However, I want to clarify an important update regarding my experience with one specific stylist. After my appointment, the stylist reviewed my personal social media and later sent me a message declining to service me further--not due to anything that occurred during my appointment, but because I styled my own hair differently outside of the salon. While I respect a stylist's right to set boundaries in their chair, reviewing a client's personal content and making assumptions about them felt unprofessional and inappropriate. Client autonomy outside of appointments should be respected. That said, this issue reflects one individual, not the academy as a whole. I would absolutely return to Bellus Academy and simply book with a different student/stylist moving forward.

Well…read moreafter having a baby I knew I didn't want to go back to doing hair and standing on my feet for 10hour days. So I started searching microblading schools and I search alot of schools! FINALLY after a month of deciding I went with microblading Academy because I really did feel drawn to it and wanted to practice on the most models. Being a cosmetologist I knew that education was important but hands-on experience was the most important. Microblading Academy gave me that hands-on experience, I attended the San Diego class and had Josh and Jovi as my mentors. Josh was very upbeat with motivating me and really was helpful with being open to asking my questions, he also a hairstylist. He makes the practice Strokes look so easy!! He's a very sweet soul and when I doubted myself he reassured me. Jovi was very informative with helping me microblad my model and stood by my side to make sure I did a good job. I was nervous, usually things came easy to me and she made sure I felt comfortable with every stroke and color on the two models. She has a girl boss vibe that is continuously sweet. I got to practice on two models from start to finish and each model had comepltly opposite skin tones. I really appreciated working on two different skin types and brows.... it was very important to me that I got the most hands-on experience. During my class, I noticed a returning student coming in to sit inn for a refresher. That really stuck out to me that the company was nice enough to let the returning student sit in on the class again. In total the classes is 10 hours.. I recommend getting a great night sleep, don't lose sleep over being excited for the class like I did & (also being a new mommy did not help) just get your rest so you can be focused and Collective! The first part of the class, you are practicing on fake skin, going over stroke theory and asking questions. Second half is practicing on models. Of course it comes with a kit and also a theory booklet you can read when you return home. Upon returning home I had so much questions and excitement . Josh and Jovi where so nice to answer some questions the very next day. I do believe I will take the refresher class just so that I can feel more comfortable taking clients because just from posting my student work on social media I have had 6 people reach out to me for their eyebrows, I have never seen a response to a service so fast before! I cannot wait to keep practicing and becoming better with my Strokes. A good tip, Amazon sells practice skin! Go for it!! Okay so I've been looking into microblading for a few months because I have little soul patches for eyebrows (hi moms, please take your daughters to trained professionals to shape their eyebrows and make sure they never have tweezers unattended in case they overpluck their eyebrows and their hair never grows back like me) and as soon as I saw Alina's Yelp I was like "this is her". I was sorely mistaken. She is THE ONE. She's seriously so amazing and I really will be a customer life. Couple things: 1) don't think because she charges less than someone else that she isn't as good as someone else charging $600+. She USED to charge $600 and decided that a) its better for her clients and better for her business if she stays affordableI don't (win-win for both of us) b) she can people who may not think they have the opportunity to be able to afford such a luxury and c) her supplies (which are very expensive) only last a year anyways so why not get the most use out of them possible? 2) she drew out this shape on me that had no harsh points or high arches and I was like... "uhh, I dunno" and she was like "I promise, it's not the right thing for your face and it's an old beauty trend that is outdated. Trust me" (and I'm thinking like have you seen this RBF? I need sharp ass brows to let a hater know I stay the coldest) so I just went with it and I was feeling like I was going to walk out of there unhappy and I will be honest and say that it took a full 48 hours for these brows to really win me over but I'm at like 72-96 hours in now and I am OBSESSED. 3) listen to Alina always. She honest to God is the expert. You might have a personal preference but remember how you feel looking at your moms 80s yearbook photos and remember how you feel looking at the lil old lady's that wear heavy blush to church. Makeup adapts and evolves; that's the fun thing about it is that it's always changing as the world is progressing. Alina has seen trends come and go but overall she knows what looks best for the shape of your face and that is timeless and ageless and won't stick out like a sore thumb in old photos so listen to her like she's your grandmother. She also did my lash extensions which (you guessed it!) I'm super in love with. Do yourself a favor. If you're reading this and you've been contemplating if this is your girl or if you wanna get this done, the answer is yes and yes so book her now. Also, for what it's worth, I've heard of a lot of people saying they know people who got this done and the healing process was kinda gross and I'm attaching a photo from day 3. The picture collage is from Friday before and after. And the other picture is Monday, just over 72 hours into having it done and it looks great. As a disclaimer, and this may not be okay for everyone but I had zero bleeding during the session and close to zero scabbing over the weekend, I did wear makeup today so I took a baby wipe and gently buffed off the top layer of gunk since it appeared to be more of what looked like makeup I may have missed from when I got ready and cleaned them off with a watered down (okay, it was saliva) q-tip and it just sort of seemed to exfoliate this layer off the top that ended up revealing even better brows than I had already loved before. The pigment won't settle fully until about a month in but I could care less. Everyday I just fall more in love with these eyebrows. They are soooooo natural and real looking!!!! The teachers I interacted with showed so much love for their kids. What a pleasure to go back to childhood years for a few hours. Lexington is a very diverse school, with kids of many countries or origin and ethnicities. I value the work of the teachers to deal with so much diversity and cultural differences. When I returned to the office, I found my daughter fainting and crying, completely overwhelmed because of this school's cruel and broken system. She was constantly bullied, and the teachers ignored it entirely. Miss Hoy targeted my child, treated her unfairly, and turned the entire class against her, creating such a hostile environment that my daughter suffered a panic attack. Mr. Henderson failed to step in or protect her in any way. The nurses were negligent and careless. My daughter is diabetic, yet they forced her to miss a once only school activity just to drink three bottles of water. These games only happen once, and she missed the entire game, which left her devastated. The school itself is dirty, poorly maintained, and feels unsafe. This place left my child traumatized. Worst school ever. The staff are unprofessional, irresponsible, and should not be working with children. We toured this facility and there is no way I would send my child here…read more The classrooms are a big box, no fresh air, no windows, no sunlight, and the smell ... I know every preschool and daycare has sick kids but this place just screams germs! They said like 20 kids in the classroom, that's a lot!Maybe it was the timing, the kids were just waking up, but they just looked depressed & unhappy. The outdoor space is across the parking lot which seems very unsafe for toddlers and it had no toys to play with. They are very proud of their chef who cooks vegan meals... but even that seems depressing after seeing and smelling the interior of this building. I highly recommend searching around for a better preschool where your child will be happy, get some vitamin d and fresh air!
