The Reinaldo dos Santos-designed "Fountain of Green Windows" is a baroque marble fountain that was first connected to the town's water supply system through the "das guas Livres" aqueduct in 1755. A The basin is round, as is the staircase that surrounds it. Adonis and Venus are depicted with a dolphin in a four-sided urn that is positioned in the center of the basin.
The National Museum of Ancient Art (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga) is located just opposite this fountain.
The fountain takes its name from the adjacent Rua das Janelas Verdas. I was here often as it is two blocks from the hotel and near the bus stop.
