We were there for around 10 hours for the entire wedding and they made sure that everything went off without a hitch. We had the ceremony in the lower garden, and moved to the upper garden for cocktails and then the porch for the meal and dancing the night away. I highly recommend this place and really felt like we were at one of the best events ever which tells me they must do good for most others that take advantage of this beautiful venue.

I was told by our local tour guide to be careful with our belongings here as there were reports of pickpockets I was was somewhat neurotic when I was walking around but I didn't see anything during my visit - but just flagging here as an FYI.

When my husband and I were on vacation in Lisbon, our tour guide drove us here, and he offered to take a photo of me under the pretty umbrellas. We were there during the daytime, and many strangers were standing on the street and ended up in my photo, and I could Magic-Eraser only some of them. I hear that this street bustles even more for nightlife. The street is not long, so we were there for just a short time.

They have timed entrances and let in at least 800 ppl per time slot. There is a bathroom in upper level and the bottom near the exit. There is a free chapel to check out to the right of the entrance to the monastery. Not a place to miss!

The monastery is an ornate architectural marvel with incredible artworks and a beautiful courtyard that is an incredible testament the building prowess of that time. There are plenty of sights to see within and again the courtyard was the real highlight. There is a majestic sense of history that really surrounds you as you walk through the hallways and grand rooms that adorn this very large building. It is recommended to arrive early as I mentioned, the lines will get very long. The other aspect to be aware of is that people will harass you outside to buy things, it wasn't clear if they were gypsies or locals but it got a little annoying when a bunch of them swarm you and you really have to be on the lookout for your belongings. This place is also within walking distance of various other notable sights near the river so it's a great place to make as the centerpiece of your Lisbon walking tour.

Santa Justa Elevator is Lisbon's wildly unnecessary yet somehow charming vertical solution to the city's geography problem. This iron beauty connects the Baixa district to the Bairro Alto, which is code for flat ground to very not flat ground. Lisbon, famously built on seven hills, decided stairs were too obvious. So they commissioned Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, a student of Eiffel, to drop a mini Eiffel Tower in the middle of the city and call it an elevator. Classy. The view at the top is worth but go with the photo you could've taken from the top of a free hill. Ha!

The entire site is pretty impressive and majestic. Tons of picture taking opportunities. It does get kind of crowded here at time, especially if you're waiting in line to go inside the monument itself. But it is a lovely area to spend about 30 minutes or so to take some cool pictures and selfies. It's not far from other major attractions in the area so it's definitely a place to hit up.

There's a small museum on the garden grounds which features information about the castle's former residents and very cool artifacts like pottery and even bones. I learned a lot about the castle and Lisbon itself including its roots in Islam which I found very interesting. The castle itself is merely ruins at this point but you can still climb up to many of the towers for even better viewpoints of the city below. The peacocks on the grounds were amazing too and we got to see baby peacocks! There's snacks and a gift shop too but we didn't stick around for more than the sightseeing. It was about 15 euros per person for entry, as far as I can remember. I'd recommend visiting this spot!
