Le Pere Coquart Cafe - An elegant presentation of a classic. Very tasty; not nearly as sweet as most other pudding au chomeurs; pleasant mouthfeel.

Its Maritime-y vibe stays true to its port-side location. The menu consists mostly of a variety of pub starters, homemade pizzas, and sandwhiches. The drink menu varies between local brews, a small wine selection, and some interesting cocktails that I regret not trying. My friends and I shared a plate of nachos, an amazing way to start any pub meal. I do not remember exactly what was on them because I was not paying attention, which means they were good enough to distract me from analyzing their secrets. I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich, served in a crusty italian bun and dressed with a wasabi based dressing. This sandwich is responsible for changing the way I think about smoked salmon as an ingredient. The same can be said for wasabi. This sandwich was fresh and tasty the whole way through. The sauce was tasty and offered a mild burning sensation that begins at the pallet and exits the nose - a noteable trait of wasabi. My friends both ordered the Jack Daniels chicken pizza and both enjoyed it very much. Based off the bite I took, the toppings complimented each other well. The sauce added a level of smokiness, over the smokiness of the wood oven, that I enjoyed. Great pub if you are visiting Tadoussac. They are stocked with some tabletop games to keep busy with while it rains. The staff is great. Food is fantastic. I will forever remember Tadoussac as the place I ate a kickass smoked salmon sandwhich, and saw a whale!

I went here twice, once for espresso and it took longer to pay for it than get the coffee, and the place was empty. That's why I rated it down 1 star.

The food is Michelin quality and we tried salicorne (which taste like al dente pea vine) and tête de violon (fiddlehead is the English name and it tastes similar to asparagus) . Didn't get a chance to take a picture of my fiddlehead appetizer since I devoured it immediately! I tried to use Google Translate to understand the menu but the friendly waitress was more than happy to explain it to me in English. Another bonus - it's a family friendly restaurant and although they don't have a kids menu (let's be honest, they are usually bad anyway). They offer half portion for the kids which works out better anyway!

They were very accommodating and let us sit at the bar on a very crowded Friday evening. You could watch the chef and two sous chefs prepare all the meals. They had a very interesting menu although we were tired and it was late and we just got a hamburger and they very graciously made up a green salad for my wife. The hamburger was one of the best I've ever had. It had bacon and onion rings on it with a wonderful sauce and came with a salad and, of course, french fries. My wife had a great green salad. At the bar you can watch them prepare all the meals. If you're American and a bit squeamish you may not like the fact that they seem to mix all the ingredients without gloves are washing their hands. You had the sense that they were very proud of the food they were serving. We were staying in a hotel around the corner which was a bit creepy and this was a wonderful respite. There seem to be a lot of restaurants in this area but not a lot with great reviews. This is definitely worth stopping in for a great meal.

English: Le Matelot is one of my longstanding favorite seafood spots in the Rimouski region. The servers are always very kind, and the location is beautiful. Make sure to reserve ahead of time since it is almost always full, and especially if you want one of the tables that looks over the St-Lawrence (the view is incredible). Make sure to get: -Cheesy Garlic Bread (with or without shrimp): 9/10 - SO good, so cheesy, so rich, so delicious. A real treat. -Lobster!!!: Boiled 9/10, Grilled 10/10 - The grilled lobster is absolutely exquisite, as it is less watery and has a more concentrated, smoky flavor. The boiled is absolutely great as well. As someone with NOT a small appetite, I either go for a 2 pounder or for the special with 2 small lobsters (you can get one grilled and one boiled to compare!). Lobster looks big until you realize that there isn't much flesh to actually eat. Dip that lobster into delicious garlic butter and wow, no words. As for sides, they're not the star of the show. The rice isn't super flavorful, their fries are dissappointing, their salad is pretty good though, and you can also get a baked potato with sour cream (boring but does the job to fill you up). -Pudding Chomeur: 12/10 - Do NOT pass this up. I love pudding chomeur so much, and this one comes out warm, gooey, and so homey. The flavor is just like a comforting hug of sweet, caramelized fluffy goodness.

We sat at the bar and had a nice conversation with the bartender. I ordered a Capitaine Homard draft: it was fantastic. Once seated, we ordered the "Captain's Platter-a Must!" which was a whole lobster, served with smoked salmon, mussels, langoustines, nordic shrimps and whelks. Served with bouillabaisse and fries. I don't know what happened, but it took over 45 minutes to get our food, while people around us, who ordered after us, had their whole lobsters etc served before we got served. I don't mind waiting for a good meal, but when the food came, the lobster was very dry and the whelks were sadly rubbery. The broth was not great. When you're paying $68 for a meal, you want it to be properly cooked. The fries, however, were good and the smoke salmon was excellent. We did try the cheesecake with raspberry coulis for dessert and it was delicious. We got spectacular views of the sunset during and after dinner. I really loved their placemats; they were really pretty. I should have tried to buy some before I left. I would maybe give them another try and order something else expensive, to see how it would turn out.

My jaw dropped when I walked in. It was so cool. It was overly done like a ship with lobster memorabilia everywhere. Everyone in the place was taking photos...they even have a swing inside! I had the lobster rolls and they were fresh and tasty. The lobster tasted like the sea and it was delicious. It's just a 15 minute detour off the highway from quebec to gaspe. But it is definetly worth the drive out. They also have a lovely campground near the water which was pretty nice as well. It's a tourist attraction and I honestly can say if you are in the area I would not miss it! Theres the submarine close by so stop here before and after that visit...you're welcome!
