We spent a weekend in South Dakota with family and stayed at a cabin about 100 feet away from the ABR Boathouse Grill so it made sense to check it out.
It was fairly crowded when we arrived at around 5 yet we could still find two tables to seat our party of 12.
The menu is the typical bar food fare of burgers, pizzas, nachos, tacos, wings, etc.
The waitress came over and took our drink order and we got drinks about 5 minutes after she stopped by. About another 5-7 minutes she came to take our food order.
And this is where the waiting starts...
We waited probably 30-45 minutes for our food and in that time, she did not stop by our table once to 1. Check on drinks. 2. Reassure us that food was coming 3. Acknowledge we had been waiting a long time.
Service can really make or break an experience.
Once we got into the food, it was fairly underwhelming. The pizza was probably a 5/10, wings were still chewy on the skin, and the burger tasted like it was a frozen patty.
My shredded beef tacos were pretty decent and probably one of the better entrees.
Overall, service and food left so much to be desired! I suppose they'll stay busy because there isn't much competition around the are but I do hope they step up their game without being forced through via capitalism ;) read more
