Lots of different spots to pick out depending what you're bringing that day, lots of room, and each bay has a nice table, cover, trash, and brass disposal. It's an outdoor shooting range with a pistol range, a rifle range, a bow range, and I believe a clay shooting range. Possibly more but I have not seen the rest. I would recommend this place, just be careful of the other shooters there. You can get some inexperienced shooters there. The first time I went, there were two older guys who were shooting for the first time and one of their pistols wasn't shooting correctly so they decided to look down the barrel of their loaded pistol. I had to step in and stop them from doing anything else ridiculous and help them troubleshoot their issues.

Here's the irony--I lived in Las Vegas for 15 years and had never been to Lake Mohave until I moved to Phoenix and came back for a work project at Cottonwood Cove. Man oh man do I wish I had known of this beauty in all the years I felt stuck in a overbuilt, dirty city. My zen level would have been far better had I taken periodic trips to the lake. I mean, I've obviously been to Lake Mead but it's not special. The surrounding desert is, but the lake is murky and gross. Lake Mohave has no serious bath ring, has beaches, and has beautiful clear water. The Cottonwood Cove area even has a store with tons of beverages and snacks at reasonable prices. I definitely will be back in the future for some R&R in this desert oasis. Definitely do yourself a favor and spend some time relaxing on a boat here, I really don't think you'll regret it.

Pulled off of Highway 40 on a whim to…read moreexplore Lake Mohave and after several long minutes on winding narrow road amongst the desolate desert landscape, the road opens up and you arrive at the lake, which laid beautiful against the backdrop of the desert landscape and gave off an aura of mystery and tranquility and rest. People were canoeing and paddle boarding and fishing. Met a young conservationist from the fish hatchery there who showed off the baby fish which he had taken from the lake to nurture in the hatchery. We sat by the lake for awhile and enjoyed the atmosphere and scenery, but wished we had more time dedicated to the lake. Will definitely be back and do some canoeing next time!

The park has improved since our first visit about 3 summers ago. We come here at least once and we all enjoy it, we get there early morning and leave right before closing. I may add, if you go during the summer, you MUST wear sun protection and bring lots of water, the heat is no joke. The water is really cold which is refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff is very friendly and informative, also very helpful!! My tent blew away during a little windy moment and they helped me bring it back while also providing tips to prevent it from happening again. In the past, we had to get there before the park opened to secure a spot and once capacity was met they didn't allow anyone to enter. This was tough since there were a couple times we didn't make it on time and had to go elsewhere. Now, things have changed, which is a lot more convenient. They only allow the people that have reserved online go in from 7am-11:30am. If you DO NOT have reservations, you will NOT be allowed in before 11:30. At 11:30 they will only allow you in if they haven't reached capacity and it's first come first serve. If you did RSVP and make it after 11:30am, you risk losing your spot since general people will be allowed in at that time.
