Absolutely NO atmosphere due to the lousy excuse of a DJ who spent more time out of the room drinking than interacting with the audience. We only actually heard him speak twice.... once to tell us the group would be finally appearing 9.30pm and the second time to tell us it was nearly midnight!!!! what a shame as its a lovely club with a lot potential and friendly bar staff. This club took a booking in summer last year for my daughters wedding reception to be held in September of this year. My nephew is a member and made the booking for us because most of my family live in the area so that is why we wanted the club. A week ago we were told that they had doubled booked for someone else. Even though we had a booking receipt and we had booked long before the other party the committee decided to let the other person keep the booking because they had booked the catering with the club and we had not. My daughter had already sent out the invitations to friends and family so she was very upset because she now had to find another venue and have the invites printed again once she had found a venue. The club and the committee are an absolute disgrace for putting my daughter through the stress, but i will make sure that all my friends relatives and acquaintances now what this clubs standards are, Shame on them.

This is a former works club, transformed once the mills and factories shut down. It caters for a…read morewide variety of pursuits, but is mainly a club with a number of bars including a very plush lounge, a comfortable bar area (with tables for dining), a "games" area with snooker tables, darts, pool, dominoes etc. and extensive function rooms. These function rooms are used for events such as wedding receptions, birthday parties and the like right up to full scale rock nights (The Hamsters have played here) and ballroom dancing. Well worth the odd visit. 9.7.2011 I attended an excellent charity night here last night. This demonstrated the positive and negative aspects of the club. We were told not to go downstairs for drinks as we aren't members. The upstairs bar had a very small choice of beers and a couple of them were undrinkable. What was on offer was all just above freezing. The entertainment, the room and the refreshments were all first class

Clean, well kept toilets and ample car parking though I travelled by bus. Publc transport to the venue seemed to be frequent and bus drivers knew where I wanted to go.
