Really nice staff, better than most M&S stores I've been to to be fair. My main issue was the lack of available sizing. So many tops in a size 20 and a lot of items in sizes 16-20 with very little available under that. Disappointing as I drove out of my way to get a few basics. The food court was nice. Very busy as with any big M&S, but most items in stock that I was looking for. They also had the new oat range, which will be really useful on my long work days so looking forward to trying them! On a side note, I am obsessed with these coconut bars, but they vary from £2:75 to £3.50 for one bar! The higher price was in Jersey but it's still ludicrous. read more

I was here a few days ago whilst visiting my son. Spacious, well stocked and in these times of lesser stores herding us around like cattle this one was relaxed and people could go about their shopping in a normal grown up, responsible manner. Thank you M&S for not giving me a humiliating shopping experience and your products were top notch as always. You get what you pay for. read more

This is probably one of the biggest Marks and Spencers i have ever been to. I once heard it was the biggest in the country although i am unsure if this is true! It has a massive clothes section as well as a fairly large food section. The clothes section is laid out well with a large accessory section and a large underwear section not often found in smaller Mark's. The food section is good however it sometimes doesnt have everything you want in stock especially when they have a 2 can dine for £10 offer. This store is right next door to a Sainsbury's, the entrances are literally together and there is no need to go outside to get from one to the other, so after you have done some food shopping you can pop next door for some extra special bits! Staff are always friendly and any offers they have are usually by the front door which is good so you know before you buy. The only disadvantage to this is that i find the store quite hard to navigate and often get lost!! read more

I love this M&S! I think mainly because it is so huge and well stocked. As well as a clothing and home area there is a small supermarket too. Whatever you are after, this store has it. And if it doesnt, its attached to a massive Sainsburys!! Its very clean and the aisles are always wide and clear. Staff are very friendly and approachable, and prices as always in Marks very reasonable for the quality they offer. This store is out of the way, so you will need to live local to hedge End or have transportation but all this allowing you really cannot go wrong. If you are out for the day, you can even stop for a bite to eat as there is a resturant situated between Marks' and Sainsburys. read more

A large M&S with an upstairs also, variety of products. Visited, but not in the mood for 'clothes shopping', headed for the 'food hall'. Lovely & air conditioned. Sainsbury's situated right next door. read more

I've been a regular customer of M & S for some 40 years now. I have recently bought something online for collection in-store at the Hedge End Store. I thought I'd call the store first to see if the item was there and whether I should make the journey (8 miles) to collect it. The first time I got through (after a long wait)somebody said they were putting me through to another dept and then I was cut off. I recalled and then waited even longer for an answer, was then told I was being transfered to the relevant dept only be kept waiting for ages again and then answered by the same person who then told me it wasn't possible and hung-up on me. Very disappointing customer care in my opinion. read more

Visited the downstairs cafe with my wife yesterday to have some lunch. We both had jacket potatoes mine was Chilli my wife's Tuna Sweetcorn. We did not eat the potato because they were rock hard, almost as they had just came out of the ground, very disappointing. Will not return there. read more

I visited M&S at Hedge End yesterday lunchtime. The store since the refurbishment is in my opinion a little confusing and cluttered. There seems to be no real flow to the layout. After searching for over 10 minutes I found the bag I was looking for, not with the rest of the bags but in the gifts section! I spoke to one staff member who had no idea where even the bags were. The store was really busy but staff were trolling the queues asking for cash paying customer to go to another till with a shorter queue. The staff were really nice and friendly although when I left I realised they had charged me twice for something so I had to re-queue to get a refund. The quality of the leather bag I bought was exceptional although some items I looked at while browsing seemed to be quite cheap and flimsy looking. I guess that M&S are now trying to capture the budget market as well. read more

The Hedge End Marks and Spencers store is amazing! I have never been in such a huge M and S store! They have a vast selection of all their ranges, from per una to the plus size range, and plenty of all sizes in stock. I have been there when they had a sale on, and it was a shopper's paradise, with rail after rail of reduced clothing! It is an out-of-town store so plenty of parking right outside, and a cafe to keep thirst and hunger pangs at bay. A great shop! read more

I treated myself to a wardrobe makeover and booked an appointment with the Hedgend, instore personal shopper, Janine. We met at 10:30 as arranged and I took my daughter with me for moral support. We had a brilliant time, we were with Janine until 2:30 and had such a laugh, Janine was very honest, but also explained very well what did and didn't work for me and what I should look for. There was never a time when I felt under any pressure to buy anything I didn't like, although I have to say there was very little I didn't want to have!! I did have a good budget and came home with several outfits, accessories and even shoes and I love them all. I would recommend anyone to visit Janine - there's not charge and no pressure. read more

