Ardwin was the home of my first night in Ireland and for that will hold a special place in my memories.
Each B&B we stayed at had something to offer different from the rest. While this time it may not have been the friendliness of the owners, this night's stay will be rememberd by me for its adorable dinning room. (I have uploaded a photo). I thought of all the B&Bs we stayed at, they did the best job at setting a truly traditional and complete place setting. Dressed fully with linens, the light billowing in from the windows made the whole scene whimsical.
The bedrooms were decent and I did appreciate the quality of the shower. It had been over 36 hours and a few rain drops since I had last showered so I was incredibly grateful it was a good one.
My only complaint -- and for me, it is a large one -- is that this was by far the most sterile of my accommodations. The only way I can think of to describe it is that the owners were too business-like. In stark contrast to the warm-fuzzies we received at the following B&Bs (and even the hotel in Dublin), I felt that the hospitality at Ardwin was a bit cold and unfriendly. Never rude. Please let me be clear that they didn't do anything wrong. They just weren't as outgoing, friendly and eager as everywhere else. read more
