Due to Covid our regular vet was not doing home euthanasia, so I reached out to Prescott Animal Hospital to see if they could help. The kindness and patience we received was so appreciated as, you can imagine, it was a very emotional time for us. Unfortunately, quite an unpleasant experience as a new customer. I arrived at 1:25, genuinely…read morethinking my appointment was at 1:30, when they claimed it was at 1:15. Over a 10-minute difference, I was immediately spoken to in a confrontational way about being late, not checking my emails, and being charged for the additional time. I've never encountered a service provider charging in 10-minute increments, or spoken to a customer the way they did. Even though trying to push for additional revenue for 10 minutes is quite unexpected, I still said the charge was fine. My issue was how I was treated. They then gave me conflicting answers about my dog's rabies paperwork, argued about it in front of me, and repeatedly called my dog by the wrong name. Overall, I found the interaction extremely unprofessional, unfriendly, and lacking basic customer service; especially surprising for a business that works with pet owners every day. A 10-minute misunderstanding did not warrant this kind of treatment. I left because of how they spoke to me and handled the situation, not because of the fee or paperwork. The sign at the door suggests they accept new customers, but reality is unfortunately they do not know how to do that.

I currently am registered at another vet for my dogs, however they do not do farm services. I phones Dundas vet with a request that some would perhaps not have made the time for. And were so amazing with me. I came in with a chick with one splay leg that I couldn't correct myself, some people would laugh at me for bringing in a chick, but they didn't. When I sadly learned that the chick was likely in pain and untreatable, I took their advice and had to say goodbye. I was a mess, sobbing in the exam room, then trying to hold it together while paying at the counter. in that moment, $ wasn't something I thought too much about, and was shocked at how low the cost was to examine and so gently euthanize sweet little Tom Bombardil (I'm giggling a bit now but not at the time lol). They never made me feel silly and staff members comforted me while saying that all animals can be pets and we all have our own relationship with them. Big, small, bird, dog, cat. Despite them being considered livestock by most. I am plant based so being told all creatures are equal was so comforting. The whole office shared their condolences as I sloppily spilled tears all over the counter haha. All of this to say, thank you for taking someone who isn't even one of your patients, and squeezing them into an already packed schedule. To be there to care for a week old chick and their caregiver who, was invested in their life, regardless of what their "value" was and helping me he make the tough decision to ensure he wasn't in pin. they made it feel so important. Like he was just as special as every beloved family pet. And I'm so grateful.

Just wanted to let you know my precious Yorkie Snickers died Friday evening after routine work at…read morethis clinic. I live in Canada currently for work and at the recommendation of my boss I took Snickers to this vet in Ogdensburg, NY Thursday for a routine teeth cleaning. They did blood work before they did the procedure and said everything was "beautiful" so they would proceed with putting him under anesthesia. They did the procedure and released him around 4:30 pm Thursday. They said everything went well and he didn't require any extractions in fact they told me his teeth were in such great shape that whatever I was doing to "keep doing it." They said he would be groggy from the anesthesia but would be back to his normal spunky self in 24-48 hours. His breathing was rapid and he sounded like he was snoring by the time we got home. I stayed home from work Friday to keep an eye on him and even called this vet to ask about his current state and held the phone up to Snickers so they could hear him but the person on the phone said it was normal so I went to my 4:00 pm gym appointment with my trainer. By the time I got back home Snickers was lying down on the bathroom rug, still breathing, but I noticed a little bloody vomit on the carpet. I scooped him up and took him to his primary vet here in Canada within 2 minutes of my house. He vomited what looked like bile on me and died in my arms in the 2 minutes it took to get there I contacted the after hours emergency at this clinic and someone called me back. All I got was a "sorry for your loss" so I made arrangements through the vet in Canada to have him cremated and his ashes returned to me. I spent $286 for what was supposed to be a "routine" dental cleaning....now I had to spend an additional $350 the next day to cremate him. I returned to this vet clinic today (Saturday) to request my money back but all I got was "sorry, no management on site to discuss this with you....come back Monday." Obviously I was extremely upset and very emotional. Snickers was everything to me. He was only 9 years and 5 months old and was in perfect health when we walked in on Thursday....the cleaning was supposed to be routine. They asked me to leave and I refused so they called the Sheriff on me. I am beyond heartbroken. Between May 2017-November 2017 I lost my younger brother, stepfather and uncle. Now not even three weeks after returning to Canada from my home in Virginia where I underwent three major surgeries that Snickers saw me through I have lost my very best friend and I'm supposed to be okay with an answer of "well that's the risk of anesthesia-that's why we have you sign the paperwork" from some doctor at this clinic. This is unacceptable. If his teeth were in such great condition why not just examine him and tell me from the outset the cleaning isn't needed? So if you are reading this review please save yourself the pain and risk of loss and just don't do it. Clearly someone at this clinic does not understand the correct amount of anesthesia to safely administer to a 7 pound Yorkie in excellent health. Oh and if your dog dies after a procedure at their clinic keep in mind they will want the body to do a necropsy to determine cause of death if you are requesting a refund for a routine procedure. The after hours person who called me failed to mention that which is why I chose not to hang on to my dog's dead body for three days and opted to have him cremated as likely any loving pet parent would do. If there was an option to give this clinic ZERO stars I absolutely would. Taking him to this clinic for a "routine" procedure will forever be the biggest regret of my life!

I need to share my experiences with Embark Pet Transport and I urge you: please, do not deal with…read morethis company. I have lodged a complaint against emBARK with the Better Business Bureau. Preparing for an international move is a very busy time and we put our trust in Matthew, who assured us he could manage the transportation of our oversized dog. With a lead time of more than six weeks, we secured the deal with a deposit of $1,000. From that point, our customer experience was brutal. Interactions were fraught with lack of information and horrible planning. Even as we were boarding our flight more than six weeks later, we were no further ahead than when we secured our deposit on June 26. Four days after arriving at our destination, he handcuffed us with a quote of $10,900 via Chicago. I still don't understand how this made sense logistically and it was priced at 3x our original estimate. We begged Matthew to find us a reasonable solution. Our conversation lead to retracting our agreement and he told us that he would keep a part of our deposit for his time spent on the file. Thankfully, he returned all of our money, but even that was a hassle. Instead of returning our money in a reasonable time, he e-mailed us with excuses which took more time to write than send an e-transfer. This interaction in itself seems to be echoed in reviews and his replies to reviews. I ended up researching and coordinating the transport to JFK. With the help of our family, friends and reliable companies, we were reunited us with our family member twenty *very long* days after our arrival. Reading the reviews against his company and speaking with other colleagues who underwent similar experiences with emBARK, I confirm that I am not alone. This has caused our family an unreasonable amount of stress that I hope no one else has to endure.
