Huge department store right in the centre of town!…read more This Debenhams boasts a beauty and perfume department, large mens, womens and childrens clothing departments, as well a large homeware, electronics and toy department! Great for birthday or xmas shopping, you could easily have all your needs met in this one shop. There are easily accesable toilets and even a good, well priced cafe. Parking is close by, and staff are eager to be helpful. Can get busy near to xmas though!

I find it a bit of a chore to work my way around the store to find anything but at times I have found a good bargain. The store is generally clean and tidy, just has a lot in it. There is a large range of gifts, especially now in the run up to christmas but I would say they are a bit pricey. This is made easier by the fact that they seem to have a sale every other week.

Best for you if you are bigger than a size 16 or smaller than a size 10! There are no longer any children's clothes stocked which is a shame because they used to be good value. Queues are often long and there are few staff on the shop floor if you have any questions.

Health and Safety needs to be addressed in store, the old style rugs are often not laid on the floor properly which resulted in me nearly tripping over on my last visit, the only saving grace was that i brought £250.00 worth of clothes for £100.00.

Their products are OK and well made, but not very fashionable. Their sale prices are often under £10 but their original prices are very expensive. They also have a big range of jewellery, but I really dislike it, it generally seems a bit gaudy, not what I'd expect in a designer shop. The staff are helpful when you need to work out UK sizing as the labels are a bit confusing.

They had nail bars, a Turkish cafe, a Boswell's cafe, an eat all ya like Chinese/Japanese/Thai place charging £20 fixed price for food. It's also where the Starbucks is located that charged me 5p for tap water - the 5p was allegedly for the plastic cup when they were coming down with ceramic cups. They've driven my gold membership business from Starbucks since. I'd guess mine is at least £1,000 spend annually. There's plenty of chargeable parking here and we found one common theme driving around England - is not a parking friendly country and especially not a disabled parking friendly country. Local authorities starved of funds from central government crooks now fleece their communities at every turn and charging for parking on roads is just another income source. This is despite the fact that drivers already repeatedly pay for roads over and over through road tax, by paying for extortionate road fuel taxes and in general taxes are robbed here too. In fact Portsmouth centre had a surprising number of independent nail bars; most of which were staffed by Asian folk.

The Cascades is a meduim sized shopping arcade in Portsmouth town centre. As well as having a Starbucks and an O'Briens for snacks and refreshments. There has recently been a refubishment, which now means there is space upstairs for a 'Food Court'. This mainly hosts a Subway, amongst other small eateries. There is a car park to the rear of the Cascades, which meakes for perfect parking to reach it. Quite pricey for parking, but close to the shops!