Always a great experience, whether shopping or dining, helpful and friendly. Entertaining when you have a panoramic seat in the restaurant and see how varied and indecisive many shoppers are, read more

I visited the hedge end m&s today and had the most incredibly bad service. I was in the lingerie department and needed to try some items on. The lady said to call if I needed help. After trying some items on ,I needed to change the size of one of them. First there was nobody around to ask, then a lady appeared who informed me that she was much too busy to help as she was the only one in the department today and couldn't leave the changing room area apparently there was nobody else. I had to dress to go and get what I needed myself, only to find the same lady outside of the changing area ,getting a different size for another customer. There were also another 4 members of staff that I could see in the very immediate area. After purchasing my items,I saw that there was £5 off if you spent more than £30-which I had- but I didn't receive my £5 off. Apparently I should have been given a voucher ,but obviously wasn't, even though I spent about 50 minutes in the dept,on the shop floor and the changing area. When I asked about this I was told to go upstairs to receive a refund, with no time left due to the going in and out of the changing room a couple of times,I had to forego the money off. It seems only a select few customers get the service. By the way,the customers getting help we're not only ladies who had made appointments. read more

I tried out the Personal Shopper (PS) facility at Marks and Spencers as I'm not great when left to shop for clothes myself (I get overwhelmed at the range of clothes and choices available and then boredom sets in!). I have also used the PS facility in other department stores with great success. I like M&S clothes and have a soft spot for the Per Una range so I had high hopes for M&S at Hedge End. The consultation with my PS started well - she started by asking me if I was looking for clothes for any particular occasion (wedding, work, party etc). However, she didn't ask me what type of clothes normally appeal to me or what colours I like/dislike. She then walked round the store with me, asking me to point out anything I liked! To be honest, I could have done that myself without booking a Personal Shopper appointment. There was no charge but, compared with previous stores where I have used this facility, this approach seemed a pointless exercise. The lady also seemed uncomfortable telling me whether something was too tight or didn't flatter me. I appreciate this is not an easy thing to do but if you need help or guidance choosing something then it is essential their staff are equipped to give honest opinions. Disappointing experience. read more

I had a very frightening and unpleasant experience in this store I found the staff very rude and unpleasant. My wife had shopped here for 20 plus years for food and furniture mainly. I dont like the place myself as I find the place boring esp the dowdy dull cloths that i believe is aimed at the old persons market place and I am in my 40s. At least my wife now as myself will NEVER use the Hedge End store again and we can shop at high quality fun outlets that treat us with respect and care . M and S in my opinion has gone for low budget staff and cheap quality in clothes this is not good for me or my wife as we prefer higher quality goods and far higher quality staff. We will Drive into Southampton its fun and you get real quality goods. Live your life buy fun things from nice people. So glad my wife will not wear dull M and S cloths ever ! Will never ever ever use store again goodbye for life boring M ans S !! Hope they stop bombarding us with their tacky email adds as we have tried to block and unsubscride. read more

My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant at 8pm on Friday, 17 May 2013. We were shown to a table and told that half the items on the menu were not available. Finally, a waitress came over to take our order and when I asked for lasagne, she said you should have been told when you sat down that there's no lasagne. Her rudeness was unbelievable, utterly disrespectful and totally unacceptable. Needless to say, we walked out. After our meal, we were intending to buy clothes in M&S for our forthcoming holiday but M&S lost our business. M&S would get a negative star rating if such a thing were possible. read more

I am always here!! Think they should reserve me a parking space as I'm such a frequent visitor! It has EVERYTHING here! It really is huge! They now have 2 café/eateries. The restaurant upstairs serves sit down hot food with a waitress service and the one downstairs has just been made bigger with more sofas so that's good! The choice of food and clothing is fantastic and the upstairs home section is great for bedding and pillows. It is also next to Sainsbury's so once you have done your browsing in M & S you can do your weekly shop there too! Really do love this shop! read more

Hedge End Restaurant - Bacon like leather, overcooked poached eggs, toast like ceramic tiles, warm sausage just, very nice marmalade though, all eaten of a grubby looking table top. I do enjoy a cooked breakfast when out shopping.Did tell the chef that it rated one of the worst I ever had, and one of the more expensive, but he didn't seem to concerned. read more

Ordered and paid for a £500 suit for my wedding, was told that the Order desk "did not like to speak with customers" and should make a journey to "find out" whether it had arrived. Arrogance beyond belief! read more
