I don't enjoy doing yoga solo at home. I tried a hot yoga class and instantly fell in love. The instructors at KOM were helpful and accommodating to my level and every other student in the class. They offer a wide variety of classes from barre to power yoga to a juicy slow flow class. As a client, I am able to make the class I take my own - giving myself the option to try a new arm or standing balance during the practice, or slightly increasing or decreasing a stretch if I need to. The people/community was just that- soulful & caring, practicing more traditionally, focusing on the spirit of yoga vs just asana flows. We held asanas (poses) longer than the traditional "American exercise yoga" most people think of yoga. Shane instructed and shared a lot in class personally and held space for the community to share as well, if they wished. What people shared was honest, real & refreshing. He reiterated a theme of finding common ground with people of all walks of life...not what I was expecting in Spfld, MO on a Sunday morning. Quite refreshing. Quite yoga at its finest: union! Thank you Shane & Kelly (kind man next to me) for sharing time, space, energy & a loving supportive spirit. Note: I have been practicing yoga for 7ish years and have done several certifications (200hr, stand up paddle & pre/post natal) and taught in SF (very briefly) & Costa Rica. The instructors have all been very friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and I appreciate that there are a variety of yoga styles offered. All of the classes I have attended have been very basic - stuff that anyone in reasonably good health could do. For someone who is really into yoga, Essential Yoga might not offer enough of a challenge, but for someone who is looking to try out yoga or just add a little bit of exercise and tranquility to a hectic lifestyle, this place would be perfect.

All the teachers have been knowledgeable & there are classes for different levels. Of course any yoga class can be modified to fit an individuals level, no competition here. There are men & women more my age but also younger students too. The meditation class on Thursday with Meg is free, so I take advantage of this peaceful time when I can. Parking is right outside the door. Also there is a massage studio connected to Essential, they share an entrance. I have taken advantage of Megan's wonderful massage skills. I have done yoga about 10 years off & on at three other places & think Essential will be my home. Their hot studio is beautiful and they had a super full class on a Sunday morning! They've definitely got a following and I can tell why! I will be back again next time I visit from Houston!
