I lived in Colombia for 6 months a few years ago and this is not just the closest I've been since I'd say I'm pretty much there when I have a set meal - almuerzo at the back of the market. It has a great family atmosphere and some interesting stalls. It is under immediate threat of demolition at the moment. To be replaced by chain stores and luxury flats. But a major campaign is underway. Check out this site for more information: wardscornercommunity.org.uk

The first time I went past Sven Sisters underground station I walk ed right past it. If fact I only found it walking in to a cafe only to find it had a door at the back into this hidden Latino world. There was music playing sunny tunes, with children dancing around, old people just chatting away in Spanish. The place seems more on eone gaint social club than a load of shops. Had a huge meal with fresh juice, followed by a Colombain strong coffee. Than just enjoyed the vibe. Often pop in when passing. Top tip go on saturday for a hair cut, a meal, stock up on books, dvds, music for learning the language. Or just pop into for a coffee or frozen juice on a stick. And if all this eating and drinking gets too much there is always the suit and corset maker to hide the sins.

A woman's dream I had never heard of it myself, and was quite amazed to find out that it was in Haringey. I have to say that with a name like Florentina Village, we expected something amazing, a hidden gem. But we were quite let down, it is far from what is sounds like. It is surrounded by factories, the car park virtually punctured the tires on the care and must fit about 100 cars, but there was only 5 cars in there. You then walk into a little precinct, which does in some kind of weird way resemble a village. There was hardly any people and half the shops were closed. We went into all the shops and sadly she didn't fin anything, it was a real anti climax. You can find things there, there are some nice clothing and a woman can definitely add to her wardrobe here, a couple of bridal shops etc, but I don't think my girlfriend will be venturing here again, and if she wants to, she can go on her own, I'll be rearranging my sock draw.

Sometimes you go you will find bucket loads of stuff, other times you wont. You just need to take time out and look. My personal favourite is Cos's Cave. He has a wide variety off stuff, he also talks to you and makes you feel very comfortable. Florentina Clothing Village IS My Little Gem Hidden From Everyone. Every time i go the car park is full off people, the shops can be packed. i would highly recommend you take your spouse's and partners there's, its a good place to get some nice stuff. its a very good place but to find good stuff you have to visit regularly.

My advise look at the bill twice before you leave the store. This time i have paid 10 pounds more. I was charged for 3 melons instead of one and something that was 99 pence i was charged 2.99. My fault for not returning immediately but I no longer believe this is an error as this is not the first time. I was served at till 3 and amount was 71.76 when it should have been around 60.

Have you ever been stalking someone? - Well, I turned in to a food-stalker yesterday...but let me…read moretell you the whole story: I was walking peeking into the window of a bakery on Green Lanes when I overheard the conversation of a couple next to me; she was saying: "This bakery isn't so good...I know a place up the street that my Mom swears by!" This conversationary bit made my rudimentary detective instincts come alive immediately: I folded up the collar of me trench coat, put on my sun-glasses and picked up the trail. The couple, she in pink trainers and he in checkered yoga-pants - blazed their way up North on Haringay Lanes...I stayed behind at a non-intrusive distance and made sure to always look lackadaisically into a shop-window when they happend to turn around... After a few minutes they seemed to have reached their destination, as they disappeared into a store. I waited a few polite seconds until I entered the store as well...and let me tell you, I thought I'd entered Nirwana...at least a Baklava-and-other-Turkish-Pastry-Nirwana! AMAZING!!! I walked around the store for quite a while and I was simply just in awe...my mind began racing: What should I buy? What should I eat now and what should I take home? But, would it even make it home? In the end, I settled on a nice selection of different kinds of baklava-type pastries, which the kind lady behind the counter helped me pick out. Then I discovered a door that would lead into the grocery store next door: a Turkish/Greek supermarket that not only sells amazingly fresh produce, but also features an impressive selection of olives and other mediterranean goods. In fact, in the fridge I discovered "Cyprus Style Pastirma", which was looking so deliciously that I simply had to buy it...even though I had no idea what it would taste like nor how I would have to cook it. I guess I'll figure it out before the expiration date on April 20th... So...in the end I think I have to re-evaluate my opinion on the activity of stalking...at least when it comes to food-stalking. After all, it can make the difference between an ok and a an amazing day out!
