When the owner didn't really answer my question and responded he couldn't come Monday, I asked for a clarifying answer - did he mean he couldn't come on Monday, or anytime before Monday? Instead of just politely giving me an answer or saying "sorry, we're not available", the owner said no, and then took it upon himself to berate me with a curt "should've contacted me sooner." I didn't realize he was doing ME a favor in this business arrangement. At the last lawn mowing the previous year, I also found a large pile of grass clippings and various leaves debris piled up against one side of my fence, hidden behind my hydrangea bush which could have led to rot and mildew against my fence. When I brought it up, the owner said because we didn't pay him for official removal of the leaves, he felt it was fair for his team to leave the debris in my yard - instead of notifying me or calling me to ask me (when they were there) what we can do about it. It also didn't make sense because the debris pile consisted mostly of new grass clippings and not the mulched leaves. Another time, they came when I was home and the gate to the backyard was closed since it was about an hour earlier than when I usually expect them. Instead of ringing the doorbell or trying to call me, they decided to mow the front lawn and leave within 10 minutes. I had to text back noting that I saw the back lawn wasn't done before the team came back to do the job. One or two mishaps I'm ok with - even an increase in prices, which happened this year - but the attitude was the straw that broke the camel's back. Maybe they have more business now and don't need mine. They won't miss me, and I won't miss them and can no longer recommend them in good faith to anyone.

They fully gutted our backyard, leveled out, installed an extensive retaining wall, reinstalled the fence, installed new patio areas and stepping stones, and installed new sod. Diego and his crew worked SO HARD. Our project was done in July 2025 and it was so hot out, but Diego and his guys wanted to finish our project for us before the summer ended. Diego was always communicative, kind, professional, knowledgable, and such a pleasure to work with. He worked with us on our budget, gave us multiple options, and made the best recommendations. BC Knowles does an unbelievable job each week with the lawn and with the seasonal maintenance. Not only did my plants bounce back (it was the second year for most of them), but they are really flourishing. They do a particularly nice job with edging the beds. We get many compliments from our neighbors and notice that one of them is now using them for their weekly service. We really like that they use all organic treatments, which are people and pet friendly. I also used Knowles for a couple of instances of snow removal when we were out of town. Came home from work one day to find a large section of my retaining wall tumbled over into my…read moreneighbor's yard. The wall was originally built by the builder before we moved in mid 2004. The wall started to lean slightly within 5 years as it was not built with drainage in mind. This time around, I wanted the retaining wall build the right way. I called Charles and Son Construction & Landscaping to get an estimate because I prefer someone local and was pleased with their online reviews. Carlos arrived as scheduled to write up the estimate. He immediately suggested re-using the blocks since they seemed to be in decent condition and would save money. I met with another company the day prior and was originally planning on getting a 3rd estimate. After getting Carlos' very reasonable estimate and asking a few question regarding timeline, I approved the estimate and was ready to move forward. Just 3 days later, the work started and was finished just 4 days later with a Sunday and a rainy Monday that was a wash out. I was so pleased since this has been on my todo list for the last several years and relieved to have it done correctly. My neighbor was also pleased to get part of his yard back. I highly recommend Charles and Son Construction & Landscaping for any outdoor project. You won't be disappointed. I plan on calling Charles and Son Construction & Landscaping again in a couple of years for driveway and walkway pavers.

Until yesterday the way the grass was cut was good, but up-to yesterday 7/16/19 the person who came to cut the grass had an incident where he broke the hose splitter that was connecting our automatic system to water the grass and another hose. The way the person handled (pulled the hose) was not the proper way if you pull something once and its not easily coming to you specially if is another person property you need to see what its obstructing and carefully bring to you to move it out of your way without breaking other person property. We had a video that shows the pulling, unfortunately I couldn't posted in this review. Accidents happen I text Mr Michael about the incident, he claim my hose was old and his guy did not wrongly move it out of the way to break it, I did not find his answer professional, I had bought the splitter and automatic system on june 27 2019. Old or New that was not the point. I work with clients my husband have a business that deal with clients if an employee makes a mistake or an accident, first apologize to the customer, then find the best solution. The splitter it's around $10 to $20. I didn't like the way the person that cut the grass treated my property. To complete my 2 star review the screen shots of Mr Michael as the owner of Sunshine explains what type of experience he has in business, breaking the splitter was a small issue, very simple to resolve, he lost his temper and his reply was very childish. As new homeowners, we didn't know what we were doing, especially with tricky grounds; an uneven lot, lots of bushes and trees, fallen branches and a mess of a backyard thanks to the former homeowners and a nasty winter. Within an hour of putting in a request for a quote Mike checked in and was at our place to check out our property a few hours later. Immediately after he left he called with options and pricing and we were put on his list for next week during a busy spring in suburban landscaping; all the other places we called would not come out to our location! He was able to come the next morning!!! Our lawn, the trees and the shrubs and flower bushes look beautiful and the pricing was fair for such a big spring cleanup. We will definitely call Sunshine for our regular upkeep.
