I went over with him very carefully how to feed my older horse and what to feed him And I found that he wasn't able to follow my simple instructions or he may have just not been willing to follow my instructions. I really think it's probably the latter. He is very unhappy, and every little thing that irritates him becomes a new rule after he goes and whines about it to the ranch's lease holder. She depends on him because she is unwilling to do the work herself or hire someone with more on the ball. She spends half the week with her boyfriend in Phoenix and as long as the work is done whether it is done correctly or not that's really all that matters to her. Her name is Deborah. She is checked out. She rarely comes out of her house, except to teach her riding lessons. She does very little with her own horses. What really is egregious about this situation is that she leaves their blankets on in 60° weather on winter days. And these are not simple sheets- these are heavy rugs. Her poor horses. They sweat. They cannot regulate their temperatures very well at all and they are just miserable. And there are some horses that are boarding there as well whose owners' pay for them to be blanketed and un blanketed and this does not happen on most days. They'll stand in their blankets for days on end when the afternoons are gorgeous and warm. I couldn't stand to see the cruelty anymore, and I said something. If you see something, say something. I doubt it will ever change and that's a shame for her poor horses. I feel like they're more like four-legged possessions to her than actual sentient beings who have feelings. Now because I said something I have to leave. There's no way it's going to get better but I couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer. Because I care about all horses not just my own.

You do not get much more bang for your buck. Boarding wise I HIGHLY discourage utilizing the facility. She doesn't own the land so there are limits but the landowners leave it dilapidated and dangerous. She invests minimally in improvements to the property. Her ranch caretaker is not a horse person and does not know how to interact with them at times due to the lack of meaningful training. I paid full care and according to the contract this includes daily pasture cleaning, hay feeding, and grain feeding if you prepare the bags. He only cleaned every other day and would not feed the grain. He Doesn't know how to interact with young horses. He bad mouthed my very well behaved 2 year old gelding to the woman who was helping me move out. Unprofessional and inappropriate. He doesn't even provide the obligations outlined in the boarding contract. On top of it you have to pay for and deliver your own hay. With $500 board that is inappropriate as well. Nobody here is ill-willed or malicious but please avoid learning a hard lesson like I did. Fortunately I ended up at a wonderful private facility with a great property manager.

She was flexible, accommodating, and genuinely committed to making our adventure special. I brought my two grandchildren along, and they had an absolutely wonderful time. The horses themselves were beautiful, healthy, and easy to ride--clearly well cared for and well trained. Our ride through the Prescott National Forest was nothing short of spectacular. As we followed Big Bug Creek and made our way deeper into the forest, both Phyliss and Janice shared an incredible wealth of knowledge. We learned about the region's gold mining past, Native American history, early settlers, and even the geology, plant life, and wildlife that make this part of Arizona so unique. I really wanted to go horse back riding today and decided to come here since they were the only ones with availability today after I got jerked at Park view in Islip. The lady seemed to have an attitude over the phone but I wasn't going to let that stop my plans. Once I arrived I saw a regular house then found out it's a private home that is next to preserves. I was told to pull up in front of gate and was unsure if I should wait or go in. I decided to wait since I saw her saddling horse. Katherine was nicer in person and seems to care about her horses. I rode Bandit who was behaved well but the actual trail wasn't people friendly lol. The trail wasn't cleared of logs on ground and the branches were hanging low so I had to bob and weave. I got smacked on face which caused a small cut and scraped on arm and hand. Other than that it was a nice stroll since I love horses. Couldn't really trot or run due to trail not being clear. I was told the price was $50 for hour then was charged $55 on pay pal. I don't plan on returning but I'm glad I was able to ride a horse today

She got to know my riding ability, which wasn't much and never pushed me beyond my comfort level asking continually if I was ok. And if you look at her website she does advanced training. I was so impressed with it when I come back I will visit her again. I highly recommend it, even if you don't have much experience. She has a lot of knowledge about the surrounding area.

The staff is very young and ineffective. I have seen people covered with sores allowed to soak in…read morethe indoor pool. I watched an elderly man spit phlegm all over the cement around the pool. Many times I've had people, often adults in groups, commandeer the lap lane I had reserved and the staff was very reluctant to make them yield. The indoor pool is deafeningly noisy and can be pretty gross. The outdoor pool is cleaner, but children are allowed to hurl sharp, heavy objects at face level, and the Rec Center management takes zero responsibility when their neglect results in injury. I advise visiting only during the 4-6pm outdoor lap swim to avoid losing an eye.

The trail head at Green Gulch offers a lot of variety with open grass and shrub at the beginning,…read morerocky stream bed forested trails, and valley views from the Red Mountain trail. You begin on #9419 Charcoal Gulch trail which is a wide double track road suitable for ATVs. At about one mile the trail meets up with Red Mountain Trail #43 to the right which becomes narrower and rocky and winds through beautiful stream beds with abundant shade. After about a half mile on #43 switchbacks start climbing up to Red Mountain which offers great views to the east and north to Prescott Valley. This climb is rocky and a bit steep so will get your lungs going. Good hiking boots are needed, prefab let high top for ankle stability. We did a total of about 3 miles out and back but you can make this much longer as this trail connects to #42 Prospector Trail which is part of Lynx Lake. We will plan to go back and checkout a bit of #42 next time. On a cloudy and cool Friday in December we encountered only one person on the flat beginning section of the trail so this a great area for some solitude.
