There is nothing worse than being a first time mom and asking a few thought out questions only to be made to feel like in idiot. He did not do that at all! He took his time and answered each one thoughtfully. The nurse who took the vitals and introductory information was great as well. Super sweet woman. Random thing to like... but I love that they give you a piece of paper with all your kids info on it and notes from the doctor at the end to take home. My only feedback would be that the receptionists seem like overwhelmed or tired or something. Upon entry and exit both of the ladies that handled me were grumpy and seemed cold. I'm sure it's hard when you deal with so many people so whatever. I can deal with that though for a great doctor, good nurses, a patient portal, clean office and a separate sick waiting room. *I'm still going here two years later and we still see Schraiber for both of my boys. He's my favorite and the front staff still has bad manners. I try to cut people a break, but it's like they all hate their job. I was just in the other week for my second son's monthly check up. I was walking him around a full waiting room with no seats and the receptionist yells very loudly "Lady lady lady who can't sit down and has bad handwriting what's your baby's name?!? I can't read your chicken scratch and I'm too busy to figure it out!!" So I just very meekly say "it's pretty hard to write with a baby on your hip." Two minutes later a new mom and her baby come out and this same receptionist just steam rolls her. I don't get it. How do the doctors keep people like this who are their director of first impressions?!

Because of that, we were especially disappointed by the way we were treated. We recently received a call informing us that our insurance was no longer accepted, even though we are in the middle of the year. To better understand the situation, we did a three-way call with BlueCross Blue Shield and a representative from Sander's. Unfortunately, the Sander's representative, Jennifer, was extremely rude throughout the conversation - not only to us, but also to the BlueCross representative. She repeatedly interrupted us while we were trying to ask questions and, numerous times during the call, announced that she was "leaving the call" even though we were still trying to understand what was happening and had unanswered questions. It felt like she was more interested in ending the conversation than helping us. To make matters even more unprofessional, she answered another phone call while she was still on the line with us. We could hear her entire conversation, making it obvious that she was no longer listening to us or focused on resolving our concerns. We were honestly shocked by how dismissive and unprofessional the entire interaction was. We completely understand that insurance contracts and coverage can change. What is not acceptable is treating patients with disrespect when they are simply trying to understand their options for their children. Families deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect, and unfortunately that was completely lacking in our experience. Based on this experience, we would absolutely not recommend Sander's Court Pediatrics to any family looking for a pediatric practice that values its patients.

I got transferred to billing and paid a $400 bill "in order to schedule an appointment" after paying and being transferred back to scheduling, I was told that my children needed to be approved to be seen by the practice again. After going there and recommending them for MANY years and to MANY friends and family, I was told VIA VOICEMAIL that I am no longer allowed at this practice with my children. When calling for records to be released to see another ped, they refuse to answer phones and put you on hold for a long amount of time RUN FAR FROM THIS PRACTICE!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, our recent experience left us extremely disappointed. I called ahead to let the office know we were running a few minutes late as a courtesy. When we arrived--within what I understood to be the standard 15-minute grace period--we were told they would not be seeing us. I asked if they could make an exception, given our long-standing relationship and the fact that we did call ahead, but was told very firmly, "We only see patients who arrive on time." What was most surprising was how unprofessional the interaction felt. The receptionist told us we could sit in the lobby, but there was no guarantee when or if they'd be able to fit us in. She also stated that the decision came directly from the head doctor of the practice which was especially disappointing after over a decade of care. We understand that schedules are tight and policies are necessary, but there was no flexibility, compassion, or consideration shown--not even a reasonable explanation that we called ahead of time. It's unfortunate to be treated this way after so many years, and we're now re-evaluating whether this is the kind of practice we want to continue trusting with our child's healthcare.

