Good gas cheap and very good mechanics. I have had them do a bunch of work on my cars and have been satisfied every time. Update Sept 2019 The gas prices here have gone up so much that I can't give them 5 stars anymore. I used to fill up here all the time, but now that their gas is up to 50 or more cents per gallon above than other discount station's prices, I no longer use them much. read more

Stopped in for gas today at approximately 2:45 pm. My girlfriend went in to purchase gas while I waited in the car. She came out moments later a bit ruffled, and when I asked if she was ok, she told me the attendant/cashier just touched her without her consent. He asked if he could touch her tattoo, and before she could say "no", he had his hands on her. This was completely violating to her. After she told me what happened, I immediately went inside and asked if he'd like to touch my tattoos. He said "no", and was obviously embarrassed. He defensively told me that she said he could touch her. I 100% know that she would have never consented to allowing that creep to touch her. Furthermore, if she had allowed him to touch her, she would not have been upset by it. He touched her without her consent. Full stop. I'm concerned for any and all women who patronize this establishment alone. Women, you absolutely do NOT have to allow men to touch you without your consent. This creep should be fired immediately!!! I will never spend another dollar at this station until this guy is fired. I am contacting Arco Corporate Office as soon as I'm done posting this review. read more

Dirty place but great price. How can you turn away a gas station serving up prices that are at least $.10-.15 cheaper than surrounding areas? I'll have to keep this short as it's just another filler-up spot, but Arco is gracious enough to keep the prices low. Stay away people! They not only charge you a fee for using your debit card for gas, they will also charge you a fee if you use it for anything else (say for example you're riding with a friend, and they pay for the gas. So, you trying to be nice, offer to buy snacks and drinks for the ride.), like chips and bottled water.... ANYTHING!!! Back when gas was .99 cents a gallon, I used to stop here all the time on my way to COM, but I hadn't really been there for years cause I hate how crazy people get here during crowded time, so I suspect this added fee may be something new. This review is for the customer service at this particular Arco station. About half way through pumping gas for my car, the station attendant runs up to me, yelling, "Why are you pumping gas?!" I look around, confused, and reply, "Well, I put my card in and the machine and it said I could pump my gas and so...that's what I'm doing?" He then tells me that another customer had told him the wrong pump # (confused the number 4 with the number 9...WTF???) and I was pumping the other customer's $15 of gas. Oops, okay, let's fix the problem. The station attendant continues to yell at me, because I obviously did this on purpose, and then tells me to go to the ATM to pull out cash to pay them back. Um. No. I'm not paying an extra $2 ATM fee for someone else's mistake. Finally, after yelling at me some more, I get to pay the regular way with my card at the cash stand. Honestly, if the guy had just come up to me politely asked me to correct the problem, I would have without getting upset. I will not be returning to this station since obviously the customer will get blamed for someone else's mistake. read more

This has been one of my go-to gas stations in Marin since I got my driver's license. I haven't been inside the shop for probably five years, but the prices, pumps, and attitutes outside are pretty standard Arco anywhere - cheaper (and cheaper). read more

This place is horrible... attendant gave super bad attitude when i was filling up gas.. 8pm on a Monday night with no cars in sight... he comes out and tells me to leave as i entered the wrong way.. i said ok no problem... will do..im just finished with pumping gas... but then he came back and said "are you done yet"... you need to go!!.. wtf... dude there are like 9 spots open with no one in site... lol.. Unlike every other gas station I use, these guys require you to enter the PIN to pay by Visa at the pump. AND they charge a fee. Also the attendants inside are quite rudel. And to make matters worse, there are those crappy TV monitors blasting you with ads at high volume while you are trying to put the gas in your car. It's just not worth it. You'd think that running a gas station would be hard to screw up, but these guys have found ways to make the experience as miserable as possible. Avoid them at all costs, at least until they get new management. read more

Went in to get smogged and they had the best price within walking distance of my work. Tinh and Peter were awesome, upbeat and super quick. I was quoted $80 elsewhere just for the smog. I had my oil changed and smogged for $87. Sweet! read more

Really not that great of a deal. I live in central San Rafael so it has always been convenient. People rave about the prices being so low here; they really aren't. I use an application on my phone to find cheapest gas prices in town (I use premium). Never once has this arco been in the top 5. Plus if you don't have cash, don't waste your time here. They don't take credit cards and charge a fee to use your debit card. Making that "great deal" worthless. I would normally give one star but the guys that work there have always been friendly. read more

I've gotten plenty of gas here, but generally for my old Civic I commute in. Well, times are tight and gas is going through the roof. So I took my turbo Miata here for a discount fill up. Well, their 91 octane made my poor car ping and knock like it never has before. Perhaps it was just a bad batch, perhaps it's just the new warm weather formulation. But that is some crappy gas! I can't wait until I run this tank out, and I'm not going near full throttle or full boost until I can get some decent gas in there. Has anyone else found their 91 octane premium to not work well in high compression/boost cars??? Do ARCOs in general have such crappy premium? read more

Was on 101 near San Rafael when my temperature gauge went beyond the H! Made it to this Arco station and they were extremely helpful, made reasonable quotes for my radiator and said it could be more. And made sure I understood I could not safely drive my car back to Novato. Instead of staying there (which I should have), I hobbled across the freeway to the dealership. I don't understand why there are so many terrible reviews for this place. I believe that I've been going there for at least 20 years. I go there because their prices are fairly competitive. Occasionally, I get a lottery ticket. Granted, there are a few places around the county that are a little cheaper, but they're competitive enough and a convenient enough location to get my business. I couldn't possibly give less of a sh-t about how clean the place is or the attitude of who's behind the register. I've [ never ] had a single problem with any of their pumps or anything involving any transaction at this place. I just pay cash, get my gas and go. I have no idea what people expect out of the place they buy their gas from, but this is the 21st century, not the 1950's. Grow up Maridiots, grow the heck up ! P.S. Maybe some of these people should try the Chevron station across the street. It looks a little cleaner and it would only cost them around 20 cents more per gallon. Plus, it would be less crowded for me, if you go somewhere else. read more
