsums item like shrimp dumpling (hagaw) shumai (pork dumpling) and lomaigai (sticky rice in lotus leaf) and cheungfan were on point. We waited for almost an hour for food :( and the service was pretty bad ... So i dare say that this place is so damn authentic ... With so damn authentic chinese-style service, on par with the service you would get in China lol A bit pricey (we paid like €17) :( but we left super fulllll read more

As a half chinese person growing up in sweden, I'm incredible grateful for Aroma. The restaurant has a classic look to it. It's clean with BIG tables so you can bring all your friends. You can get Hong Kong styled food which isn't possible in a whole lot of European countries. This is the place to go to have dim sum. The food is decent. I don't care if it's home made or not. I'm just happy to be able to order sweet pork bun and eat Chinese breakfast at all. I've brought Chinese friends there and my mom, and they all liked it! The waiters are saints compared to e.g Good Friends. The service is good. They speak English, Cantonese and German. The menus are in Chinese, English and Russian and perhaps Thai. I don't remember. You won't be impressed if you come from London. London has by far the best Chinese food in Europe, but it's also much more expensive. The rest of Europe don't usually serve traditional Chinese food so this is the closest you can get to a decent Chinese breakfast in Berlin. The wan tan soups tastes great and they don't overcook it as every other Chinese restaurant in Berlin. They open at 12 so it's perfect to go there and relax and eat dim sum for a couple of hours. I love this place because it's the best Chinese restaurant in Berlin. I must warn you that some dumplings might be a little bigger than you're used to. read more

This is probably the worst experience i've ever had in terms of eating out in Berlin. We wanted to eat real dim sum dishes and this restaurant sounded like the best option. Whole restaurant probably had seen it's bette days. There is nothing fancy about decoration, tables are covered with plastic mats, light is super bright ( like when you visiting a dentist). There is also aquarium with sad fishes swimming in dirty water. Fine, we didn't came here to admire interiors but for food. However, one could a bit acknowledge that a little bit of refurbishment wouldn't hurt. Food was a big disappointment, dim sum was mediocre and service very slow and extremely impolite and snobbish. They gave us really bad attitude like they don't feel like serving us. Such a pity! There are so many better places around a corner stay away from this place.. read more

Not really a "dim sum" place per se. Sure, one can order (relatively expensive) dim sum dishes, but that's just it--you must order and wait up to 20 minutes to get it. This IS NOT a proper dim sum restaurant. (a place that seats 200+ with servers that continually push carts around the tables. You get a slip of paper and as a cart comes by with something that looks good, you wave, the food is delivered, and your paper is stamped.) I miss real dim-sum where I can get a full table of food within minutes of sitting down. Dim-sum food is designed to be on a cart for a little while. When it's fresh made-I don't know, it's missing something. It needs to sit in steam for a bit to get the magic. I've been here a couple of times and while they have all the dishes (even chicken feet), it's not the experience I was looking for. It's just not right. Coming from San Francisco, where some of the best Chinese found can be found, this place can almost compare. Unfortunately, it's not the best, but definitely the BEST IN BERLIN that you can get. The service is nice and pretty quick. I'm not sure if some I the stuff is actually "home made", but it's good and made my stomach happy. read more

This is a tolerable Chinese restaurant - nothing fancy, especially not the food. But they have the widest selection of 'home-made' dimsum in Berlin although I would dispute that claim as only a few dishes might not have come from some frozen supermarket packs. Still, this place is better at dimsum than Good Friends down the road, so it does not say much for dimsum in Berlin in general. The other dishes are also adequate but not nearly as good as they should be, although I am very discerning when it comes to Chinese food, so perhaps I am being a little too stringent here. We visited on a recommendation and were not disappointed with the food! Coming from Australia where we have amazing Asian food available, I'd been seriously missing authentic Chinese food so was excited to discover Aroma. The dim sum selection is small but every item we tried was very tasty. Recommend the steamed prawn dumplings (D1) and fried pork and tofu (D14). We LOVED the fried tofu with salt and pepper (like salt n pepper squid but with tofu) and it was proper spicy, very tasty and just like what I've had back home. The menu is seriously overwhelming, but filled with some tasty options. The decor is outdated but similar to some places back home too, so didn't bother us at all. This place doesn't look like much but actually is the best place to get Dim Sum in Berlin. The rest of the food is very good as well and based on what Chinese friends have told me the food is very authentic. The menu has one section for traditional Chinese cooking and one section Cantonese cooking. read more

Best dim sum in Berlin, hands down. It's on the traditional end of things, not all modern fusion like Yumcha. Great menu with almost all of the basics covered and then some. Just missing Xiao long bao. I'd consider doing some unspeakable acts for one (or twelve) of those right now. Highly recommend the black bean spare ribs (forogt the actual menu item name but yeah), but don't let them take the sauce away when you're done. Dip your char siu bao in it. YES. Service is great! Ok, this was recommended from our friends , so we tried it. And it was Horrible!! In my opinion, the price is too high for this kind of food. I know a lot more chinese restaurant that are far more authenthic than this one. The first two pages of the menu that they brought us, were authenthis chinese the rest was the same thing you can get in any "chinese" fast food! Well they had two menus, a red one and a blue one, they waiter was about to bring us the red one, but when he saw us he brought the blue one instead! SO maybe in the red one is for the chinese people. The thing we tried from the first 2 pages were pork ribs and some dim sum. The flavor of pork ribs was ok, but it was chewy and more boes and tissue then meat. DIm sum was too thick and and the consistence was just not right! so 2 stars for the ok service. read more
