Let me begin by saying straight up that I don't have much time for golf. I am just not into it, I…read moredon't want to diss it, but I just don't like it. That however didn't stop me from accepting an invitation to come and have a bit of fun with one of my mates who loves golf...... aaaahhh the silly ol coy!!! He just kept going on and on about the fact that Mere Golf & Country Club was one of the UK's most prestigious golf, social and business venues, frequented by the likes of Alex Ferguson. I wasn't convinced but what pushed me over was actually watching an episode of top gear :D I just wanted to see what this golf club malarkey was all about in Top gear... You know Jeremy Clarkson's rants about the car parks etc. And....How right was Jeremy Clarkson by the way!!!!!!! As soon as we drove in it felt as if these men were lining and sizing quite blatantly. I just cringed seeing all similar cars with privatised number plates and just thought ....you bunch of jockeys... but hey...people live how they wanna live so ...live and let live eh!! But seriously 5 black porche cayennes side by side with different number plates and different alloys....I just couldn't stop laughing. Any way let me tell you bit about the golf course. For those of you who know a bit about golf, this golf course is apparently one of the most challenging in the UK. The 6,817-yard 18-hole course been described as 'the Wentworth of the North'. There's also a wide range of practise facilities, including six practise bays, a two-tier putting green, bunker and pitching area and full video analysis. The course has a long history and was designed in 1935 and has many distinctive holes, of which the last four are the most famous - long, accurate drives over ravines and water, 90-degree doglegs, devilishly positioned trees and bunkers - all adding up to an exceptional challenge for even the best golfers. ie NOT ME!!! I must say though it was very peaceful and relaxing accompanying my friend round the course for a bit and then hitting some balls into the lake. The view from the outdoor driving rang was simply breath taking. Although I can imagine it might make some people feel slightly envious of all those art deco mansions across the lake. I was gawking at them half the time!!!!!!! They looked like they belonged to some hollywood producers..... However on second thoughts I veered towards the possibility that here sat the humble abodes of some United players no doubt. I personally.....didn't get it....and may not come again....but hey I am giving it 5*, because for golfers it does what it says on the tin. ...So Im down with that yknow what Im sayinnnnnnnnn!!!! boooyaaa

I went here for an overnight stay and spa day for a birthday treat. The room was very clean and…read moremodern with TV, fridge and tea-making facilities. The swimming pool was warm and there was a separate jacuzzi area. The massage rooms were relaxing, and there is 10% discount on treatments if you stay at the hotel. The food in the brasserie was delicious and the staff were accommodating. The bar area was pleasant and the outdoor seating area has fantastic views of the lake. Definitely recommended for a relaxing break

Red House Farm has got a great outdoor play area consisting of a large sandpit, complete with an array of buckets and spades, a small 'track' where there a couple of mini electric cars (coin operated), a play house, a digger (again coin operated I think) and several slides, swings and seesaws to suit littles and slightly bigger kids. They've also got a café complete with outdoor seating if it is a nice day and a simple but honest menu consisting of hot and cold sandwiches, toasties, salads, jacket potatoes and platters, as well as a small selection of kid's meals. They try and source produce locally which is always great to see and also have a mighty fine selection of cakes if you just want a cuppa and a something sweet. I had the delicious home roasted beef and blue cheese platter which came with a selection of salads and crusty bread, although they were a bit mean and only gave me one small slice which wasn't really in balance with the amount of beef and cheese, although they were happy to provide more when I asked. My daughter could have easily spent all day here and it was a great outdoor alternative to the horrors of soft play so we'll definitely be back.

There are things for the kids to do, bus as our are a little old I can't really comment on them, but they look like fun! Everything is cooked pretty much in front of you and it's a friendly place.