My son is having surgery, and about two weeks ago the office agreed to complete paperwork required for me to use a caregiver leave benefit through my employer so I could care for him during his recovery. The office was aware of the upcoming procedure and had plenty of notice. During my son's pre-op visit, I specifically asked Dr. Donovan-Hunt about the paperwork. She seemed concerned that she was not the pediatrician officially listed on his chart, even though she has seen my son on multiple occasions, but she assured me that Dr. Glikesberg, who is listed as his pediatrician, would complete the forms when he returned. Now, the day before my son's surgery, I received a call from the front desk questioning who had determined that I needed time off to care for my son and telling me that I did not need this time. I found it incredibly inappropriate and upsetting to have office staff questioning my need or desire to use a legitimate benefit provided by my employer. Whether I choose to use an available caregiver benefit to be present for my child after surgery should not be dismissed in this manner. I was then told that Dr. Glikesberg would not complete the paperwork because he was not the physician who performed the pre-op visit -- despite what I had previously been told. If the office was unwilling or unable to complete these forms, that should have been communicated to me when they received them two weeks ago, not the day before surgery when our family is already nervous and stressed. What disappointed me most was the lack of compassion and empathy in how the situation was handled. There was no acknowledgment of how difficult it is for a parent preparing for their child's surgery or of the unnecessary stress caused by waiting until the last minute to tell us this. Thankfully, my son's surgeon has agreed to complete the paperwork, so the issue will ultimately be resolved. However, this experience has completely changed how I feel about this pediatric practice. As a healthcare provider myself who also takes care of patients and families, I understand that offices have policies and physicians have limits on what they are comfortable certifying. What I cannot understand is the lack of communication, empathy, and professionalism in how this was handled. I am very disappointed and would encourage parents to consider a pediatric practice where they feel their concerns and their child's needs will be treated with compassion, especially during something as stressful as surgery. Update: I received a call today from the practice manager, Valerie. She personally reached out to ask about my experience and apologized for how the situation had been handled. I was genuinely impressed by how seriously she took my concerns. She was grateful for the feedback, and it was apparent that her call was not simply to apologize, but to truly understand where the process had gone wrong and how their procedures and communication could be improved going forward. I greatly appreciate both Dr. Gliksburg and Valerie reaching out personally. Their responses made a significant difference in how I feel about the situation and showed me that the practice does take patient and family concerns seriously. I know that mistakes and communication breakdowns can happen. What matters greatly is how an organization responds when concerns are brought to its attention. I was very disappointed by the original experience, but I am equally appreciative of how seriously the practice took my feedback afterward and the effort they made to address it.

The office has always been able to accommodate getting us in when needed. I'm a bit attached to Good Shepherd Hospital and associated buildings. I have come to the Good Shepherd facilities since I was a kid, myself. My own pediatrician was in this same Doctor's building. I started bringing my son here when we lived in Algonquin. We moved to Buffalo Grove about 5 years ago, and I STILL make the drive out to Barrington to see him, which goes to show how much I like him - because it's quite a drive to get there. In a nutshell, Dr. Beckerman, while having a positive and upbeat manner, completely missed a diagnosis of strep throat in my daughter. I went in on a Monday morning, my daughter had had a temperature of 101-103 for 3 days and coughing and a sore throat. He told me she was "basically fine" and that whatever she had, it was a virus and it would "play itself out". I was surprised by this and told him I was sure there had to be something, as my daughter was wanting long naps and telling me it hurt when she swallowed, etc. He laughed it off, gave me mini-lecture on viruses and told me that she could go back to school the next day if she had no fever. I thought, well, hell, he's the doctor....ok. So we went home and her fever did go away and so I sent her to school the next day, even though she still had a sore throat...but it's the second week of school and she was dying to go back. On Tuesday, I called the doctor again and spoke to his nurse that assured me, that it was most likely still a virus and that if she still had a fever or sore throat by Friday, to give them a call. I was dubious, but hello, they are the professionals, right? By Wednesday, the sore throat persisted and she was starting to cry when she was swallowing...and she'd developed hives. Whoa... Took her to immediate care, where they were baffled as to how Dr. Beckerman had missed the redness of the throat and swollen glands. I mentioned that he didn't look at her throat and they shook their heads and suggested we talk to him about her having strep now. I get that doctors aren't God, of course not! But...Dr. Beckerman rushed through the appointment, didn't really listen to what a mother was trying to say...we are the best advocates for our children, and we know them best. He ignored my suggestions and essentially told me that he knew better. But he didn't. And my daughter was sick for two extra days because he was WRONG. And she exposed all the kids in her class and on the bus and guess what? Now *I* have strep and my husband will probably be next. Frustrating When I called him to talk about this, I thought I'd get empathy and consideration for what happened. Nope. Dr. Beckerman was defensive and talked over my comments. Even went as far as to say that I must not have said anything about her having a sore throat. I was agape at his rude tone and the fact that not once did he ask how she was and if she had improved. No...it was all about him and his repuation. Very sad. I told him that I fgured that we'd go elsewhere and he let me know that he was "fine with that" and hung up. Nice and gee, very professsional. We'll be on the hunt for a new pediatrician...Dr. Beckerman might be more suited to older kids, but I know that he won't be getting our business or the business of anyone who asks my opinion on finding a new pediatrician.

Dr. Sara Star is our kids pediatrician here and she is absolutely wonderful. She takes her time,…read moretalks to the kids and allows us some vaccine flexibility since we prefer to space things out. The front desk and nursing staff are also very kind and we are almost always able to make appointments within 24-48 hrs. which is awesome as our schedule is sometimes hard to predict. I cannot speak about the other physicians in this practice but Dr. Star is simply terrific!
